Thank you, I really appreciate this explanation. It is a huge subject. I took a course on keeping time and they barely approached the subject of playing ahead and behind. In this free video you have provided already more insight. Tony Levin said there would need to be a whole book to cover this subject. I love your advice to transcribe and play along with Ray Brown and also not confusing playing ahead with speeding up. Thank you for the great content that you put out. ❤

Please use 180 degree shutter angle for smoother motion. Thanks

I find choppy video nauseating. When you set the shutter speed to be double the frame rate, you get natural-looking motion blur and no choppiness that comes from higher frame rates that people typically use to reduce exposure which is better done with the lens aperture or neutral-density filter. @@eckie4679

Here’s a professional musician explaining what you have to do and people on here wanting to learn but aren’t gonna listen and do.

To me, being a bass player is all about mastering the pocket. You can tap, slap, do some mutated Davie504 style, but if you can't master the pocket, it's pointless.
Technical practice is good, but mastering the pocket is the path to greatness.

maybe you should have taken a seat and put that upright bass aside if you were not going to play it anyway. I was actually hoping to hear some examples.

This is a topic where you need to hear examples, not descriptions.

Listen to what he’s saying and figure it out first yourself maybe

@@eckie4679 Well, that's obviously an option, but actual examples are always the best way to teach. Speaking as a music instructor myself.

He’s not talking nonsense. I think you’ve missed the point which is getting away from mechanical aids like videos showing you how to play, click tracks and mertonomes and trying to figure it out for yourself 🤔
