Thanks for the reaction. This is an old wedding ritual song, it's like a puzzle, it consists of phrases taken from ritual songs. Where it is sung in a whisper is like the words of a deceased mother, because in Russia since ancient times it was believed that the river is the border between the world of the living and the dead, as in the mythology of others countries. So the girl-orphan came to the river to tell the mother that she was being given away for the unloved, to a strange family, ask for blessings and cry.
The acapella version she does now that her voice is deeper is truly breathtaking.
It is hard to explain how good she is. I've run out of words...performance, acting, vocals, presence...all out of this world.
'Rechenka' is about a young girl whose parents have passed. She is about to be married and she comes to the river to speak to her mother's spirit who lives in the river.
Diana can sing better than anyone else, but no one can sing better than Diana!!!!

Diana’s dramatic interpretation is contagious. I have warmed up to Diana’s vocals incredibly since I first heard her singing. The wonderful unique Diana. The girl with a huge voice, an even bigger heart & wildly infectious smile. Clearly a huge career ahead. Your perspective picks up aspects that most don't. I particularly liked you tuning our ears to the slide with the echo. The other thing we picked up & enjoyed immensely was your absolute delight in this performance.
As you've probably learned in all the comments; Diana had a pretty tough start in life. Her biological mother was unwell; violent & neglectful & apparently she was found on the streets, aged 3, injured and abandoned and wound up in an orphanage. The woman you see in this clip is her 'real' mother who adopted her, aged 5. In this context it is even more of a joy to see her going from strength to strength.

About the song "Rechenka": This is an old ritual song about an orphan bride. The girl has no parents. The river was considered the boundary between the world of the living and the dead. She goes to the river and asks for the blessing of marriage. She says that there are many people at home, but there is no father and mother. You hear Diana singing in a whisper. These are the words of the deceased mother of the bride. Then the girl is crying. In Russia, at weddings they sang sad songs to scare away evil and the marriage of a young couple was to be happy. Such songs were called “weeping.” The figures behind Diana are spirits of water and forest.
I will explain to you the meaning of this old Russian song that was sung during the wedding. Since a much shortened version was made for the scene, not even all Russian people understand its meaning. An orphan girl from a foster family is married off (most likely, to a man older than her and not of her own free will). She comes to the river (reka), affectionately calling it rechenka. The river in the folklore of many peoples is the border between the world of the living and the dead. She turns to her deceased parents: she asks for advice and blessings. An orphan girl is faced with a choice - to drown herself, committing the sin of suicide, or still accept the circumstances and "go with the flow". What will she choose? This is decided by the audience together with the performer of this song.

Diana is a smart girl with her family and friends supporting her. It's strange how protective we are of Diana, I have had this conversation before with other Diana fans, no one is to harm a hair on that girls head, ever, she is just too precious.

If you want to go way back, there is a video of her yodeling on Utube on a Russian talent show when she was 9 yrs. Old. She didn't win because it was rigged for someone else to win. She sings another song after that. She will really blow you away if you watch them both. Thank you for your reactions of her.
That was on the Voice Kids Russia in 2017 when Diana was 13, the song was "Jodel Time" - she then she sang a fragment of Edith Piaf's "Non, je ne regrette rien". There is a video of her aged 10, covering The Beatles' "Oh Darling" on a radio station, which is astounding.
From the USA. I am a fan of Diana. There is no evidence that the game was rigged. There is a lack of understanding how the game is played. The people sitting on the chairs are coaches and do no judging. If they like the singer that they think they can help, they would turn around. The singer would then choose which coach he/she wants to belong to. It is the audience who decides who will win by voting (SMS). Since it is the audience who decides and the coaches do no judging, it is not possible for the game to be rigged. Also Diana was 13, not 9 years old. In a later interview, Diana said she was not angry that she was not selected. She said some doors will close , but other doors will open. She's used to it.

Diana had a tough childhood but thanks to her loving mother Irina Ponik (you can see her on the video, woman in the glasses) everything has changed for the better! So she translated the soul of the song 🎵 and we can get all wonderful emotions! Thanks for your reaction, like 👍
If you react to any more of her stuff I highly recommend searching through her CZcams channel and avoiding the HTB network channel. You'll bypass the algo nonsense. She even had a small lounge version of this song on her channel (without the dancers/docks/boat/etc). She does a lot of small venues. I think the harmonics in her voice show up even better without all the production. She really benefits from the less-is-more sound engineering of just letting her raw voice boom out.
More importantly; The songs people will ask you to react to can be found hosted on her channel. The only one I haven't been able to find outside the competition environment is her cover of Lara Fabian's Tomorrow Is A Lie. That one is worth doing even with the algo blocking headache, though (it's that good). The titles are not all in English, so it may be tricky for you to find them, but many of them have the song name in English. Something about the algo being used on HTB network videos now is really rough. Wasn't always like that, either. Kind of weird.
this is when I found/fell in love with her voice, high art from a 14 year old with a sound I have waited 50 years to hear, queen of goosebumps, high priestess of sound, goddess of music. Diana has had a terrible start to life but was rescued by Iriana Ponik from an orphanage were she worked. Diana was traumatised by what had happened to her and the neglect added some speech problems that were overcome through singing lessons, the show you are super is a talent show for disadvantage children, she won that, then Diana entered the adult professional competition, the show mask go on and won that, last week. I think that has brought you up to speed, Diana 18 years old dramatic contralto with polyphonic overtones and a massive larynx with what sounds like an auto-tuner but is in fact her amazing anatomy producing resonance. Just as impressive as her vocal and performance skills is the absolute confidence she projects. She’s totally present, in command, and unfazed onstage. You can clearly see it in all of her performances. To have that kind of self-assurance and mastery of her art at that age is beyond belief for anyone. To have it after having been abused, injured and abandoned in the street at the age of three by her mother is superhuman. That kind of experience would have broken most of us.

The Beatles' famous song Oh my dear was heard from Diana when she was 10 years old she sang on TV or radio but without any preparations people were left speechless! But there is one more very strong song Wild Horses written and sung by Wissotzky! Needless to say the first time she sang people did not believe that a 17 year old girl could sing a very hard and complicated song and she managed beyond all imagination to hear it

The song rechenka is a Russian folk song, even before Christianity, that an orphan girl comes to the river and prays to the spirits of nature. The song is about the death of my mother, father and brothers.
There are about 30 variants of this song, but the basis of the content of each of the variants is the sad appeals of the orphan bride to her deceased parents, asking them for "blessings" and help for marriage, for a family to strangers.
There are other versions of this song, where the heroine appeals to her brothers, and even to her parents, with a call to return to earth in the form of a bird to her native home.

The lady they cut to near the end was her adoptive mother, who taught her to speak by getting her to sing.
She is not singing; she is putting on a performance. Rechenka is a Russian folk song which accounts for some of its' tempo and sound. She is the "Orphan Bride" and sad because she doesn't have her parents to bless her wedding. Rechenka is "The River", the border between the living and the dead. Now for the repetition, you really do need a good set of headphones.

Is an old animation movie call Tha last unicorn, and in one scene the old man that captured all unicorns, but the protagonist that is in human form, used to see the forest reflected in her eyes until she start to fell in love and/or become human. Then when I hear Diana's voice that image comes to mind, she contain the wisdom of the forest and the word from ancient times. Is a gifted woman, superb storyteller
Hi You should react to Nightwish or the TV show Beste Zangers 2019. You should listen to Floor Jansen singing 2 covers Let it go and the other is from Frozen 2. She also has haa a duet with Henk Poort from Jeckl and Hyde Dangerous Game. Nightwish sings The Phantom of the Opera and so does Henk and Floor in Beste Zangers above.

This was my intro to diana 4 years ago - hooked me -- through her interviews and knowing something of it i am confidant she trances for the performance - or at least some - becomes the work (no distractions) then returns after - post emotional reactions -
