@Joe Edmondson To weigh in as a huge Beast Wars fan and an even bigger glasses-adjusting neeeerd, I understand the line as "Oh, for bootin' up cold!" in reference to how doing a 'cold boot' of a computer system from a powered-off state is a more involved process than a 'warm boot' restart of a running system.

Primal has always been a favorite of mine, i really like that he wasnt a pure remake of Prime and was his own person with problems. i liked how he had to gain the respect of his crew and grew to become a true hero.

He plays the same role but his personality differs from Prime. Best analogy is to think of it this way: Prime is like general who leads an army. Primal is like a dad in charge of a family (that is sometimes dysfunctional).
At first when I watched bw I didn’t understand it much but as I grew older I really liked it except for predacon megatron that guy is just weird

Agreed. I wish that they kept things in line with season 1 though. I HATED that whole "truk, not munkey" line Primal haters had and used to ruin it. I loved it when they had their beast modes matter, energon scarcity was a real problem, and they didn't have those doofy third modes for those robots who got transmetal forms.
They never could figure out that Optimus Prime and Optimus PrimAL where two VERY different characters.

Primal is what G1 Rodimus should have been, had the g1 show had better writers for the 3rd season. I wish the beast wars animation could be updated. Annnnd Let's not pretend that G1 season 3 was a masterpiece. *runs from the g1 fans*

The best scene is Optimus Primal walking with Optimus Prime.
Much like his fellow Beast Wars Nemesis, Primal is the most successful Autobot/Maximal Leader. BW Megatron conquered Cybertron single handedly and Primal saved it in the same way.
Primal was the first Optimus I ever encountered as a child and he will always have a warm place in my heart and memories

Ahh, big bot. Always loved him as a leader. Strong, courageous, but had flaws and definitely more human than most commanders (Kinda like Animated Prime). Thanks for the basics.
I grew up with Primal and have its Master piece toy! Primal is always a inspirational to me when I was a kid. I'm happy that fan like myself always love the beast wars series and OP himself and he was voted winner as well.

Beast Wars is one of the best cartoons ever. So glad its starting to get the respect it deserves in the Transformers Universe.

Optimus Primal really deserved the title of Prime. Unfortunately, this also means we'll have to wait a long time before we get a toy of Star Saber (the G1 version, not the shameful IDW treatment).
I have always been confused about what their actual height is supposed to be. In the original beast wars cartoon the Maximals and Predacons were much smaller than the Autobots and Deceptions. Presumably because as the species evolved they also had to find ways to conserve energy. But in almost all other series or media they are portrayed as being about equal height to the Autobots and Decepticons. That would mean they shrink like Blaster or Soundwave when becoming beasts. Except Rattrap. He’s one of the Rodents of Unusual Size!
It's a shame they didn't get Gary Chalk back to voice Primal in Power of the Primes.
To be honest I would only hear Robotnik.

Personally, Optimus Primal has been my favorite Transformers leader.
My biggest gripe with the POTP web series is that Primal never transformed once during the whole thing!
Ramdeen Productions maybe too many curves? Everyone else was kind of blocky. If they could render him with 90s tech why not 2017 tech?

I always hated what beast machines did to all the maximals, the fact that they stare The matrix right in the face and can commune with it, yes the remote never has his moment of redemption with transmutate, it just wretches my gut, that was the perfect character to pull Optimus out of his zealous fervour, I feel like beast machines was simply away to tear beast wars down because G1 didn't want to have to deal with doing something better... It's a damn shame too
Growing up, Optimus Primal was one of my greatest role models. I'm glad he's gotten the recognition he deserves.
I always adored an older version of the first episode of Beast Machines, which went “Suddenly, a munkky races past”. Always made me laugh
I saw Beast Wars as a kid and didn’t really notice the hate for it. Probably because I also didn’t see the G1 shows which also means that the G1 throwbacks flew right above my head. I always liked Primal’s original form, meh on his Transmetal form and thought his Optimal form is cool as heck.
Really, Beast Wars was a very significant milestone in the Transfomers franchise. It introduced the concept of sparks, energon as a mining resource and pioneered the small, stranded motley crew philosophy.
I love how Takehito Koyasu the Japanese voice actor of Dio from JJBA, Deadpool in Marvel Disk Wars, Sartorius in Yu-Gi-Oh Gx, Paradox in the Original Yu-Gi-Oh and Ozymandias, Hans Andersen and Mephistopheles in Fate/ Grand Order voices Optimus Primal in Beast Wars for Japan and will voice him again in ROTB

I'm a G1 fan and had given up Transformers by the time Beast Wars aired. But I caught some episodes and have grown fond of this iteration of the franchise and have much respect for Optimus Primal, especially after this video. Great job!
You know, I imagined a Transformers Prime origin for the Maximals: In this series, Optimus Primal, Cheetor, Rhinox, Rattrap, Dinobot, Tigatron, and Airazor were protoforms found by the Autobots, who managed to activate them and give them alternate modes based of earth wildlife. But the Decepticons also found protoforms and also gave them earth beast alternate modes (Megatron named the Beast War Megatron after himself). After a battle with the Decepticon Beast, who betrayed the other Decepticons, the Maximals left the Autobots to continue the fight against Megatron II and his followers.
No, Optimus Primal is resurrected by Primus, the God of transformer. To take care of the child of primus. Optimus Prime is Orion Pax. All Autobots, Maximals and Predacons are the Essence and Scattered spark of Primus.
I can't lie I was one of the fans upset about Beast Wars at first. Then when I found out it was a continuation of the OG series. MIND was Blown and became SUPER FAN! #THatsJustPrime
This episode made me so happy, I hope this leads to the full return of Beast Wars.

I haven't seen Beast Wars, but I respect the fact that this was where Garry Chalk and David Kaye got their starts as "Optimus" and "Megatron" respectively; who essentially became the first recurring actors for the characters, as they would go on to voice the Autobot Optimus and Decepticon Megatron, respectively, in the Unicron Trilogy. While not as iconic as Peter Cullen, I think Gary did a decent job as Optimus; though I think David did an even better Megatron.

Optimal Optimus is my favourite Transformer toy of all time. It is the only Optimus themed quadruple changer that didn't need to combine with enhancement equipment or other Transformers in order to achieve its alternate forms. The toy, and the character from Beast Wars were so cool every time they transform.

Man, when I was in 4th grade my two brothers and I went to catch the bus with a girl in my class, Courtney, while our main baby sitter was moving. we got to watch this before we caught the bus and it was amazing! We used to pick a character from the show and pretend to be that character in acting out scenes from the show or that we made up (I don't know if anyone else did that when they were kids too or not). It was just a really good time that show.
and then Dee Dee was done moving we had to go back to watching Blue's Clues. -_-

I grew up with Beast Wars and was a super fan, collecting all the toys, watching reruns over and over until I could almost recite the scripts by heart. Never much cared for Beast Machines, but Beast Wars was my jam. XD
I think I like him best as a Warrior from Onyx Prime's tribe, that was made and named in Honor of the Arisen, the 13th Prime, Optimus Prime. Although as a desendant of OP he too fits well, but how to explain it is the key...maybe Primus made him in fact as part of Optimus and had him come online in Onyx Prime's tribe.
We need a new beast wars cartoon, I loved watching that when was kid. A unique take on it would be interesting like the take with autobots and decepticons in various tv series. Let's hope ^^

The transformers show was a little before my time I grew up with Beast Wars the Optimal Optimus was probably one of the most epic transformers toys that I ever had (wish I would have kept it but I still have my early 90s optimus prime with the voice box and black trailer

I've been recently thinking it would be great if Transformers toys went in the direction of making supporting characters from the original fiction, such as the Transorganics, even if they don't transform. I'd be way more accepting of that than of non-transforming Action Masters, but my wish is likely far too niche.

My only question is:
When Megatron freed himself from the Maximal ship allowing himself to reach Cybertron before them, How the hell did he manage to take over the planet?
In Beast Wars, it is revealed that the Predacon council consider him a criminal. So how did he manage to overthrow them before robbing the sparks of the entire population?
@@o_o-037 I think I remember hearing that Megatron got ahold of an old contact, a crime boss, for help once he got to Cybertron. Some time later Megatron unleashed a virus to force others into their weaker alt modes and stuff like that. He also had to be very sneaky. That's at least what I remember hearing years back.

There is also an Animated version of him called Primal Major who was bonded to an Omega Sentinel called Alpha Supreme (codename axalon). What's funny is that he and his crew got trapped in a time vortex loop thing by animated sideways who was trying to get to shanghai.
Another great video. Having grown up with the original series, I was actually a fan of the BW animated series once I saw it. I thought its story far more interesting (and often amusing) than the original concept of continuing the original. I felt that Optimus Primal lived up to his ancestor's humanity, that he was more than a warrior. I am glad both for this video and that he is finally getting his due.
I actually really like the Universe Optimus Primal colors. Hope the new Kingdom gets a similar repaint.
I’m not a huge Transformers fan or collector, but Beast Wars was my show back in the 90’s before and after school! I recently picked up Optimus Primal at my local Target and I gotta say, I’m super Stoked for this line to be coming back out and the Primul figure is awesome!
