  • In this video I document some of the steps i go through to continue to have my ssr 125 cc pit bike run MINT.
    Here's what i did...
    - Spark Plug - NGK D8EA
    - 10w-40 non synthetic oil
    - Bleeding Brakes
    In the next video i will continue this style of video on my ssr.
    I would normally clean the air filter too and fuel filter however i will be installing new parts on my bike

    Tip when you check your oil don’t screw the dip stick in then pull out just put it in till it touches then remove and check level.
    Also with these bikes it good to check the valve clearance on them soon after you get them as they either wear in very fast or they are just not tightened very well from factory. You will find the bike running rich like it is then it will start cold ok but get harder to start when it hot. Or stall after idling for a min and have poor top end performance.
    Check the valve clearance before you do any idle or air fuel adjustments .076mm for Intake and .1mm for the exhaust work great on these engines good luck

    • @Anthsv8
      @Anthsv8 Před 2 lety

      @@AmillionCo it’s the clearance between the rocker arm and the end of the valve this clearance allows for heat expansion so that the valve closes completely and opens long enough when the engine is hot or cold you must have the piston set to top dead center while on the compression Stroke to do this check or adjustment

    I like it when people take care of their rides, even if they are "cheap pitbikes"
    My pitbike is about sixteen years old and i have welded the frame back together three times. There is no rear brake because the master cylinder got destroyed the last time the frame gave out.
    I've had it for nine years (it was my older brother's bike before) and i've tried to keep it on the road with as low of a budget as i can. So far, if we don't include oil/fuel, i've spent about 130€ on it: Wheel bearings and axle seals for the front and rear, clutch plates, carb rebuild kit, spark plug and a rear tyre.
    I've made a chain tensioner and a heavy-duty skid plate using 4mm steel plate, gotten new plastics, sharper footpegs, pneumatic rear shock, hand guards and a new gas tank with a debris collecting valve from a scrap pile, made a new exhaust from a Civic fart can i found and made a rear mud guard from a tractor front fender.
    She's a total piece of shit for sure and spends more time in the workshop than in the pits but she's got character and she just so happens to be the bike i have. She's not a 450 Honda or Yamaha but she's mine and that's all that matters.

    My Chinese pitbike is a thumpstar.190 Another tip don't ride it like I ride mine and break 3rd gear off 😁. One good thing about having to rebuild my motor is finding out zongshen uses junk valve stem seals. Luckily for me 2018 KTM 250sxf valve seals fit. 😲. While valves apart I ported intake mildly and polished exhaust side and smoothed valve guide mounds. Next wet sanded squish area in valve pocket area to remove any casting dimples to eliminate hot spots and detonation. Cleaned valves and lapped them in being they were never lapped from factory. I also welded a mounting point for an upper chain roller instead of the junk rubber bumber these bikes come with
