What I like about this game compared to the games now is how every wrestler wasn't a direct copy. They had their own fighting stances and walks and everything.

This is so true. It was more exciting to play. WWE 2K games are realistic and you can do many different things you couldn't do in the past but the one thing you can't do is have as much fun as you did in THQ games. The arcade and over the top style made it fun. I would take fun over the realism and simulation any day. We just want to beat the hell out of our opponent and pin them 1-2-3...LOVE WWE SmackDown SYM

Way more impactful. The way the ring reacts to the moves also sells it. It's great.

I really loved the animation used for Booker T when he does the Scissor Kick, followed by the Spinaroonie. Looks exactly like the one he did to the Big Show at Survivor Series 2001.
That second Pedigree still remains the best animated IMO.
this game seriously has to be remastered. Wat I like about the finishers on this game is the impact it made on the canvas. I think if enough of us got together on here .we could demand a remastered version of this.

6:25 I know people hate the Overdrive but I’ve got mini nostalgia for it. When I first got Shut your mouth about 6 years ago, my first season playthrough was with Orton, I built him up to main event status and even though he was rookie Orton without RKO’s and Evolution by his side I still enjoyed using him
Animation is soooo good, love the little gestures like Jeff moving, Scotty is still in his dance groove and Hurricane still posting.
Getting high and playing this game with my friend back in the day was the shit. Countless matches between Stone Cold and Triple H.
I don't know why, but when I used to play the older games like these, I loved the animations and how they looked. Waaayyyy better than the new games. Im still debating weather or not I should buy a PS2 again and get Shut your mouth and Here Comes the Pain...

U can use emulator on PC, I used it and I can play HCTP and other PS2 games

Best Swanton Bomb I've seen in a game
I agree. At least in the old Smackdown games after Shut Your Mouth, they would keep Jeff Hardy's Swanton Bomb in the WWE games in the create-a-wrestler moveset even though Jeff Hardy wasn't in any WWE games after this till WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2008. But compared to these WWE games being made by 2k nowadays, the Swanton Bomb has looked awful in WWE games sinced SmackDown vs RAW 2011. Instead of keeping in the beautiful looking Swanton Bomb that Jeff Hardy had in the very last WWE game he was (SmackDown vs RAW 2010) for the games that came after that in the create-a-wrestler preset moves or (at least in the create-a-finisher). The developers removed it.

Things that still strike me about this great game. The roster, and the fact that its editing section had numerous classic wrestler faces ready to be made into a full legend superstar (you can find the guides online, I added around 25 legends to the standard roster. And the Royal Rumble. In this version, you could be smashed over the top rope in any way, punched kicked thrown, all the new games require wrestlers to be weakened until they can be eliminated, and only special animations for the throw out.
This game was so seamless pure action wise, with my Roster, when I play it, it reminds me of Wrestlefest. I should add Demolition, then I'd have the full 91 Wrestlefest Roster lol

Love when finishers felt like finishers and not jus another move
This right here, along with Here Comes the Pain, are not only in the top 5 best wrestling games of all time, but are the best of the Smackdown and SVR series. The gameplay, story mode, high selection of matches and the backstage brawling makes these games damn near flawless. They did make finishers a little too powerful in this game, though, that seems to be the main complaint.
I think it works, though. Finishers are supposed to be powerful, however not every wrestler's finisher is a finishing move. Also some finishers like Jericho's Lionsault Pin were auto-wins, especially if the CPU uses it.
Bubba Ray & DDP basically have the same finisher but with like 1% different animations between the both lmaoo

The animations, the finishers had no limit you could be Benoit and flying head but off the fist or rvd and frog slash from a latter set up in the ring to the announcers table.perfection

Smackdown series' wrestling canvas were much bigger than the 2k series. I've noticed the proverbial wrestling ring was much bigger back then vs the squared mats past '09, also.
I understand zooming the camera plays a big part in that also, but there is still a difference in size.

Lita's Moonsault was glorious. And Jericho's Lionsault. Heck, most of the high-flying finishers look good.
Anyone remember that Stunner that could be spammed? It didn't required a finisher slot, but Stone Cold could hit the move out of standing grapple. It was a weaker stunner that would prop the opponent back to their feet and stunned for a bit. And, if the opponent wasn't quick enough to reverse the move, Stone Cold could hit the move over and over, until earning a finisher slot for the real Stunner.
I spammed the fuck out of that move lol

Fun fact: Big Show's finisher(The Showstopper) animation is present in wwf smackdown 2, even though he was not present in the game(officially atleast, his character model is still in that game). They reused the animation here.
I never owned this, but I had SvR 06 on the PSP, and its fun to see which animations were carried over and which ones weren't lol.

The finishers in these old smackdown blows wwe 2k out of the water the animation was never over the top it was the right amount of flow that makes the smackdown games stand out you got unique wrestlers with fighting styles like Rock Austin triple h hogan Rob van Dam Brock lesnar Jericho angle Guerrero Benoit among others this game doesn’t get the proper love it really deserves smackdown shut your mouth is truly a very underrated game of the smackdown franchise
