      Evan Kirkpatrick What happened with the foul call was this. The catcher sometimes blocks the umpire’s vision of that kind of pitch. As can the batter’s swing. Often, one has to try and listen for a sound, and the ball bouncing off the plate must have been what the plate umpire heard. Usually, the other umpires are just too far away to see it. Umpires don’t have the advantage of slo-motion replay from a different angle.

      You don't blame them for their actions? Acting like a child over disagreeing with a call and you don't blame them. Bad ump or good ump is a good enough excuse to act like a spoiled child?

    • @samputt5045
      @samputt5045 Před 4 lety +2

      Peter G first of all, I said “some”, not all. Second, Angel Hernandez, Joe West, CB Bucknor, and a couple of other umpires are the definition of “unprofessional.” They escalate situations when they don’t need to be, and they eject players for “showing up the umpire” when they’re in disbelief about the terrible call the umpire just made. Take for example Mark Buehrle. Joe West called a balk on him, and he put his hands behind his head in disbelief. Joe West threw him out for that. Ridiculous, right? I agree with you on some players. Manny Machado for example. Biggest idiot and baby in the MLB. Rugned Odor. How is he still playing baseball?! This comment was not intended for those players though. This comment was intended for the players that were in disbelief about the terrible call that the umpire made, and got thrown out somehow. If you read some of their lips, they are usually saying something along the lines of “that was a terrible call” or “that’s twice this game!” Not being a baby.

I don't care so much about home runs as the next guy, because if all your homers are solo jacks, they're nearly useless. If a man has 30 homers but only 30 RBIs, that's not gonna win too many games. I've been watching baseball longer than you've been alive son. I want to see a power hitter get at LEAST 3 times as many RBIs as homers, and at least walk way more than he strikes out. Not a player but was fun watching Earl Weaver have a meltdown on the field. Especially if Ron Luciano was the umpire. Both came through the minors together and had a history. Luciano threw Weaver out of both games of a double header, the second time before the start of the game. American league rearranged umpire assignments so the two of them wouldn't meet in a game one year.

    You know guys I yuse to be a pitcher growing up and when a pitch like that happend sometimes off the plate I would point at the ball where the pitche ended up after it crossed the plate talking to myself. Over the years watching baseball I saw some pitchers do this because they were trying to get the pitch they were throwing over and not trying to argue with the umpire if it was a ball or strike. Most umpires think your talking to them when your throwing the ball but your not your trying to connect with yourself how to make your pitches better and how to get the ball across the plate better relateing to the pitch and not argueing balls and strikes. One time I had to explain it to a umpire in a game that I wasn't argueing calls I was talking within myself to throw the ball better and to get better control of my pitches where my arm landed after each delivery to the plate. Heck even some umpires told me hey kid stop talking to yourself because I was getting soo upset where my arm was landing after I pitched the ball.
