- Budget ways to get into RC drifting - lots of folks are interested in RWD RC Drifting, but nervous about dropping big $$$ on trying it out.
When building a drift car - one of the most important items is which gyro you use. In this video, I test to see if the SkyRC GC301 is worth a look, of if you should stick to some of the more well known offerings.

I like these for adding to 2wd short course trucks. Makes up for my bad driving and cheaper than Spektrum avc.

I have the Team Associated Pro2SC10 - it actually came with a gyro in the receiver...but of course, gyros are not allowed in racing, so had to disable it.

Hey Troy, Futaba had just announced the GYD470 which I’m assuming is the replacement for the 450. However, Futaba had stated that the 470 will take advantage of some features found on the 550 but priced cheaper like the 450.
But as we know, Music City is no more… Would be awesome to compare with the 450 to see just how much better it is, what features it’ll have and whether it will be compatible with any other transmitter. A few RCDC 2022 drivers had them and did well.

@@RoadsideRC I just bought my first sakura d5 mr kit and im running the high stability gyro made by onisiki. I think its the slightly cheaper one compared to the Daruma.
I just recently built Yokomo RD 2.0 and have one of these gyros coming for it. Has there been any improvement with the gyro since you got it?

Have you done a review of gyro vs. no gyro drifting? I'd like to see a comparison and your thoughts on it.
For RWD - it is an easy answer. There is basically no drifting without a gyro.
@@RoadsideRC I've tried it, although I'm new to this whole drifting craze, I seem to do better without the gyro.
@AUSHER maybe with a cheap gyro you better of without but when you have try a decent gyro it's way easier than without gyro.

No controlador, a única configuração é o ganho do giroscópio. Você pode fazer isso através de um canal sobressalente. Como o canal 3.
Qual controlador você está usando? O detalhe é diferente dependendo do controlador.
Do you need to plug in the gain ? or can i just use it without and manually adjust the gyro ?
Many gyros give you the option to manually adjust the gain - but that is only a temporary solution. It is nearly impossible to accurately set it manually.

(sorry if its a bit off topic) do you know anyone that drifts using the Spektrum radios im having issues tuning my gyro using the radio im having to do it by hand its my old racing radio when i did 1/10 buggies and legends

I have setup a few drift cars with Spektrum controllers. They never seemed to work quite right.
What issue are you having?
@@RoadsideRC maybe im missing something but when i try to use the controller it self to adjust the the gain/assistance from the gyro on the controller it never seems to do anything ive had to adjust them all using the dials built into the gyro it self ive tried a few other gyros other then the one i currently own and none of them seem to want to work with it a MST gyro i borrowed from a friend seemed to be the only one that would take any input from the controller im using a non AVC OrangeRx receiver Spektrum S6230 servo with a DX4s controller

Nope - I believe it is just part of the gyro design. It is a rather cheap one - I guess we got what we paid for...
@@RoadsideRC it seemed to have sorted itself out with the twitching but now I have the issue of mega speed wobbles as soon as I get up to any sort of speed over say 10-15mph lol, your right though, we buy cheap we buy twice 👍🏻

When you say universal - what is your goal? Still targeted to use it in drifting?
Brought a futaba 550 just found out cant use with my radiolink I would like to put a good gyro in my drag car
My D5 just came in the mail I just unboxed it and I was curious what is a good working relatively cheap motor and that shock relocation kit what brand is that under

The shock relocation was 3D printed. I'm guessing you have that covered with all the parts you make.

@@RoadsideRC If I can find the file to that 100% I think this is technically a knock off D5 but it's exactly the same as an original so it'll get the job done. I'm super excited either way I absolutely love it. I've already got an Amazon cartful of stuff for it. And also they just opened the drift track 2 days ago at them all
@@RoadsideRC As far as the electronics go I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to go about it Something kind of middle of the road for price is going to work for me I'm definitely going to watch a lot of videos and figured out . I was going to use a 43 economyline body however the wheel Wells would just look too big I'd like to do something American muscle but an S13 would look good too

Oh so drift cars are kits , are there any good rtr , team associated mskesnone I think.
RTR’s are available from MST and Yokomo but in the end, neither are great and you’ll spend more on making them better than if you started with a kit and built it up with good parts. They’ll get you in the door and get you started but long term, they’re not great.
A 3Racing D5S, Hobbywing 3650 motor & ESC combo set, RevêD RS-ST servo, Yeah Racing Hackslider Mini V3 and FlySky Noble NB4 will still be a better option than an RTR.
The only RWD RC drift cars that come RTR that are worth buying are the two from MST and Yokomo.
I do highly suggest most folks start with the RTR. They are a little cheaper to get started with, and then you can upgrade them slowly over time...instead of spending more $$$ upfront.
