I've been trying to take this rear apart for 3 weeks! I cant remove that retaining clip holding it all together. I have to replace the axle and was hoping you posted that put it back together video lol
I've been dying to try to fix my 2004 Polaris magnum 330 and it's so hard to 1:find a new rear differential and 2: Figure out how the hell to fix one. Currently I just hear clunking in the back diff when I'm in gear and rev it (wheels don't spin or even try to: Sometimes engages for a second then doesn't) and the way it broke was when I hit the gas hard after a corner and it just blew out on me. I don't hear any Metal clanking around more of knocking and it just kind of sounds like the pinion gear isn't engaged or engaging with the differential. I talk to you about this because you said that the reason you heard clanking was because the axle got pushed out sorta in your part 2 when you rolled it and it kind of made the gears have more play. Do you think that could be the same case with my four-wheeler when I rounded that corner and it just shifted the axle out of alignment with the pinion gear? I have rolled my quad plenty of times and I hope it's an easy fix like what you did. You are my best hope at figuring it out. I'm 16 and know a decent bit about knowing my way around cars/mechanics and would appreciate help.
It could be. But I recently discovered the wheel bearing will make the same noise. My first thought when reading this was you shifter might need adjustment till I saw you turned a corner. Lift your wheeler off the ground..see if there is any play in the rear tires as you shake them back and fourth and side to side.

Does anyone know what the little speaker looking thing is on the right side of the 4 wheeler? I notice some have it and some don't
It's for air flow to the snorkel going to the clutch.
