I am an european comic artist and studied a lot of french artists. In many european cultures, when it comes to suggestive themes within otherwise cartoony and/or juvenile works of art such as Rayman Origins, its very common to see those traits being casually included, which results very much jarring to other cultures (especially the US). When you consider the developers of Rayman Origins (and Legends) are from France, it makes a lot of sense. In short, you are welcome.
I honestly really love Origins a lot, it’s a fantastic game that introduced me to platformers. Also, to comment about the Laserhawk Rayman, the whole point of the show is these remixed versions of Ubisoft characters. They’re new insights to characters or interpretations of previously existing characters like with bullfrog. He doesn’t start out as this bumbling addict, there’s a snowball effect and he does have depth the clips online don’t give. Honestly I kinda don’t want to spoil as it has a really interesting (probably unintentional) allegory to Rayman’s relationship to his parent company. I know you seem to have a distaste for it but I honestly recommend it if you haven’t watched it already.
@@ASkeleton Same thing with the Mario Rabbids DLC, it's obvious the devs love and respect him, if anything the roast only shows that those devs are as frustrated as the fans with how Ubisoft has been managing the franchise.

Great video. This has kind of revived my interest in Rayman now. 😂 Honestly, the thing that fascinates me most about Rayman as a franchise is how unique its fantasy world is. There's fairies, robot pirates, weird little pseudo-goblins, worlds based on art, music and food, it feels timeless yet it has some hodgepodge modern tech bits here and there, it's all so beautifully put together. Pity Ubisoft treats it like a punching bag nowadays.
I really loved this love letter to Rayman origins. As a long time Rayman fan I was blown away by the beautifull levels and music. It was no wonder they remade the levels to be played in legends. It was a lot of fun and now I must play it once more. p.s. I find it hilarious that the "power to change size" was given by the T H I C C E S T Nymph
Isn't Rayman in Captain Laserhawk turning againt Ubisoft? Like, the villains are Ubisoft lol, and Rayman shoots them cause they're evil as shit and fucking over everyone
Now to be fair, Rayman Origins takes place before Rayman One. Clearly Betilla was still maturing and was about to leave her old rocking college years behind her after she uh. Made Rayman.
I thought Ramon was a brilliant way to use Rayman. He loses his sanity because of the abuse of his kind and hijacking of his image. Looking at the rest of Captain Laserhawk is important, because Rayman's not the only one in a shithole of a city with oppression in its core.
I don't think it's that unusual on differents aspects. The first being that Rayman 3 was already getting a "conker bad fur day" treatment with a lot of not even innuendos comment from the black lums or even Murphy, now I'm a french speaker, so maybe the English dub went soft on taht, but man, playing that game again when I reached 18 and thought "man, they really didn't even try to hide that". The second reason I think is simple, it's Europe, and Europe is not as puritan as the States or the Saxons for that matter. There's a french cartoon when a woman takes a bath, and when she drops into the tub, you can see a bit of jiggle (tho not the boobs themselves it's more the part where the breast gets to the armpit, so it's a bit subtle), you had that many fairy tale in their classic versions (wich many were still told to us as children back then in the late 90's and early 2000's) were not hiding their subject. It's like the french director Christophe Gans used to say, "in a way, fairy tales were the mthod for adults to tell Children about two things : Darkness and sexuality, fundamental part of their future adult life". A quick example I have is in an Asterix cartoon where you can clearly see the "assets" of Mrs. Geriatrix. I mean, I don't wanna play the "Disney ruined everything", freaking far from it, all I'm saying is that we (or at least I, I was raised in a pretty open but conservative way) grew up on sturner stuff. So those nymphs never bothered me, heck, nymphs savedd Zeus in the myths, they have quite a history.
@@ASkeleton I know they didn't, I mean, who would feel bothered by their...charisma? By the way, my brother absolutely loved you video. So thanks for that.
This game used to be mine and my brother's childhood. We beat the game several times, and while we enjoyed the chase levels, we never actually beat all of them or collected all of the teeth, we always dreamed about what would be behind that door when we got every tooth. We never looked things up as kids and because we were so young we never quite had the ability to beat some of the harder chase levels, so it always just kind of sat on our minds begging us to answer the question someday. Our imaginations got big imagining what would happen if we got all of the teeth, I imagined a whole collection of new levels, maybe where you play as the villans instead, my brother imagined a collection of new bosses to fight, we never found out, because at some point the PS3 disc was destroyed, until legends came out and all the origins levels were mixed into it. With how much we played origins it was quite shocking to see a boss fight we hadn't before years later.

"Any amount of horniness in a Rayman game is highly unusual"
I know Ly in Rayman 2 is pretty forgettable but come on now, her outfit practically looks naked. Yeah... turns out it's a bodysuit, not just plum colored body paint covering up naughty bits... sssure, I totally believe she's wearing a bodysuit that matches her EXACT skin tone even on the archived art from the game's website where they claimed she "dresses like the People of Prhys".
Sounds to me like they made the character and then came up with the excuses after. Fine strategy by me.
I absolutely blame Ly for my love of Fairies in the current day
As a kid I legit thought that was her skin and not a body suit. She appears in another game (one of the GBA Rabbids ones I think) and it’s shown to be a bodysuit cus it’s off on one shoulder.
the music played when we save the nymphs is even more sexualized 5:48
Bro is this sonic x?
Ah yes. Rayman Origins, the game I was playing while everyone else was playing Skyrim. The amazing music, the fantastic gameplay, the sexual awakenings! Why did they make those fairies so sexy?! Your thumbnail guy is right, there aint nothing confusing about how horny this game could get at times!
Honestly, this video just slaps! Can really tell the absolute love for the game being poured into this one. Hopefully you've convinced at least a few people to check this honest to god gem of a game out dude
I'd stand by them too. They were powerful words!

amazing video, I remembered as a kid how hard it was to gather all the teeth to gain access to the last world and the last fairy, seeing these one eyed chests gave me PTSD , but I was so proud when I finally managed to get all of them.
I think I will check it out sometime. You're right. It's not fair to judge based on clips alone.
@@ASkeleton Same thing with the Mario Rabbids DLC, it's obvious the devs love and respect him, if anything the roast only shows that those devs are as frustrated as the fans with how Ubisoft has been managing the franchise.
Nice to Sans from undertale become a CZcamsr after leaving the underground
ALSO YES DO LEGENDS I LOVE RAYMANNNNNNNNNN
Pretty sure you've already heard this multiple times, but you've pretty clearly not watched Captain Lazerhawk if that's your opinion of Rayman's depiction in it.
I mean, I haven't. But even if I did I'm sure I'd still find the drug use and alcoholism distasteful.
@@ASkeleton It's not bad but it's definitely overrated and as you said, the childhood destruction is a no no. Gives me mixed feelings because the way it is orchestrated is fantastic, another comment explained that well, but it's still way too dark for these characters...

The secret final level is probably my favorite level in the game. I really like the difficult fast paced speedrunning levels, and having it be the ultimate test of your skills from the entire game is super fun.
If you grew up in euorpe in the 80s, you know why the fairies were built like that. Childrens media used to hit different. I guess the youth have their Pixar Moms now, so in about 15 years we'll get confusingly butt-centric platformers
And thus the cycle will continue
Big boobs is not family friendly, so to differentiate they used the hips instead. Hubba hubba Disney Moms.
…did.. did you forget the point of Raman being in laser hawk…?
2:00 Pretty sure he doesn't have arms here and those are just the coat's sleeves using his hands as support
There's a difference between cultural appropriation, and cultural appreciation, that level is definitely good and will always be positive

Rayman origins and Legends are legit two of the best platformers ever made and it's really weird coming from ubisoft
Laserhawk Rayman was great tho, it depicts what bringing the actual rayman into a cyberpunk dystopia would be like
Okay but raymond was actually a cool adaptation. Both in the context of the show and playing on our original expectations of rayman
Hell nah us Mexicans are almost always happy to see representation in any silly crazy way from anyone, I’m a very big fan of Rayman Legend’s continuation of the theme with Fiesta De Los Muertos, super fun level and the theme for the boss is INCREDIBLE.
My big sister's girlfriend is Mexican, but we asked her about it and she said it was alright but the boss was... questionable.

Great video. This has kind of revived my interest in Rayman now. 😂
Honestly, the thing that fascinates me most about Rayman as a franchise is how unique its fantasy world is.

18:36 no way the mosquito rides you instead when you play as the frog, that's so funny
Isn't Rayman in Captain Laserhawk turning againt Ubisoft? Like, the villains are Ubisoft lol, and Rayman shoots them cause they're evil as shit and fucking over everyone
That boy ain't right.
Great Video
The jiggle physics are too good to be an accident
Now to be fair, Rayman Origins takes place before Rayman One. Clearly Betilla was still maturing and was about to leave her old rocking college years behind her after she uh. Made Rayman.
was not expecting pepperman from pizza tower, before he got his bell-surgery
I thought Ramon was a brilliant way to use Rayman. He loses his sanity because of the abuse of his kind and hijacking of his image. Looking at the rest of Captain Laserhawk is important, because Rayman's not the only one in a shithole of a city with oppression in its core.
God bless the French.
WE NEED LEGENDS LET THIS SKELETON COOK. Amazing video, liked and subscribed
Thanks very much!
all Ubi games have some horny aspect to them, it shouldn't surprise us
I don't think it's that unusual on differents aspects.
Ay, I never said the nymphs bothered me!
@@ASkeleton I know they didn't, I mean, who would feel bothered by their...charisma?

Eat hot dogs.
Oh my, the title wasn't lying. 😳
On of my favorite games ever. This video was a great tribute full of nostalgia! Can't wait to see more of you skull dude, you just earned a follow!
Thanks very much!
