Thank you, Graham. My interest in the hobby has definitely been piqued again. I inherited my grandfather's Canadian collection (back to the 3p beaver) years ago. I have dipped my toes into the hobby many times over my 50 years but have never kept it up. But I think your videos have made it all that much more interesting. Glad that I have seasons worth of videos to watch!!

I've never commented on CZcams before but your channel felt me compelled to do so. I have watched all your episodes and they are nothing short of fantastic. Well made, with great effects and with loads of historical facts - all in all frankly worthy that of a million+ subscribers. Clearly one of the best CZcams channels there is. Please keep up this great effort.

I just found you in Linn's Stamp News Most Influential Philatelists of the World 2022 and Their Epic Stamp Stories". (in which my wife Cecilia and I are also featured) Wow. Just Wow. Your stamp story is nothing short of epic. I have to pack out today for the next road show next weekend and I can't get my van loaded because I'd rather watch your videos. I've watched a number of them and they are fantastic. Even, I, collecting since age 8, have learned so much from your videos right from the first one. Phrygian Cap for example. I had no idea. Thankyousoverymuch! -Michael Ball A to Z Stamps, Phoenix AZ

Just inherited my father's collection. He was a world known stamp dealer and appraiser for several auctioning companies. I want to learn as much as i can about stamps so as to best honor his memory in restoring and expanding his already huge collection. Thank you for making this interesting series.. I will be following and learning alongside you. Subbed and liked. Soon i will also make videos sharing this new hobby with you guys.

I just discovered your channel after a BBC article about stamp-collecting was shared with me.
I collect stamps for the very same reason you say when you open this video: not for monetary value -- while I may have a small few that may fetch a good price, my collection is for the stamps themselves. They're art and they're history and they all have some kind of story to tell, whether it's about the artist who painted the picture or the person depicted, or the event depicted -- and then also, I marvel at the artwork itself and how a person or event is depicted.
I look forward to watching more and more videos.

Spoken like a true philatelist. Yes to all of that, when I made this video I knew very little about stamps and where they could take me, 70 videos later and I have been on an incredible journey learning about countries/history and gaining a strong appreciation for art. I think you will enjoy some of the other videos as well :D Glad you found the channel Robert!!

This design is a design I have always liked, i.e. Marianne that I have never collected. Perhaps, I should. My other favourite, which I do collect is the U.K. George V "Seahorse" issue of 1913-1934." I was a generalist for most of my collecting life, now I specialise.

Hello Richard, look for "stamp album stockbooks" you should be able to find varied sizes and prices even on Amazon. Stockbooks are the best way to get started in the hobby and allow you to arrange your collection any way you want.

Exploring Stamps Ah stockbooks! That was the term I was missing. I've heard it in various videos but assumed it was related to a business in some way. :P Thank you very much for your reply, and for all these very well made and entertaining videos that make the world of philately even more exciting.

Local tamp clubs have regular auctions where you can pick up lightly used blank albums for very attractive prices. Far less than the new additions that you can get from a dealer or on line. Join your local stamp club and while you are at it join the APS.

I've read recently that modern French Marianne stamps are issued as definitives for the basic postal rates. The design changes with each new French president and is based on a portrait of his wife. Well, eventually France will have a female president, and what then? Will Marianne become Micheal, the boy with the pistol in the painting???

The French do not place on their stamps the leaders of the revolution. I think it was because of their murderous ways unlike the US. The concept comes first in the minds of the French. I am a fan of those whose help rid themselves of their parasitic Bourbon rulers. Viva La France. I love French commemorative because their Artwork is superb and they look great in an album
