The easiest way to get over someone is by staring to date someone else. I’m glad she picked someone who was serious and nice, he may not be as good looking as her exes but at least he was man enough to put a ring on it.

When they broke up, I heard it did not end well between them. Vanessa has admitted that it got on her nerves when girls would blatantly flirt with him in front of her. I'm just speculating, but I think there may have been alleged hook-ups while they were still together.
It’s amazing how you can spend a decade with someone break up and then treat them like a stranger. And then find the love of your life after dating a couple years. And get engaged Vanessa was his partner during his Elvis filming career so I’m sure he’s thankful for that relationship it honestly seems less awkward like they didn’t even notice each other

I can understand why Vanessa avoided Austin because sometimes ex couples can’t always be a part each other’s life even when they’re friends. They can just be on good terms and it would be very awkward if Vanessa and Austin to spend time together again especially when they each have their own new love interests. Some ex couples just don’t want their reunion to be very complicated to each of their new love interests.
It’s just not a healthy emotional life to continue to communicate with your EX, it just stirs the pot(unless there is child or something like that). You broke up for a reason. I think they tried to make it civil, but they are going to run into each other if they are in the same biz. They have clearly moved on to love other people. They are now emotionally unavailable to others. Sure it’s going hurt, it’s loaded with resentment, full of roiling burning feelings. By now it’s been quite a while, 2 yrs? They should be well down the road, and if they are not, they shouldn’t be making commitments to anyone. Heal thyself!

Edit: I just wanna add for people saying he wasted her 9 years without a ring. He was only 19 when they started dating and she was 22/23 and they spent their entire 20s together. And 20s is a very crucial time period and that's when you actually become an adult and realise what you need and don't. Austin probably did not wanna marry so early and he was like what 28 at that time and he literally got casted in a big movie which could potentially change his career (Elvis, and it absolutely made him a star) they both probably realised they wanted other things in life. So lay off the hate.... They both are adults who made a decision for themselves

It can't be 100% alright between them if she glanced upwards and immediately walked around him and Sharon without blinking an eye and the fact that whenever he tells the story it's always "a friend of his" that was the one who told him he needed to play Elvis, but never mentions Vanessa. So either she wasn't telling the truth (which I doubt she'd lie about something like that), or he doesn't wanna give her credit for suggesting it in the first place for some odd reason.
