It’s the unexpected plot that makes it work compared to horror-themed shows. In those shows, you expect to be scared, so the fear don’t doesn’t hit as hard. Meanwhile, when you expect something plucky and full of adventure, sudden horror is a sucker punch.

    • @Blaze4ification
      @Blaze4ification Před 4 měsíci +13

      @@lmg-desi-yt
Ehh no it's different, because Wendigos are cannibals. They also aren't deer, they just have features of some animals such as deer and wolves, like the horns, while the origins of its name are derived from a word meaning owl. They're either just an amalgam monster, appearing human like, or spirits that possess humans that have resorted to cannibalism, and the latter is generally the more accepted one especially to many Native American tribes. Until Dawn, Pet Cemetary, Supernatural, that one SCP all contain wendigos.
Along with generally Wendigos are represented with a deer skull, not a full on deer, it is probably more so based off another cryptid called the not deer. Of which can stand on hind legs, its eyes are on the front of its head, like a carnivores rather than on the sides like normal deer, it chases people up trees. It looks like just any other kind of deer until you keep looking at it for a long period, or it starts getting closer to you. Like uncanny valley, are you looking at a deer, or... something else?

The episode was trying to make us think that Jake did it and had gone crazy from the head injury he got from the deer but, Nux for the entire episode was too fixated on the deer to even buy into that possibility. Also, when the deer stands on its hind legs and reveals it has hands, that's peak creepy character design.

The Stag is one of the show’s creepiest character even storyboard artist & lead designer Andy Ristaino agrees to this, & this is one of the scariest episodes by the fans
    - “No One Can Hear You” title is maybe a reference to a quote form the movie “Alien” that being "In space, no one can hear you scream" which makes more connection to the movie with the Stag sticking the Candy People in the sewer by goo just like the Xenomorphs did, but with the balloons Jake wears & carnival music that play in the sewer is also references to “It” by Stephen King
    - While the title card is a reference to the famous painting called “The Scream” by Edvard Munch while also being a reference to Alfred Hitchcock
    - When Finn is running away from Jake his leg casts breaks similarly to when a young Forrest loses the braces on his legs while when he wakes up after a medical procedure only to find the Candy Kingdom empty is similar to the beginning of the movie “28 Days Later”
    - Notice that if you look in Jake's tent there is a picture of him & Finn that looks like characters drawn by artist Keith Haring & also there is a comic book called "Man Man" as a parody of Batman

There is a theory regarding the deer and it is that if you remember the chapter "very young" Princess Bubblegum says that to grow and increase the mass of candy she needs: mass of candy (as the candy people were in that same chapter) and something like saliva to join them and finish it off with some "heat"
The theory says that the deer planned to recreate it on a large scale using the entire kingdom, but it is something that was never clarified until the end of the series.

    Fun facts about this episode:
Finn is seen bathing for the first time, contradicting his statement about not bathing in "Too Young."
Gingerbread Muto appears at the beginning near one of the houses at the right side when Finn and Jake are chasing the Stag.
When Finn looks into the sewer the first time, the manhole reads CKPW (presumably meaning: "Candy Kingdom Public Works") and has a picture of a cupcake.
The title card music for "Five Short Graybles" plays toward the end of the episode, after the Stag washes down into the sewers.
This episode is often considered the scariest episode of Adventure Time by fans.
    Cultural references:
The episode's title may be a reference to the tagline for the 1979 movie Alien, which was "In space, no one can hear you scream."
Another reference to Alien is when Finn goes to the sewer and discovers that the Candy People are stuck on the walls by a kind of goo, much like what the Xenomorph do to their victims.
The title card resembles the famous painting The Scream by Edvard Munch.
When Finn runs away from Jake and his leg casts break is very similar to a scene from Forrest Gump where Forrest loses the braces on his legs as a kid.
In Jake's tent is a picture of him and Finn that somewhat resembles characters drawn by artist Keith Haring.
Finn waking up after a medical procedure only to find the Candy Kingdom empty and abandoned is similar to what happens to Cillian Murphy's character at the beginning of the movie 28 Days Later.
The lettering on the title cards is similar to that of Saul Bass's work, better-known for making the title sequences and poster for many Alfred Hitchcock films.
In Jake's tent there is a comic book called, "Man Man," which closely resembles the Batman comics.
Continuing with the horror references, the fact that Stag's lair is down in the sewer (where he meets his demise), the imagery of the balloons Jake wears, and the haunting snippets of carnival music that play may be references to the story It by Stephen King.
    Storyline analysis:
Finn would have died if left in a coma unattended for more than a few days.
However, there is a theory that each citizen in the Candy Kingdom was kidnapped one by one by the Stag within the 6 months time span-meaning that for every Candy Person that was kidnapped, there was still one to take care of Finn while he was in a coma, until the Stag kidnapped them. This could mean that Finn recovered shortly after the last Candy Person who took care of him (as well as the last one to go missing) was kidnapped by the Stag.
Jake says that Finn had been in a coma for six months. However, Jake's head injury may have made him say a falsehood.
This is supported by the fact that Finn says his legs are "still broken," despite him being shown to have extraordinary healing rates in other episodes. After six months, even a normal person's legs would be healed, but would have atrophied. However, it's also possible that his remark about his legs still being "broken" was a joke, considering he was laughing after saying so and Jake laughed with him.
    Errors:
When the comic Jake kept in the box is first seen, it says "Manly Man," but it says "Man Man" in its second appearance.
Finn shouldn't have taken a shower in the fountain while in his cast, because casts aren't allowed to get wet.
All the beds in the hospital have a sign to write names on at first, but the one with Finn's name and others disappear during Finn's stay.
When Finn punches Jake, he lands next to a wrench and a toolbox, which is not seen again.
When Jake regains consciousness, he is not behind a door, while in the next frame, he is.
During the zoom out where Finn tells Jake he imprisoned the candy people, Peppermint Butler is not covered in saliva, and Princess Bubblegum disappears from where she was first seen. When Jake reaches out to free Peppermint Butler, he is covered in saliva again.
In the final scene, Peppermint Butler and other candy people are not seen flying while hanging from each other's legs.
It appears the number of candy people Finn first sees does not match the rescued ones.
When Finn goes back to the tent to tell Jake that he heard candy people in the sewers, the knife Jake keeps in the box next to the mattress is no longer there.
When Jake reveals he has been waiting for six months and bugs start to crawl on him, his cape is gone. It reappears as Finn starts to move away from the tent.
When Finn "pops his top", his nipples are visible. However, when he walks into the fountain to bathe, they are gone.
When the stag is hit with cinder blocks his fingers are shown. As the candy people roll him to the drain he has his hooves back on (and while spiraling down the drain).

I got a question for you, the viewer. Out of all the old gen CN mc's (Steven U., Gumball, Finn, Mordecai/Rigby etc.) Which one deals with the worst injuries on a daily basis?

    • @garuelx8627
      @garuelx8627 Před 4 měsíci

      Rigby.

    • @claytonmoore9626
      @claytonmoore9626 Před 4 měsíci +3

      I'd say...
      1. Gumball already has "toon-force" on his side (where he can basically take a bonkers amount of physical damage in one scene, and bounce back good as new in the next).
      2. In SU Future, it was proven that Steven's gem powers can automatically heal his body should they take physical damage (really, the epilogue series was more-so focused on his mental trauma than anything else).
      3. Mordecai & Rigby... despite the wacky yet grounded premise of the show, for the most part, they often manage to make it out of bad/deadly situations alive [or otherwise unscathed], until they ultimately have to do it all over again in next episode.
Besides the numerous bruises they leave behind when socking each other in the face every now and again, I can't think of any life-altering injuries they've sustained which lasted for more than a couple episodes' runtime (Really, some episodes, I feel like the park itself takes more damage than these two, half the time).
      4. Finn, on the other hand, despite coming across many crazy artifacts which would've easily healed his body multiple times over, as the series went on, he has clearly been scarred in more ways than one.
The man has been pummeled numerous times by villain and monsters alike, got both his legs in a cast from a deer, had his own mortal body mutated by various magics over the course of the series... one of which literally caused Finn to lose his entire arm up until the final season where he had to replace it with a cybernetic prosthetic.
Out of all the 2010's CN veterans, I'd say the injuries Finn takes throughout the course of Adventure Time more than takes the cake.
