My mum will still not apologise even if Jesus calls her personally to clear me of the allegation. She will say why didn't they mention the neighbour's daughter's name that we attend the same school. And she will conclude using her normal phrase that it is because I am always walking bènshèbèshè (carelessly in Yoruba) up and down that is why my name is being mentioned. I never knew/grew up with my mom but my dad would just say, "i want to take you some where, then proceed to drive me to the supermarket and tell me to pick whatever i want." No apology. Never!!! Not even God, Jesus, the dieties of our land, chiefes, king, queen , FBI, interpol, CSI, MI6 etc will make him say the words ," i'm sorry". Never!!! I also started never apologizing to him and it would drive him mad. I say, i learned from the best.

This mom always captures EXACTLY what it's like growing up in many African households 😂. Is not funny when you're in it. But, when you're watching it from an outsider's perspective, it's hilarious. I love how African parents don't apologize upfront. Their version of an apology is to offer you food or a half-hearted apology with a "but." (e.g. "but" you wouldn't have had to break up a fight if you weren't hanging out with the wrong people) 🤦🏽♀️😂
