- Prospector's Aura is WEAK. The Kobold can do far more valuable things rather than just follow you around. Try out some of these advanced tips and tricks in your next game and feel super cool and awesome and make the Kobold happy.

This will be a video series of assorted tips and tricks and what have yous for Dota 2. These aren’t meant to completely cover any given topic. It won’t always explain why or when to do something. They won’t always be cohesive either. It’s just meant to show you that you can do something. Dota 2 is complex. Sometimes people ask why a certain decision was made, but it’s so hard to explain, there’s so many connected events that lead to that split-second decision. These are those singular events.
I'm not saying you need to do these things to be gain MMR, nor am I saying that all high skilled players will do these things. I'm just saying that you should please watch my videos and hopefully they won't be the worst thing you've ever seen.

Just to clarify a common question, I know the Tier 1 Neutral Items only become available at 7 minutes, but didn't want to wait for that to start recording so I just cheated the item in lol. If you choose the Trusty Shovel, you'll have it until at least 17 minutes, so there will be the 14 minute Wisdom rune and ~5 Power runes. Many people keep the Shovel in the backpack to use beyond that as well. The concept is exactly the same for the later times as what I showed in the video! Apologies for the confusion!

dota will make you think a second is a minute waiting for tenths of a second to count down before you either kill or die.

With my stupid MMR we bundle up like idiots so it's actually like 100-120 gold per minutes

-60 hp/s debuff to the team, that dug up kobold
chance of getting a trusty shovel is increased to 100%
chance of digging up a kobold is increased to 50%
Trusty shovel is underutilized in dota. I always use it on my cores and keep it on my backpack even with t2-t4 neutral items. The tidious part is keeping the extra salve and mango.
OR
Immediately group as 5 everytime you dig up a kobold.
That way the prospecting aura is worth 5 times as much.
Thats 20G per person FOR 5 PEOPLE instead of just 1.

but wouldn't your cores get way more gold than just 20 gpm if they go farm? I mean if everyone is like sieging tower then maybe, but even then if you ended up on a siege situation then probably it would be way more useful to scout tree line right? (unless it's a hg tower)

Ya, you forgot a good one. Say you're channelling something and there's a pudge or mirana in the game. You can micro it to take the bullet for you. Or you can use it to body block in fights - especially if you're already dead.

I thought you are going to talk about having it follow the carry. I did use it to follow me but after some times I dont see me getting rich so instinctively I have it follow carry instead.

kobold might only be 20 gpm, but base value according to the wiki you start out at 90, scaling up to 150. which means in theory a kobold for the first 12 minutes of the game before the first scaling tick is literally a 22% increase in your gpm looking at you chen. which means philo stone 75 GPM at 17 minutes is 94 GPM is a WHOPPING 79.787% INCREASE TO YOUR GPM. if you combined a kobold creep with philo stone on a hero like chen for the entire game. you would have a 101% increase in GPM scaling down to a 63.33% at 175 minutes. Pretty much speaking
TL:DR GPM boosts like kobold and philostone are actually kinda fucking busted ESPECIALLY on supports that do not farm. as you are literally doubling your gold value if combined, 20% for kobold and 79% on philo stone.
Great point! If Kobolds were long-term and consistent, I would definitely see more value in keeping it near you for the effective GPM increase. 20gpm over 10 minutes would be 200 which is nice. But since it's random when you get the Kobold AND it's slower than you so it doesn't even stay near you for the full minute if you are moving around, I feel like there's more value in these other options. Or another way to put it, assuming the max 30 gold, or even assuming max 150 gold of the Kobold sitting next to my entire team the full minute. I would literally pay more than 150 gold if I could guarantee deny the enemy wisdom rune or the power rune from the enemy while still getting to do other things. 150 gold feels a little expensive for vision, but at the same time finding a kill or avoiding a death will definitely be worth more than 150 gold. 150 for a stack is probably not worth it, but in reality it's more like 20-60 gold which would be less than an Ancient/Hard stack
@@ZQuixotix his theory Sounds GOOD but its not a good option, as a Chen INSTEAD of having a kobald, u can have any strong neutral creep that will benefit ur game way more than a 13dmg 20gpm kobald. You can simply take a big creep and farm with it faster therefore more gpm+exp. Or you can use the big creeps to harass opponents therefore less gpm for your enemies is more gpm for you+the extra space for ur team. Because all that matters is the difference between your gpm and the enemies gpm, if you have 12gpm and the enemies have 7gpm, then you are still winning even tho the gpm is ridiculous.

I would rate it very poorly haha. Unless there's some interesting interaction I've never heard of, always open to new stuff, but from what I know it doesn't really make sense for Oracle outside of low rank chaos
@@ZQuixotix for epic heals. You get hill troll priest +15 heal amp aura, holy locket +30 and troll auto heals if you tell him. There is also few other cool auras to play with. IDK kinda wanna try it because he's not depending on items that strong like mirana or other sups
Tier 1 tokens show up starting 7min. Carries mostly farm jungle at around 10min. Having the cobolds do something significant after laning stage is just near impossible. And really, the 7min rune?
2:36 I'm sure you cannot get trusty shovel before min 7/wisdom rune. Maybe what you meant is to deny the wisdom at min 14? Or am i missing something here?
yeah I think he missed that. you absolutely can deny the 14 mins wisdom rune, but I not convinced that is what he meant.
Yeah I was just using the 7 minute rune as an example so I didn't have to wait for the 14 minute one. 14 minutes you're likely to still have the shovel if you've picked it, any of the later runes you might have a chance if you keep the shovel in the backpack. It's random when you get the Kobold so it's not something you can always do but just a neat trick to keep in mind when things do line up
I just let my kobold follow my carry most of the time since im busy soing something for the team.

Its useless . Would rather take 12% movespeed kobald and dominate lane, rotate faster, get in position faster than having that 20gpm

You will get to farm your first tier 1 neutral items at seven minute mark and the first wisdom rune spawns at the same time. It's unlikely possible to camp the enemy's seven minute mark wisdom rune with a Kobold.
You're right, but I think it was just poor wording on his part - every 7 minutes beyond that, more runes spawn. As such, the multiples-of-seven minute marks beyond the first the advice CAN apply to.
That would be a classic 'um ackshully' if only one rune spawned 🤣

ah yes, the calssic Kobold 7min wisdom rune deny, you need to be ranked in top 10 to do it.
Here's why the kobold is OP:
1) it lasts for 60 minutes
2) you can summon it pre-7 minutes to play around the wisdom rune

Jokes Aside I'm one of those who only keeps it around be like a pet cuz I'm lazy. This video gives me motivation to run it around the map to do something more productive than earning passive gold.
The only exception is when your team clumps up and do nothing, it'll give the team 100 gpm 😂😂

its still only 100 gold if you group up under its aura as 5 for a whole minute

Bro its only 20 gold a minute and it only lasts for a minute, thats 100 if you had it on all 5 heroes which you wont. denying a wsidom, a bounty or scouting a gank is worth like 3x-5x more than the theoretical 100 and like 15-25x more than just the regular 20.
Usually I set it to follow my carry, and I keep clicking on the aura. But these ideas are much better!
