  • This hip airplane is perhaps the best mobility exercise for the back of the hip.
Most people think that you need to stretch to become more flexible in the hip. Stretching definitely helps. However, gaining balance and coordination will help more. If you don't want to feel so tight in your hip, you should absolutely add this hip airplane to your daily routine.
The hip airplane also is great for balance training and core stability.

Thank you! It's a great exercise! I think you should remind people to keep nice long back. A lot of people with "short/tight/ locked muscles like the Hamstrings tend to round their backs...

I noticed you don’t have a lot of machines in Embody. Can you do a video explaining the benefits of free weights?

    Excellent explanation. Thank you
Am I understanding correctly that the initial move of turning the raised leg towards the standing leg can be seen as a way of preparing/focusing on the glute of the standing leg, which then drives the move?

Thanks for watching. All of the movement should be through the hip that is the stance leg. Yes, focusing on the glute and all of the fine tuning rotators of the hip of the stance leg.
