    I have a hard time listening to only a very few artists.. Dennis Wilson is one of them.. His songs are so incredibly moving. Solo John Lennon has that effect on me too.
    You rarely hear anything like this anymore. People like to tell me that Bono from U2 has that same type of conviction and drive in his songs.. but to me it rings hollow and somewhat phony. Dennis was the real deal !!

      And was very much NOT a Beach Boy musically. His musically signature doesn't come anywhere near theirs. Denny's songs were deep, soulful and heartfelt.

    Another overlooked, underrated talent who never got the recognition he deserved. Dennis's songs have more heart and soul in them than anything Top 40 radio has produced in years. This is the kind of stuff the music executives don't want us to hear...

  • @geerterri
    @geerterri Před 6 lety +27

    Dennis was so talented. All three Wilson Brothers were. Each of their musical signatures were so different. But each one had their own genius. Dennis's was deeper, emotional and very obvious. They could have each had their own very successful careers.
    I do wish that Dennis has received psych help long before he did. His Dad really screwed him up. But then, his Dad was screwed up, too.

    You are completely right when saying Dennis Wilson was the musical Steve McQueen!! He had an aura that none of the other Beach Boys had. What is amazing is the depth and conviction he brought to his songs. No one can do breathtaking, heartache, pain and soulful yearning like Dennis. You just don't see that in todays music. Nothing close!

    I love this song about his second wife,Barbara, mother of his two oldest sons, Michael and Carl B. Dennis' music showed his softer side. I think it's wonderful that Brian's two brothers found out that THEY could also write great songs. Brian was such an inspiration for them and they found out that the talent was in them, too. Dennis' wife Karen, who was a model, didn't live long. She died at age 49.

    A very touching, tender and loving tribute of devotion expressed from one to another. Be it a wife, a husband, a partner, boyfriend or girlfriend, this song resonates as an honest and uplifting tale of what the sentiment is really about. I even see it as a way a friend can express warmth for another. The bare piano playing and the sparse background feel makes this riveting. Special all the way through. I am glad I discovered this song and it will provide listening comfort for years to come.

    The thing about the Wilson brothers is this: I can't think of any other time in the twentieth century when so much musical talent, creativity and sincerity was assembled within one small group of people. Those of us fortunate enough to grow up and eventually come of age with their music are truly blessed. The simplicity, honesty and sincerity of their best work is as true after 40 years as it will be after 400. Heartbreaking? Yes: Great art always is.

    Dennis, in my opinion, had a fantastic voice. It almost seems that he was lazy about it and held back. His voice was deep and rich while Carl was soft and lofty (sweet) and of course, Brian was out of this world; standing out forceful, domineering, almost thoughtfully engineered. Hats off to the Wilson brothers compared to the Beetles for vocals.

    @ray123ification : I was more into the Kinks, Stones, The Who, Blind Faith, Traffic, The Band, Mott the Hoople etc rather than Black Sabbath. I guess it was their name that turned me off. Not that I was a goody two shoes or anything - I wasn't. You don't want to hear Justin Bieber unless you have the need to regurgitate. Bobby Sherman was the equivalent of JB. A marketed package targeted for little kids who have not acquired a proper taste in music.
