- Primal soon reaches the Planet Buster and gives the order to blow the hatch seals, but the hatch is sealed and locked! Megatron appears on his comm screen to gloat. As the timer counts down to zero, Primal pounds on the sealed hatch, to no avail. The transwarp cell explodes, and high above the planet, the Planet Buster is annihilated... along with the pod ship and Optimus Primal. Rhinox hooks himself up to some equipment for an unnamed purpose. Rhinox, who has finished, tells the Maximals they must hold the Predacons off. Inside the Axalon, a charge hits the device Rhinox was connected to, heading to a stasis pod with a blank protoform. Outside, the shields fail under the fire. The Predacons seriously injure the Maximals. The Predacons approach, prepared to deliver the killing blow. Before they can finish the Maximals off, there is an explosion in the hull of the Axalon. When the smoke clears, the Maximals and Predacons alike are shocked to see the cause of the explosion-Optimus Primal. The Predacons attempt to destroy him, but Primal, now with his own Transmetal body, causes the Predacons to scatter. Primal takes to the air, dispatching the rest of the Predacons. Megatron attempts to kill Primal, but Silverbolt knocks Megatron off a cliff, defecting to the Maximals.

Fun Fact: Optimus Primal was a jet type autobot before arriving to Earth, and the blank slate he's downloaded into was intended to be a Cybertronian surfer/riot cop(?), but Hasbro nicked the idea, so the Devs compromised the models, which is why the result was a bit off in synergy

When I was young, Optimus's death was the last episode in Korea because, I remember, later episodes were not imported anymore. I was shocked and learned good side do not win always.
If you can understand English well enough the complete series is on a free streaming service called Tubi including the episodes after this and the Sequel series Beast Machines.
It's honestly why I liked Beast Wars so much: They weren't afraid to let the bad guys win. And not just little things either.

Its interesting to see that this Optimus Primal acted much more bitter and darker compared to Season 1. He was much less naive and less optimistic. Death killed a lot of his "optimism" (pun intended)
TBF he died when he attempt to destroy the alien construct but Megatron sealed the pod.

I admit the moment I saw this scene I cheered like nobody's business, and I think I might've gotten the other neighbors attention thinking something was wrong with me😅
One thing that always got me about the end of this series, they still had a lot of stasis pods floating around in space when they went back to Cybertron.

My biggest complaint with this version is that it didn't stick around long. I would have also liked Rhinox getting a transmetal body in the cartoon. I know after BM, the remaining Vox reborn
ecreated him into a transmetal body to help fix things.
From what I heard the reason why Rhinox never got a Transmetal upgrade in spite of the toy was because either the show's staff didn't want to make a new model for him or couldn't think of a way to make Rhinox more relevant at that part of the show beyond the "Medic and tech guy" type.
It kills me the fact that not only Rinox got out transmetal toy, but so did airrazor and tigertron.... the last two had to be killed off, which made me mad after going through so much with them....Just like Dinobot.
I’ll never forget the free “Beast Wars” VHS my brother and I got at Kay B Toys for buying Inferno. The tape had the first 2 episodes of season 2 and it was watched to death and awesome!

What ? In Other Visits Part 1 everybody transforms to robot mode in the same scene. Megatron blasts Optimus in robot mode in the Agenda Part 2. Optimus is also in robot mode when Megatron gets captured by Ravage the episode prior, and they both can be seen in the same shot.

No offense to the character artists, but this is probably the one Transmetal form that I always felt was a downgrade from their original design 😅
I remember the cartoonists weren't too happy with Transmetal Optimus not having major weaponry other than just a puny mace pistol. So they made their own fan mode with converting the backpack to some sort of machine gun harness. Still prefer more weapons though.
I agree. Taking his iconic faceguard was a big mistake and the way his legs work when he transforms is just bizarre. I certainly can't see Transmetal Optimus relaxing in beast mode the way base form Optimus did.

I think the downgrade might’ve been planned with Optimus primal’s transmental form as he died, and the spark was brought back to a blink, stasis pod and that blank may or may not have been exposed to the trans warp explosion in his beast form look better than the robot form.

Yeah I was pissed when Rhinox didn't get one, but everyone else did
He had one in the toy line, but it was never adapted into the series. Besides, I believe Rhinox had to stay the "weak link" of the Maximals, in order for the Beast Machines' story to happen.

@@kelz2.0 He was, before the Transmetal upgrade. After it, Rattrap's power clearly surpassed Rhinox. Maybe not for much, but it did. Besides, as the Beast Wars progressed, Maximals and Predacons became more machines than organics. In the end, the ones who kept their "basic organic" ended up being the weakest on both sides.

The Megatron scream reminds me of the scene in Demolition Man, where he screams at the car because it wont brake. "BRAKE NOW YOU MICKEY MOUSE PIECE OF SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!"

I quite like the trans metal optimus. Love how the beast mode gets a hoverboard, gives me some silver surfer vibes. It’s mainly the robot mode I have issues with. The shield and turret are really cool but that face just doesn’t work for me

@@lucaswilliamson5905 story wise the reason some of the characters didn’t become transmetal was because they were born planet side so the time wave didn’t affect them while in the case of rhinox and waspinator they both were shielded by healing chambers
I have to be honest among all the Transmetal Versions that these characters been upgraded, I believe Optimus Primal is easily the worst one for me. Cause when he is Robot Mode, he looks a Jacked Up Gorilla Body Builder and it looks ....mmm I'm sorry, it looks weird and looks a walking robot furry. Even the Beast Mode looks too creepy. The only thing I like about this design is his Massize Machine Gun and he has Hoverboard. But I will say this, this design still looks alot better than his design in Rise Of The Beasts, like the Gorilla Mode is awesome, but Robot Mode looks bland, boring and no colour on him except for his green eyes. At least this design has colour even it's too bright in Beast Mode.

I agree. I had the original and optimal Optimus toy as a kid. I didn't want Transmetal Optimus Primal. I didn't like the tiny legs and the face. He also look weird in beast mode. On the other hand I think Transmetal Megatron Look the Best. I didn't like Transmetal 2 Megatron. It was my Favorite beast wars toy. I wish I had the original form also. But I never find it when I was young.

I wonder if the pod they used was the third one you seen in the coming of fuzors episode. There was a scene in the storm where one of the pods had a hand that was lifeless due to its loss of spark
Nope, that one was dead. The pod they used was a sparkless protoform found elsewhere.
From what I've heard, there ship had a few blank protoforms stored on the ship for whatever reason which is what I think Optimus went into.

I never understood the difference between Optimus Primal/Prime or how both major bads were both called Megatron but interacted with the G1 versions... can some briefly explain? I've never been a fan of the Beast Wars/Machines, these were out when I was a child but the first I saw was the 1983 movie then Armada after that and kept up with til Cybertron and sort of stopped until Prime came out and loved the lore and the Cybertron games but I never understood how the Maximals and Predacons stood seperately, they wouldn't be very subtle either compared the Transformers we know and love and I'm not saying the Beastformers are bad, just not my cup of tea.
The Maximals and the Predacons are the descendants of the Autobots and the Decepticons respectively. Optimus Primal was a ship's captain, and is the descendant to Optimus Prime. Megatron, the Predacon one, is a criminal who renamed himself after the original Megatron, for the clout and intimidation factor.
Beast Wars takes place on ancient Earth, while the Ark is still buried under rocks inside that volcano; The Maximals and Predacons don't realize they're on ancient Earth until season 2, eventually it was revealed the Predacon Megatron's actual goal was trying to get to primitive Earth all along, to kill Optimus Prime while he was comatose inside the Ark and change history. And he came pretty close to it.
...So I started with G1 and I'm deeply curious how you think that transforming into human-scale animals is less subtle than 10-30 feet high robots transforming. One of the things that always drew me to Beast Wars is that it's a lot easier for them to hide in their native environments and subtly transform than trying to disguise yourself as a car when you can easily break the ground by putting your foot down a little too fast as part of transforming.
@@AstralFireIX a giant metal robot transforming into a truck makes more sense than a giant metal robot transforming into a metal Gorilla, not exactly the best disguise for the setting of the movie being in the 90s, I'm not saying its a bad concept or that Beast Wars/Machines was bad, I'm well aware of the divided fans and that it weighs more on the side of fans who love it and I'm part of a minority that just didn't like it. The Predacons in Prime were cool though but I'll always prefer the vehicle modes over beast modes

I think it was less about what they could animate and more about what could work as a toy. They can make anything transform to-from anything on TV, ie Beast Machines, but to sell toys the design has to work in the real world too. That's probably why they did the transmetal thing in the first place, new version of the character, new toy to sell.
They had to recreate the toy design, they didn’t intentionally want it to look this shitty
