I switched to a business account, and paid for a $5 promoted post. About two hours later my post was ranking in hashtags again. So yes it seemed to work, but...
The next day same issue again, not ranking in hashtags. So no, paying to promote your post, at least in March 2019, is NOT a guarantee of getting unbanned.

Julian Rotondo, I really don’t know, and to complicate things photos don’t seem to rank in hashtags for 4 to 5 hours now, so I don’t even know if I was shadowbanned or if Instagram just does this delay now. It never used to. And of course they don’t answer any support requests, so I have no idea.

As of May 10, 2020 buying a promotion on Instagram did not remove the shadow ban. I would encourage others not to listen to this advice and just wait it out until Instagram or Tiktok releases the restriction ban. Save your hard earned money. James

I have tried all of those already, they are aimlessly banning promo ads and assuming it's something about legal activity / promoting illegal items ( i am just a designer / packaging printer ). A big question, Do Instagram notifies if some people is reporting you, just because some people don´t like your posts?

So I need to have a business Instagram account?
I've been struggling with shadow-banning for about 2 weeks now and I really feel something should be done about it as it causes super harmless accounts to go into limbo. But what is most striking is that Instagram, hasn't got any sort of warning system. I also couldn't find anything about usuing the same set of hashtags in their rules (that's what got me in trouble but hey, my whole account is dedicated to thesims4 builds, all of those hashtags i've been using are more than revelant to the nature of the account and I just found it easy to use a set that I knew would work well for me) in their rues. I don't feel it's fair to block people's account while most people are unaware of the tactics they use. How hipocrite it is to state in their description that they pride themselves in being easy to use and user-friendly while they have rules the users are not informed of. And the promototion thing really had my blood boil. So now I have to pay? To get back an account I have worked for months and never even got a message that i might be violating the rules? Otherwise I might ot might not get my account back to normal? Sorry guys but that's a fraud. And I don't think the community should remain silent about it. I understand that people who get those paid promotion are treated differently than normal users but they have gotten things too far. It's like they keep our accounts hostages and wait for us to pay the ransom.

I have absolutely NO IDEA why I got shadowbanned. All of my hashtags were ones with larger numbers (anywhere from 150-1M), and I even reduced the amount of hashtags from 7 to 3 when I tried it today. I've looked a couple of times today on my computer as well as my phone at the 150 posted tags to see if mine would show up. Nada. Curious about something: the VERY FIRST time I #'d on my VERY FIRST post, I included my #user name (there were 0 posts there). I know others who have done that (with 0 posts) and it's worked just fine. I'm clueless. Yea #user isn't a problem, we do that as well. I would promote one of your posts but lay off posting or hashtagging anything for the next few days too, that's what helped us. That combo

I switched from a business account to creator account and it solved it instantly. I suspected I had been shadowbanned when I posted a video and after 1 hour it had 10 views. Usually by that point, my videos have 1000 views, so clearly something was wrong. I switched from business to creator and posted the same video, now after 30 minutes it's at 500 views. So if you're a business account but willing to switch to creator account, that may solve it for you!

Great video. That shadowban screwed SO many accounts. For about 2 months I had it set out in my work schedule that from 3-4pm every day I worked on Instagram & so that's what got our account shadowbanned. We started shaking it up & shaking up our hashtags which eventually got us unbanned ... but it took quite a while.
Yea it took us a week of trying literally everything and couldn't get it unbanned, then once we promoted one picture it was fixed that day. Definitely Instagram has gotten more strict about what they consider spammy behavior so definitely makes it harder since we have to be careful about anything we do.

Yea for us the shadowban was off after the promotion ended, I'd recommend just running a one day one then checking the next day again. Hope it works for you, let me know!

Chasing the Wind reported it to Instagram, deleted all hashtags. I'm gonna try logging out for a bit and see what happens, but I'm not really expecting that to work either. This shit is so dumb. Doesn't even give you a ban message, they just ruin your engagement out of nowhere...
I found a solution. Running the ads didn’t work. 2 things did work though. Not posting at all for 10 days and loging out of your account from your company and mobile device. Also contacting Instagram saying your account was hacked worked as well. I had 6 client accounts that were shadowban and I got them all un-shadowbanned using either of these methods.

Hi I’ve recently been shadowbanned and I tried your method but the only problem was that Instagram wouldn’t approve any of the posts that I chose to promote :/ They kept declining them and saying that the post/image has nudity or sexual content. Even though absolutely none of them did??? So I gave up after trying over 5 times. I am in the same boat, and they are harming my livelihood with their business tactics :( they also blocked my promos on some things that didn't have any violating content

Okay. I did this and it worked. But my instagram content is still moving slow
So I changed my profile to business profile some months ago to get the analytics and since then my reach has seriously dropped. I know I use many hashtags sometimes but I do appear in the browse section (for what I have checked). My account is basically design, animations and drawings with 4k followers getting 30 to 70 likes per post, where I used to get 100+. Also I lost like 800 followers since. I am trying the promotion for a couple of days to see if it gets fixed...

If insta see it doesn't,t log on 4 or 5 days. Insta just stop paying attention and never rank your ppa or story on hashtag or explore?

This happens to me all the time. I’ll make good helpful videos that blow up get top search. Then all of the sudden all my videos get kicked off and my analytics is a straight line down. That’s not “people aren’t interested” it’s youtube going out of their way to suppress my content.

I've been facing this since october last month, every video was repetitive, this is the only one that gave me real hope, i will try deleting all my Hashtags from photos, chill for a few days and see if it works, will Edit this comment.
