I must say Seth won this week in my eyes, as he was the only one who actually played the game and broke the colour pie. Tomer was pretty close until the end.
I (personally) think Seth is pretty consistent when it comes to building towards the themes. He uses some cards we almost never see in mainstream play and they are janky fun with some legit synergies. I think his builds have the most heart.
Is tomer the worst for building to treme then?
@@loganshaw4527 Tomer is actually pretty alright when building towards a theme which is why I was so turned off this week. XD
@@shinobu-39 well if he is a blue player that is not unexpected. They love infinity combos.
@@loganshaw4527 it's not that he's playing blue. It's that they're trying to break the color pie this week. This specific combo is the opposite of color break XD
Feels like Richard should have included Psychosis Crawler in his deck. It burns players while also rewarding himself by drawing cards. Exactly what blue player burn should look like.
Can't believe some of you guys didn't say "Clash On". I'm sending a sternly worded letter to Goldfish HQ
Literally unwatchable 😢
An incredible disgrace. If I don’t get a mighty clash on it’s not Friday
I love that everyone hates to say it except Tomer, who is enthusiastic enough for *five* people.
@@danikahicks2210 Richard seems at least ok with it. He definitely doesn't hate it the way the rest of the crew does.
@@Welverin Richard will say anything for views ;)
Crim complaining about not being allowed to play Syr Konrad, while holding him in his hand, is peak AsianAvenger
He meant as commander tho
Tomer's words: "Guys guys relax I'm gonna do something cool"
Tomer's actions: Holding up Cyclonic Rift so that nothing the opponents do can ever matter
Running Cyclonic rift in an infinite turns deck really sounds like he was just using "Color Pie Break" week to argue his deck was weak enough to run the most playgroup banned cards he could.
That is why you kill before the do something cool. The rule of cool kills everyone at the table.
1:08:20 "I got Leaping Lizard" lol Seth is always a joy to have on the show.
Richard realizing his card was in GY at 49:00 was hilarious. The pure psychological damage that Crim inflicts with mill is unparalleled
followed by the psych damage at 1:18:00 to crim im dying 😆
Misery is back on the menu
I haven't lost many games by mill, but good lord will I ever remember some of them, 'Oh dear, was that the answer to my deck you were going to tutor up next turn that I just milled? Woopsies!' and then it's scoopy-time for me. It's entirely random, so it can be really good or really bad, it's like a 15 mana spell that lets you roll a d100 and divvy out the damage as you see fit, it can be a game ender or it can just do 1 damage to something. Mill either does nothing (or generates value for your opponent in some matches haha) or it completely nukes your deck, there doesn't seem to be a happy medium.
What your kill con got destroyed and you did not notice?
You guys should bring back that theme where you base a deck off a random card but instead, just use EDHrec's random commander feature so it doesn't get stuck in your deck.
Gotta say, it's amusing that the "break color pie week" ended up playing out about exactly how these colors normally play anyway.
mill mono black......
Your tables play green wrong then '^^
@@ruudvanlaarhoven5776 Play creatures and swing is the wrong way to play green? Are you fucking with me or have you not been playing for decades like I have?
Kinda right actually...
Green puts creatures and attacks, horribly but it's still what they do.
Both blue decks just play control and wait to assemble some awkward combo.
And black..
Black just killed stuff over and over, did it also mill? Very little as it sometimes does.
This would have been more fun if all decks were as pathetic as Seth's
"You may cast those cards as long as they remain exiled." Seth looking up Gonti like he doesn't trust the 7 mana black rare does something decent. Lol
When I saw that Richard wanted to play Mono-Blue Burn I thought he'd play something like the Owling Mine deck of the 2000s.
That brought back some good memories, thank you! What a unique and fun deck
@@DCode504 Ugh. Not me. Owling Mine always schooled me at FNM, and it was *not* a fun way to lose.
I had tears in my eyes laughing at Crim's Tomer impression! lol "OH! You better not be a Syr Konrad deck!"
My favorite part of the video was Richard forgetting that he played Cosima
I feel like mono black mill isn't quite enough of a color shift.
Yeah, should have been something like Mono Black Group Hug. But that's not the Crim way I guess.
It's not at all a colour shift.
It's close enough, I mean you could argue that mono-green flyers and blue landfall is not a colorpie break either. But honestly tho, does the colorpie even exist today? Lol 😅
Same with the infinite turns. Mono blue deck though...
It's one of the two only colors that do mill lol, its not even a color shift. It's like playing mono white equipment instead of boros.
You guys did do this color wheel break on easy mode (except Seth - Green was best pick for flyers) - here's what would have been much harder:
Landfall - Black
Burn - White
Mill - Red or White
Proliferate in red
white for mill red is to easy through artifacts
I’ll be honest, I think tomer could have tried a little harder to break the color pie than looping extra turns w mystic sanctuary. That is VERY blue.
Agreed. And mill isn't exactly breaking black's color pie either, just a lot worse without blue lol
I mean, the thing with Mystic Sanctuary is the same that with Field of the Dead. You can do lots of things with Lands in blue, but Mystic Sanctuary is Mystic Sanctuary. It wins games in mono-blue.
You can tell that he just wanted to win this week and didn't give a shit about the theme.
there also was the sunscorched desert+trade routes+retreat+atlas combo which feels a bit more on theme. I was excited to see roil elemental and then disappointed when it was discarded t1
@@ConiugatioPeriphrast yeah, turns out, such combos are easier to do with infinite combos.
Richard is right that artifact ramp is like creature ramp... and you should play more creature ramp. "Oh no, my Ignoble Hierarch died when someone wiped the board on turn seven." Cool but you played three extra threats before everyone else because you didn't land pass turn one. Edit: Also play Volcanic Offering. More! (targeted) Land destruction!
I'm surprised nobody played mono green burn with hurricane as there win condition with life gain to supplement it.
Someone played that in an earlier episode. I don't remember which season though.
I was really hoping he was packing Bee Sting in that pile
look at that nice eagle teaching a goat to fly.
Yeah, Tomer definitely didnt do a color break. Looping mystic santuary is 100% in color for blue. His deck was 1000% in color pie. Just a turns deck.
Tomer: complains every game about being targeted first
Also Tomer: runs repetitive combos that are way more powerful than all the other decks at the table 😮
I guess the others didn't get the memo it was grudge week
I think Cosima is excellent and I'm always happy when I remember to jam her in a deck
Another Tomer's moonfolk deck that wins with big blue cards with infinite combos and 50 cards deep has no moonfolk in sight. I'd give a DQ for that.
It's not a moonfolk deck, it just runs some moonfolk cards. And the last time I ran an actual moonfolk deck I ran every single legal moonfolk at the time and won with it.
1:25:33 Crim: "I threw out Mindcrank. I didn't play that." While I'm staring at Mindcrank in his deck list.
Vicious Rumors was so brutal in 2HG. My partner and I both had black and each had two Vicious Rumors and of the rats that had each opponent discard a card. Our final (2-0) round (which we split before playing), we both had Rumors and Rats in our opening hands. They were each down to three cards by turn two.
Y'all were some monsters lol. 😂
What we learned today is that Seth learned how Exile works for spell effects
love this theme! I think there are a lot more where this came from
I thought that monoblue lands would have some islandwalk + spreading seas shenanigans, and when I saw the decklist and turns out it's just a control deck using cosima as the draw engine, I was kinda bummed.
The best color break! Blue infinite turns! Not something you see in blue! 😂
Yes but remember, he also played lands. So that justifies it. Somehow.
Props to Seth for not taking the easy way out for Green fliers by including most of the Green Dragons. Honestly all the decks were neat, I'm curious why Richard didn't include psychosis crawler, seems like the perfect card for Blue Burn. Crim just proving that him and I are basically the same person with Mono black mill, I was very amused and seems like the kind of deck I'd play.
Tomer, did in fact win with Mono blue landfall. lol
New Rule should be if you don’t say “Clash on” you have to be hit first by each person who did say it 😂
@ Tomer,
I have a Cosima deck and it's fantastic ! Another avenue that gets tables scratching their heads is if you were to include:
-Pouncing Shoreshark
-Sea-Dasher Octopus
in the list.
When the mutated stack leaves, similar to undying, they each cards gains the ability.
& Parallax Tide + Teferi's Time Twist is a house for adding Landfall counters
The moment Tomer said "moonfolk" I was like "nooooo, not again with the moonfolks!!!" oh well, lets watch the game and see how did it go.
Two types of people. Tomer said Moonfolk and I was all in.
Im kinda confused, isn't mill a minor element of black? Like is that color pie break, because I've always seen it as a sub theme of black.
You could say the same about Mono Bkue spam infinite turns. Mono Black mill is worse than many of the better mill options but mono Blue is the KING of extra turn spam.
@@ArmageddonAsh i don't really defend the infinite extra turn, aside from it did require a land. But blue landfall as a deck feels alot more of a break then mono black mill which has quite a bit of support. Infact, it is literally one of the two colors that specifically DO mill. Richard and Seth feel like they really embraced the idea and got shafted for it. If Tomer had stuck to doing Cosmia stuff or something similar to that with interesting land stuff it would have been alot better
Mill is definitely more of a mono-colored mechanic than burn or flyers. Your argument here is that none of the decks broke the color pie. Which might be fair to say, I guess. Tomer's deck is the only one being egregiously disrespectful toward the theme of the episode. Non-blue mill is a crazy concept regardless of which color you pick.
@@dontmisunderstand6041 that isn't my argument at all. I specifically think Crim didn't try at all, Tomer tried and missed the point of the rule. Richard and Seth I think did well, none dragon flyers are rare in green and not that supported and burn without red or black is much harder to do.
@@dontmisunderstand6041 to add to my thoughts, while blue is the color of milling opponents, black is the color of everyone milling. I also believe balck is the color that has more payoffs for milling cards, though i could be wrong
Leaping Lizard is the new Fledgling Osprey.
I love Commander Clash, but this week seemed a little less than inspiring. That being said mono green fliers was sick
Tomer really said bring your color pie break decks against my infinite turn mono blue combo deck 😂
27:00 Crim: "Don't be suspicious. Don't be suspicious! Don't be suspicious. Don't be suspicious!"
1:01:54 Richard quoting Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente, I didn't expect that, but I'm glad he knows how impressive eagles can be
Glad to see Moonfolk Tribal back! :D
Yeah, I feel like everyone got in the spirit with silly low powered meme decks but the Blue Turns deck sure had landfall a little bit but was essentially just mono blue combo. More fun themes could've been
-Mono White Spellslinger/Mill
-Mono Green Control
-Mono Red Lifegain or Reanimation
, Etc.
I feel like Richard wins for flavor of theme this week followed by Seth, Crim, and then Tomer.
Fun episode but infinite turns is like everyone doing their talent for the talent show and then someone comes in and just rips a big one. 😂😭
I domt get how Crim's deck is a color break. Mill is a sub theme of black, with a fair amount of support. Tomer's deck, while definitely less of a break then Seth or Richard, atleast did relie on lands to do the combo, though the finisher he did was definitely the least breaking
@@direkitsune Yeah it's not much of a break but it's a bit more unusual than the standard but I still feel like it had an identity. Mono blue landfall felt like just regular mono blue tbh. They both felt like a stretch. Richard and Seth hit the mark but when there's such a gap the match didn't feel remotely equal.
@@hinatasninetailedfox agreed, Seth and Richard definitely embraced the idea more
@@direkitsune Seth is playing green creatures. That's not a color pie break. Him choosing bad creatures on purpose isn't a color pie break, it's a joke meant for everyone to laugh at. He even specifically points out that he didn't put dragons in the deck because it'd be too on-color despite fitting the "theme" he's claiming is a color pie break. Richard definitely respected the prompt most and Tomer the least. I think Crim was closer to not doing what mono-black likes to do more than Seth.
@@dontmisunderstand6041 I have to heavily disagree, mono black WANTS stuff in the graveyard, anyone's graveyard. And can gain the most from there. And has the means to facilitate exactly that. Is mono green creatures that new? No, but focused on flyers and trying to create an advantages board that way is much harder and less supported then the monoblack mill. Most color breaking? No, but definitely more off color then mono black mill
Tomer's off-color blue card-draw infinite turns deck 😂
Cool note for compass, deck thining with guarantee lands
i imagined shrine of burning rage at least said EACH player. richard what in gods name are you doing??
Not sure how "offcolor" a mechanic present in every color is for blue with the 2 biggest landfall commander being basically UG
I use Moonfolk combos in my Tatyova deck, which feels very, very Simic. I'm not sure Moonfolk are a full colour pie break, more of a light stretching maybe?
I miss my Cosima landfall deck occasionally. It did some really weird and wacky things with mutate, but ultimately every game felt very same-y.
Curious, why doesn't Tomer play Thawing Glaciers? Too slow?
tomer playing mono blue turns was a blessing not a curse; I am pretty sure none of us needed to see this game go 3 hours
I'm surprised no one did landfall+ramp with things like caged sun, all moonfolk and blue changelings, with patron of the moon as the commander. Easy to set up infinite landfall triggers.
How is mill a pie break for black. It's like the #2, mill color .
@Richard - Did Painter’s Servant not work?
Tribute Mage can get both the Servant and the Shrine.
Kinda surprised I didn't see Ghirapur Orrery in the Cosima deck
Yes! Been waiting for this! Love color pie breaking decks, from jank to competitive, it's awesome to think outside the box!
For Richard's Reference on the eagle flinging a goat:
czcams.com/video/VklTs-Tid_I/video.html
Richard could also play Armageddon clock as burn haha
Richard had some really funny combos but it was too bad we didn't get to see them. Also you see the shrine coming from a mile away
This was the opportunity for that colorless deck teck Tomer😆
Maybe it was recorded before
you can't make a color shifted colorless deck, colorless does everything.
This is my favorite theme you have ever done so I’m so excited to see it back!!
Clash on!!!
is mill a break from black? i feel w ub mill is an archetype its not a real break
Crim did not break the pie, he just left out a color 😅.
Crim could have stopped the combo. tomer needs two land drops to keep the loop going and his commander if crim kills either tomers commander or the walking atlas then tomer cand keep the loop going without drawing more and more cards using other cards
Id like to believe red wasn't chosen as any color to shift because it only does one thing and that's damage. You can try to do other things but it will be damage.
Maybe mono red stax???? With blood moon and aether flash? Also you can play alot of damage staxs :)
@@okgut2033 Red prison is a legitimate strategy. It's played in Legacy some. Then you can just add any number of red artifact or dualcaster combos as your win con.
Sounds like damage to me😉
Turns decks make me irrationally salty, so I am biased against Tomer, but at least it was a guaranteed combo. Not what I think of when I hear landfall, although it's a shallow pool to pull from.
0:00 Why is this not the thumbnail!?
Release the Adriano Cut!
Tomer, was this just a ruse to play moonfolk again?
42:49 it’s not though in land fall still triggers
Well I do like bizarre mechanics so hopefully this is all this video do be.
Seth, please do a video on unbalanced cycles. =D
I love the idea for this one; very fun and creative
If you want to sink the clash on, use an online clock and say it just as it hits the minute mark
Crim getting at Tomer for asking hoping his mill deck to not be just a ser konrad deck while Crim has the card in hand lol
Tomer played a perfectly normal blue combo deck with a very, very small landfall theme, which isn't even a color pie break, as literally every color gets access to landfall. That was extremely lame and boring to watch. I hope he tries to ACTUALLY break the color pie in the next iteration of this theme.
Tolarian academy vs Shivan gorge is up there for least balanced cycle.
Should of had a mono red reanimater with feldon of the third path
You should just have fans send in them saying "Clash On" and play it.
Tomer is a lovely person and this is the worlds lightest critique. I was a bit disappointed by that deck for color pie break. Its kinda totally on color. Still, much love.
I thought mill was black blue?
They didn't play red at the table because they knew it was too versatile. I should know, I own red life gain, and red enchantments.
Let's be honest. Tomer just wanted to play Moonfolk...
MONO GREEN LIFEGAIN!!!!
Note to self: Make Mono White Draw Go
Winner also cheated at the theme. Wins game with extra turns only.
Breaking color pie doesn't exactly ring true when you bring a commander that does exactly what your color does, and you do nothing outside of it... we all know exactly who I'm talking to.
Tomer, I love that you played Cosima. I've been trying to figure out how to play her for a while, and this gives some inspiration.
Olivia played a fun version using the omenkeel as the real commander in the last episode of commander at home.
cosima is good, but the greatest mono blue landfall deck will always be moonfolk
Oh man Crim is hilarious 😂 " If it makes you feel better, I didn't mill anything"
Great episode this week!!! Seeing the salt master himself Crim being salty about Tomer’s deck was priceless! I was literally crying laughing during Crim’s rant, and he wasn’t wrong either! lmao
is it me or did Crim not quite get the idea of "colour pie break"? :D
how is mono black not a mill colour? just because he built a pretty bad version of a mono B mill deck, does not mean it is a colour break in the slightest. there's literally Syr Konrad in his deck too, which can be a really strong mill commander and is mono B...
at least he shouldn't hate on Tomer winning with mono blue landfall, just because it is a combo win. it's still a landfall strategy.
Mill is the most mono-colored of the mechanics they chose. Non-blue mill is much closer to a color pie break than green creatures or blue doing exactly what blue does. Blue is the worst color for burn at least, but it's a 5 color mechanic, as is landfall. Though, blue is the 2nd best landfall color, and typically crucial to the simic decks which most people think of when they hear landfall.
@@dontmisunderstand6041 arguing that Mono Blue landfall isn't a colour break because Simic is the most prominent landfall colour, but then also claiming that Mono Black mill is a colour break despite Dimir being the most prominent mill colour is quite the nonsense.
and it is factually incorrect too.
checking EDHREC for numbers: there's 15000 Dimir, 2200 Blue & 1300 Black mill decks.. ergo black is clearly represented in Mono Black. Syr Konrad and Sheoldred listed as commanders.
but on the other side, for landfall Mono Blue isn't even listed as common colour and there's no mono blue commander in the list. and on top Simic isn't even the most prominent with 2144 decks - Sultai (2211), Naya (2582) and Gruul (2724) beat Blue-Green in popularity. Four colour (no black) is on top with 5281 decks.
blue in landfall decks is only a support colour. for mono colour, green is the landfall choice. claiming that "blue is crucial for Simic landfall decks" oh really? one of the two colours of a two colour deck is important for that deck??? what a nonsense argument, sorry.
so by all metrics: Mono Black Mill is a much more "in colour" choice than Mono Blue Landfall will ever be.
@@_claymore No, the most prominent mill color combination is mono-blue. The most prominent landfall color combination is simic. At no point did I suggest that black can't mill or any other such nonsense. I pointed out the FACT that non-blue mill is closer to a color break than blue landfall. Even the 5 color combinations you listed place blue as tied for the 2nd best landfall color with red. And that's without bothering to mention the fact that EDHRec is not a reliable source of information on the popularity of decks and color combinations. Almost none of the MtG playerbase have even heard of the site, much less post to it or use it regularly. There are thousands upon thousands of decklists on the site... when it'd need tens of millions in order to be considered a valuable source of information, based on the total playerbase.
You're making a flawed point with bad data that doesn't actually support your stance in the first place.
This was a great game! Great job everyone, but Tomer, that's *not* a landfall deck. XD
"Break the colour pie" becomes Mono Blue infinite Turns. None of them really did any colour breaking but by FAR the least colour breaking was the blue infinite turns.
There's no way anyone call Richard's deck a burn deck. This DOESN'T burn.
Seth flavor fail right out of the gate. Toski is NOT a bird, despite Richard's claims otherwise.
Wait commander clash isn’t 2 hours? 😂
Someone brought a blue combo extra turn deck
@@colecarmichael5724 that's infuriating. they could have durdled for another two hours or so not accomplishing anything
@@efnfen yeah that’s peak content in my eyes

Totally agree. Mono Black mill is thing but it's not that big and kinda worse than many of the other mill types. However Mono Blue infinite turns? It's what Blue does. A lot.

My favorite color pie break. Infinite turn spells.
Tomer! I really love your deckbuilding, but this monoblue landfall deck *cheff kiss* (I am in the middle of the video but I had to comment!)
