I remember watching this when it came out, loving the idea that the Scorpion King had his own origin story, and literally seeing you improve as an actor incrementally as each scene progressed. From being a bad actor to being a good one. First time in my life, I could actually witness an actor's improvement in a single movie.
I was obsessed with the mummy movies and wrestling as a kid. I was so excited when this movie came out. I still watch this and just laugh. This is still one of my favorite Rock movies.

I truly loved this movie. The fight scenes were great, loved the characters and it had lots of humor. I can't ask for more from a (first time actor) leading man. As for the Rock reacting to himself (in regards to some of the comments below), he was a wrestler right... Isn't that what wrestlers do.

It was my 1st Hollywood movie and I was so much surprised and satisfied I can't make me believe that my favorite rock is in such a role as a story which is written for him and was totally suitable to his personality. what an acting and amazing sword playing. Thanks so much The Rock for making such a movie.
You have no idea how much I loved The Scorpion King when I was growing up, I watched it everyday. I literally thought I would marry him.
Unfortunately he was already married and had a daughter. It was his ex wife Dany (who he still works with for his production company Seven Bucks I think it's called or something like that). He has a girlfriend Lauren who he had another daughter from not last year but 2 years ago.

Dwayne I tell ya right now to this day Scorpion King is one of my favorite movies. Back when it released i was renting a basement suite and had zero cable, but I had almost 200 movies on DVD and a few older VHS lol Every day in this new basement suite when I got home from work after dinner, not needing to call anyone, not going out it a work day, I needed a movie to watch... and Scorpion King I found myself watching numerous times through the week for months (not numerous times a night). Scorpion King I chose to watch more than Aliens more than MIB more than Species more than ConAir more than Armageddon.. I had lots of action movie (and still do), but without realizing till I had no cable, I just loved this show Scorpion King... The story, the cast (I mean Kelly H. talk about hot), the soundtrack etc... epic adventure. Another one you did that I thought I may never watch... ya sry, but it was Baywatch. Yes when I finally decided to rent Baywatch via stream. I really really liked it, simplicity in story, so funny laugh out loud super cast and just great show. I liked Scorpion King and Baywatch I bought both on 4K HDR and will continue to watch them time to time. Another one I enjoyed with a different tone was SNITCH and Doom.
But there's something special when Hollywood makes the movie uncomplicated fun and adventurous like Scorpion King and to my surprise Baywatch as well.
