    It could even be a combination of things. The air bubble in the charge air cooling system slightly reduced the cooling efficiency, the blower likely loosened up after use, questionable gas, and increased weight/friction from the drag radials, and what was the DA and Grains on each day? Without accurate data logs and DA information to review, its all just guessing.

      We have data logs from the original dyno, both days had remarkably similar DA’s right around 2300 and water grain was higher dyno day2

    Can you clarify whether your horsepower numbers are SAE or STD? I'm not sure if I'm reading it correctly, but I see STD at the top right of the page.

    So in order to see the numbers whipped advertises you have to dyno the car wrong and hurt the transmission in the long run, Put in octance booster, and remove the cats so they dont melt.

      The car made the number on 93, and has cats. Of course you’d need to go 1:1 to see the number… unless you want to guess? Don’t do it with yours.

      Would rather not, the 10r trash as it is. Don't need to smoke my clutches for a dyno number. But your data is nice.

      Yes, there is less drivetrain loss on a manual so the number will be higher.

      One more question: Do you think the mt82 can handle the power? I know the auto can but manual has a less than optimal history.

      From what I’ve seen it really depends on the driver’s ability. You can’t be too rough on those MT82’s. I’d think you’d need to be prepared immediately for a stronger clutch and to expect a transmission failure is possible.

    Im so happy this all worked out for you. I am considering doing this to my new GT next spring. I only have 300miles on it right now and want to finish breaking it in before I decide. How many miles did you have on yours ? Again Congrats and best wishes

    Did Whipple ask you to make this video? I'm sensing you got some heat from them. The facts are Stage 1 is less power than advertised due to their warranty tune. So skip this one and buy a Stage 2.

      We do not have a warranty tune, all stage 1 tunes are the same, powertrain warranty or not. And no, no one from Whipple has asked for any videos, track results etc. In fact i've told him multiple times to post whatever he feels the need to, Whipple does not manipulate any customers.

      @MrPrime269 the car is warranted by whipple and we had permission to test in 6-7th otherwise we wouldn’t have. I’m not a dyno queen car kinda guy so chances are you wont see much if anymore of this as I use trap speed/weight to determine effective HP.

    In our experience the calibration is the limiting factor. No matter the octane nor the exhaust scenario the car would limit the output up top.. power under the curve was great with gains shown with every change of the car, but once the revs climbed above 6000, the charts all pulled together. So in other words, if you don’t have a dyno chart that pulls to redline it’s hard to estimate the actual power made. What were your timing numbers on the various pulls??

      Whipple says on the stage1 kits they throttle back to meet the safe HP target, there is more there. 19-20*

    Now I know you don't believe the tire thing, however it is a thing depending on the dyno. Tim Barth, the #1 tuner for Hellcats, his dyno runs ~40HP lower with drag radials on it due to the sticky tire. How do I know? I had my car done by him at his shop and he said he did testing to prove this. He has his dyno variances locked in and knows what to expect depending on the tire. Strangely enough, I had some other shops chime in and agree with it as well. Good video!

      I’ve seen quite a few videos on this topic, and I agree with those results on an aired down Hoosier DBR, ET Street R etc etc, but the handful of results I’ve seen of these stiffer radials like the SS aired up resulted in negligible loss. Thanks for the watch!

    Fantastic Analysis JB! Ppl will still nitpick about both Stages. Facts/Math are a stubborn thing. Fact of the matter is that Whipple did get it right. (Albeit with quite a few speed bumps and sometimes frustrating mix messaging)
    Conclusion = No octane boosting on S1! (Unless crappy fuel) 93/E30 much better
    S2 Total beast with 93/E30 and pulley.

      @@MurphysLawGarage I meant datalog comparison between both dyno days. It just sounds like the car is doing what it is commanded to do this time vs last time. Better air, better fuel, etc.

      Makes no real power on a stage1, but it could definitely help a pulleyed stage2 at higher boost.

    I'm going with: you ran it out to 7th gear. If I remember correctly you wouldn't run it out to 7th and did your first pulls to 6th only. Also, I think that fellows Dyno is a DOG not the car. Running it out to 7th would equate to approximately 30hp more which would be what your numbers are in these runs, approximately. Honestly, when you have to juggle four balls, standing on one foot while balancing an umbrella on your head to get good numbers - to me is just ludicrous...🤷‍♂ Especially, when I'm watching Palm Beach Dyno do stock cars after whipple installs and hitting 720+ HP ... Take it to another Dyno and run it.

      We dyno’ed in 7th gear the first time as well. Mitch’s dyno is a newer unit than PBD’s. PBD has only dyno’ed stage2 cars. We went to the track after this and ran a 10.2 @ 134mph at 1800DA on e30 which suggests ~750whp. 705whp on 93 was correct.

      Whipple has not sent any tune revisions. Infact its quite complicated to do so given our relationship with Ford and the unlock process on this calibration.
