Saw this in the movie theater when it came out. Goddamn what an experience. Still one of the best modern horror movies I've seen.
The uncomfortably long opening scene with the whole family being lifted up into the tree with bags over their head and then hanging there in complete silence except for the video projector noises really set the tone for the whole thing. Some lady actually walked out after that.
And the pool jumpscare and the laptop screen jumpscare were SO beautifully executed, goddamn ❤
The movie is so scary not by jumpscares but with the footage scene, psycological at its best.
Jumpscares is also very scary bro

Sinister is by far the best suspense horror film I have ever watched. It sent chills down my spine when the mystery unfolded at the end. The story is just brilliant.
But conjuring is more scarier
Ending could've been much better
.
@Antoine Wilson conjuring was based on true story.Well gonna admit sinister was scarier and have a surprising twist
@raunak shakya so brilliant that the sequel shouldn’t have been made. The magic lied in the original and only the original.

i finished this movie just now and... holy crap. ive been interested in horror movies all my life but none of them have intrigued me nor frightened me more than Sinister. its one of those movies that has to do with some kind of demonic presence in which it has an actual story behind it, but instead of having an unexplainable ending and nothing pieces together, information brought to you throughout this thrilling story all pieces together in the end. ive gotta say, if you are looking for a horror movie that has jumpscares and action, this isnt the movie for you. this is more of a physcological thriller that is more horrifying than any other horror movie ive seen. it gives off this dark, gruesome, disturbing vibe throughout the entire movie and keeps the audience at the edge of their seat. and finally, the ending of the movie is absolutely insane. it all pieced together so well and the plot twist is something not even a physic could predict. unfortunately, if you like happy endings this movie is also not for you, but i was absolutely amazed by this film. 10/10 for horror films, 9/10 for a film overall.
One of the better modern horrors. The others don't do much for me.

You must scare easily. This is pure silliness. Watch Anthony Hopkins in “Magic”. That’ll probably kill you!!
@@wesley-nr7jv hereditary is super dark and disturbing
Honestly this is my one of my top 6 scariest movies to me. It’s mostly disturbing but it is definitely a scary movie. From the first time I seen it in theatres it was crazy like I was definitely terrified. It’s so good that I can’t watch it all the time because it takes away from its special scariness. I watch it from time to time I feel this same way about “the strangers”
It’s definitely not a very scary movie. (This might also be because I watched the last half of it during the day) This movie comes no where close to the conjuring and the exorcist. I do agree with you about the strangers. That is a very good movie especially because it is based on a true story. That one really makes you feel vulnerable.
@@loadeddiaper5244 I find this movie scary because of how disturbing it is. It lingers with me personally and bughuuul is just downright terrifying in this especially cause you don’t know who he is or why it’s even happening. When it comes to horror movies I have to watch them in a “controlled” environment to get the best out of the experience. So either watch it in the theatre at a random time so you don’t have loud ignorant people or if I watch it at home whether day or night make sure curtains are closed and lights are off and it’s dark and the mood is set. I have ruined a couple good scary movies cause I watched them in the wrong environment.

Ethan Hawke was so perfect for this film
I wouldn't say it's the scariest movie I've see, but definitely note worthy outouid screaming moments for sure. It was well written, executed and the acting from EH was as usual - good. The plot twist was fun and the deviousness in the murders while stemming from the occult could actually be real by a serial killer. Realized in the middle I had already seen it, but watched it till the end. Thanks.
the scary beginning of a possible great saga full of darkness, horror and suspense, were the results of crossing paths with evil are simply unavoidable, a total frightening tour to terror.
The only scene that scared me bad was the lawn mower scene :P

I feel as if I see horror films so much that it's hard to truly scare me anymore. Most of you fans of horror probably feel the same, so ease up on the movies a bit. What is not scary to you, can terrify many. Don't be so critical lol, none of us are paid critics.
Apex Mind Your right on that one. I was born in 1972 and have been watching horror since around 82 - present and you do kinda get de-sensitized by them after a while. I still remember the first ever horror movie that put me in shock while sitting on my parents couch in the living room. It was called " The Fury " and I believe Sissy Spacek was in it where she had telekinetic powers over other people.
***** It sucks to think the human mind gets use to even the movies we watch. This is why the writers and directors of the horror genre have a duty of finding new ways to invade our nightmares. Every so often a gem will make it through the rubble. I believe this generation has Insidious and a few others that were quite original.

so glad this wasn't a conjuring type movie, the jumpscares were actually neat and i loved the experience of figuring stuff out alongside the protagonist
This was the first horror film that creeped me out in years.
I felt like this movie took a nose dive halfway through. I really thought it would do well not in the supernatural. Hear me out. What if this was the work of a serial killer? Serial killer makes the first film (after several murders) but realized that he (or she) is getting too old. The serial killer is obsessed with the occult (hence the symbols). He chooses one kid from the family to keep alive and train. He kills the family members after he has watched, observed, and gained the trust of that one child. Then, he strikes. So the child is trained up to be a killer and the cycle continues with each film. It's a little rough.
That actually sounds pretty good 👌
I know these dieties have like things to do, case in point Bagul or whatever his name is. He has to 'consume the souls of children'.... Only question is, why do they have to be all creepy about it. I mean, what's wrong with consuming a soul on a bright Tuesday morning, or at a Sunday picnic, or a Mickey Mouse tour or something that's not a frigging pool in the middle of the night.
😂🤣😂🤣😂
