  • Is cloth diapering for the first time as easy as breathing as everyone says? This is my one-year cloth diaper update, and how everything went wrong in the past six months (from my last cloth diaper update). In today's mom vlog, I'm sharing my updated cloth diaper routine, how it's been cloth diapering as a beginner, how to wash cloth diapers (updated), how to bleach cloth diapers, solving the water-repelling cloth diaper issue, and everything you need to know for cloth diapering (from my experience as a beginner). If you haven't seen my first-day cloth diapering or my six-month update mom vlog, please watch before continuing this mom vlog. Obviously, everything in this vlog is based on my personal experience and should not be assumed or interpreted as a resolution for those watching.

    The smell you were experiencing was ammonia build up, which also contributes to water repelling. I'm on my second go round with cloth, first time I had the same issues as you, this time I found clean cloth nappies Australia, and it has been much easier!!! Basically they say there's more of a problem from using too little detergent rather than too much. I was like you 7 years ago and kept coming across information that too much detergent clogs your nappies, since swapping to this wash routine my guy can last all night without any leaks.
    Glad to hear that bleach worked for you, I've been considering running some inserts through a bleach wash, I got them second hand and they look well used, I'm hoping bleach will refresh them!

    Hey hun! Happy to see you back at it! Although my kiddos are waaaaay outa any kinda diapers..🙌🏾 I still can appreciate good content! Love the new washer dryer, we just picked up a NEW Samsung set and are currently working on our smaller laundry area, thought we would stack them but decided not to. I’m praying it does us right! The GE set looks great in your space! Looking forward to connecting soon!

    Great update! I've learned not to be a cloth diaper "snob" with washing lol. Whatever works is all that matters. I had no washer for a while too and also had to stop cloth for about 2 weeks when we we're moving, I was so mad when I kept having to buy boxes of diapers haha. I'm also saving some cloth diapers for a future kid. I would say if you have to use anymore for while you're finishing up potty training to just grab a set of Green Mountain diapers' Clotheez flats, you've probably heard of them. But they're so forgiving, and I've never heard of anyone having smell issues. I have alva pocket diapers as well that came with the inserts, but have heard bad things about microfiber retaining smell. Congrats on getting potty learning started early!

    Been cloth diapering for a year and had breakdowns with a portable washer. To deep clean & combat repelling , I soak my clean diapers with a grovia pod and then bleach. My fav is pocket cloth diapers with zeppoli flour sack towels as inserts, I also use thirsties hemp prefolds sz 2 ( I have 4) as inserts for overnight or long trips. These inserts are extremely easy to handwash or boiled for deeper cleaning. Using covers with fleece liners instead or pocket diapers has decreased the amount of laundry, still use pockets when I need convenience. I do not have a sprayer, I shake off what I can and throw ithe liner in a dollar tree bucket to deal with later. I can buy disposables and I have when I needed a break but I always come back to cloth, the coat savings are too great to resist

      I have the hemp prefolds too. I love them! I have diaper liners, but they're not fleece though. Mariah's poo was wet so it would soak into the diaper and I had to rinse and scrub by hand (prior to and after getting the cloth diaper sprayer). I mentioned why we purchased the sprayer in my 6 month update video, and what I was going through. I mentioned in that video that we also keep diapers on hand for travel and just in case. I still have my cloth diapers, and will use them for the next child. I think I mentioned this in this video. I lovedddd them and honestly miss it because Mariah loves to tinkle, then rip her diaper off lol.

    Hi beautiful. I found you through an old Japanese straightening video and I wanted to ask If ir damaged your hair a lot? I’m debating whether I should do it myself. Thanks a lot

    • @VictoriaVaden
      @VictoriaVaden  Před 3 lety

      Hey there! I didn't damage my hair. It was actually (surprisingly) soft. I just didn't like my red hair anymore, and it was too straight for me. I like having body in my hair, even when it's straight and my hair didn't feel like that. If you're still on the fence about it, take a bit longer to really weigh in because it's literally permanent. You have to cut your hair off if you don't want it anymore (which is what I did). I would've preferred to do it in high school when I was relaxed for 10-ish year during that period in my life. My hair also had never been colored, so it was fuller and extremely healthy (compared to life stress and after having a baby).

    Thank you for sharing. You should consider joining a Black mom cloth diapering group on FB. That’s what’s helped me with a lot of the things you’ve run into on your journey. Just a thought.

      @@VictoriaVaden there are a lot of mothers that do videos on CZcams about using cloth nappies. They have so much information about them.
      Don't understand why there is a cloth nappy group only for black mothers. Surely everyone is the same when they cloth nappy their babies.
