    Thank you for mentioning the Genesis 6 button controller! I am so sick of reviewers ignoring it's existance and criticizing the genesis for its lack of needed buttons

      True but some kids could not affort more controllers so back than even in 94 many were stuck with the original 3 button controller.
      Me and one guy I know in my place both had a SNES with one controller if I wanted to play multiplayer with him I would need to bring my controller at his house.

      @@paradoxzee6834 I was stuck with the 3-Button controller back in the 90s, in fact we had TWO 3-button controllers for Genesis. Not only were they rare to find in stores, they cost way too much or were sold out.

      @@paradoxzee6834 Nah, if you could afford games, you could afford a 6-button controller. It was essential for some of the later ones. I was a Sega kid and I made sure I got one and can't really understand why anyone wouldn't have wanted to do the same at the time.

    The Genesis version actually has much more precise controls than the SNES version. The SNES version feels slippery but in the Sega version, Simba stops on a dime. It feels much better.

    99/100 times you are correct guys, but this time you weren’t. As some other people saying in other comments, you didn compare Simba’s roar in sound effects which are better on Genesis and gameplay on Genesis is truly better in many ways. As you said in lot of your videos, gameplay matters the most and Genesis have the better gameplay. So I think this time you were wrong.

    Gameplay has a slight edge on Genesis. Apparently there's a jump at the beginning of Hakuna Matata level which is pretty frustrating to pull off on the SNES but on Genesis, they added an animal with a swingable tail to make it more fair. That coupled with being able to see more of the screen makes the Genesis version a less frustrating experience.

  • @hectorthecartoonandvideoga9328

    Sega should've won gameplay due to these:
    1. Simba jumps higher
    2. The edges in the Nintendo are only useful in 5 levels (one with young Simba in Elephant Graveyard, and all adult Simba levels), meaning it's nothing compared to the edge that helps in the 10 levels in Sega.

    One cool thing about the SNES version that was cool, graphically, was the lighting affect that comes with the lightning and stuff on some levels. On SEGA the lightning strikes the ground and creates a fire. On SNES it does the same thing, but when it strikes the ground, the rocks nearby light up blue like the lightning - that was cool.
    I preferred most of the music in SEGA. SNES has closer quality and vocals, and that edges it up on some tracks (like the title theme for sure) - but most of them sound more...deep and just better imo.

    SEGA WINS. The cropped screen in Snes affects the gameplay. Snes wins for the musics? The music on the Canion stage sounds like a symphony of farts in snes; and the sound of the roar in the sega is very better!

      There are a lot of farts in the Genesis version's sound effects:
      - In the first level: when Simba jumps on hedgehogs, lizards and beetles;
      - In the level "The Elephant Graveyard": when the passage opens, after facing two hyenas at the beginning and end of the level, when elephant bones fall and when Simba rolls and opens a passage;
      - In the level "Simba's Exile": when the rocks fall.
      - In the "Hakuna Matata" level: when Simba jumps on frogs and spiders;

    There are a bunch of bugs in the SNES adult Simba levels that can make them a pain too (in particular the level where you keep falling into the lava - there are invisible walls). I feel like that plus the cropped screen preventing you from even seeing where to jump on giraffe heads in the second level (which is the hardest level by far in the SNES version) really does give Sega a bigger edge.
    Bottom line, I think it would have been cool to say it was up to the viewer on this one. ;p

    I hate that stock controller argument with these console wars debates. That's just stupid, because the 6 button Sega controller was very easy to get, and most Genesis owners had at least one if not two or more. They even came with later model Genesis consoles so they do count. Most of the time you could buy a Genesis and a 6 button controller or possibly even two of them separately and still pay less than buying a Super Nintendo set with it's stock controllers, so paying extra money to have an equal controller isn't exactly true. When that controller came out I very very rarely used the 3 button controller anymore, and I'm sure many other people did the same thing as well.

      i totally agree with you. sega has an awesome soundtrack. these guys gave nintendo the win because of how it sounds closer to the movie, with the added chanting. but nobody plays videogames for the music in the first place. and sega's graphics and gameplay should have gave sega the obvious win on this. the music does infact sound way better on sega, in the way of being more clear. the snes music may have added volcas, but the sound is in mono. meaning very quiet. sega plays sound in stereo. which is alot louder and clearler. especially if your using a sega genesis model 2, which already has an audio setup for stereo sound, and is the most common genesis model you can find. infact, the genesis version of the lion king was so popular of a game when it game out, that at one point, sega even sold the modal 2 genesis console along with the lion king as a pack-in game.

      @@SantiagoMonroy5 the fact that you even like Bubsy enough to bring it up, just ruins my opinion of you, to even remotely take your reply seriously. but fact is, alot of genesis music kicks more @$$ then what super nes games could do. MK1 & 2, Sonic 1,2, 3 & knuckles and Rocket Knight Adventures are just a few examples. snes has the donkey kong country 1 & 2, killer instict 1 and legend of zelda: a link to the past music going for it. but sega has always brought the heavy soundtracks in theyre games. not to mention that there was more violent video games on sega then on nintendo. nintendo ruined that for themselves, being agaist violence back in the early 90's. this always made genesis a console for adults. while nintedo was for goddamn babies. sure nintendo slipped a few violent video games into the mix since mk2. and ended mortal kombat games being on theyre console since umk3ds and mkArmagetton too the switch. meanwhile, nintendo was back making games for players in diapers. sega went to nintendo only after losing the console wars with the dreamcast. but that never changed nintendo from being the pussy video game company that they always were. always aiming towards making kiddy games, and hanging out backwards with lower technogy. took them a few years to make an hd console. the switch is just a freaking tablet. and thats still way low tech compared to any andriod tablet that exists, ps4 and xboxone in graphics power.

    It sounds more like the movie, but besides "I can't Wait to be King," the samples they used sound awful. Scratchy and muffled IMO. Sega wins sound for me.
    And besides the resolution (which does affect gameplay at times) I think SNES had a better use of color.

    Honestly, I feel like the Genesis sound is slightly better here. Nintendo's intro may have the vocals, but they're heavily distorted and the Sega version sounds cleaner. The vocals in the stampede scene are much more pronounced on the Sega version while the Nintendo one is more subtle while it beats your ears with a repetitive distorted horn. The rendition of "I Just Can't Wait to be King" on Sega is very clean and nicely mixed, while the Nintendo version has distorted vocals getting in the way of some decent instrument samples.

    The AMIGA had the best animation and speed out of the lot of the versions too at second glance. If it had the demoscene style text of the SNES which is normally an AMIGA trademark which didn't exist in this game and it had all the levels plus all the colours AGA supports as well as the memory it would have one best version for sure over everything it's even a game that goes well for both 1 button and 2 button gameplay.
