There’s also a channel called Style Me Jenn who helps you figure out your own color tones. The easiest description, though, is if you have a warm tone (golden) you often look better with the cooler side of the color wheel such as blues, , greens, purples and blue-toned reds. I don’t look good in large amounts of chartreuse or gold. I can wear it in a skittle. Some people look better with less contrast or need those warm tones to make their skin pop.
This is the basics of what I was taught, although I know others might disagree because color theory is complex! Each color has an overtone and an undertone. Warm overtone colors are those associated with fire: red, orange, yellow. Cool overtone colors are those associated with water: green, blue, purple/violet. Within almost every color, there are versions that have warm undertones and versions that have cool undertones (except orange, which is always warm). Generally, adding blue to a color makes the undertone cooler, while adding yellow makes it warmer. Adding black, white, or grey to a color can also make an undertone cooler. In these polishes, while both Electric Sweetener and Blue Rizzler have cool overtones, they differ in their undertones. The base of Electric Sweetener is warmer in undertone because it leans more toward red, while the base of Blue Rizzler is cooler in undertone because it leans more toward blue. To my eye, the bases of the red, pink, and yellow/orange polishes all have warmer undertones, while the base in Sour Note is pretty close to “neutral” because it’s pretty well-balanced between blue and yellow. The addition of contrasting shimmer can also change the way the base color looks by making it look cooler or warmer, though! Sorry for the novel, but I hope that helps!

I kinda agree. I know Simply mentioned before that she didn’t want to be like the beauty community with releasing too many polishes too quickly but I feel we are kinda at that point. (Only buying the collections that I like 90% of the collection)
I absolutely love Holo Taco. It's the only brand of polish I own. I have nearly every polish Simply has made over the last two years, and quite a few of her OG polishes.
I prefer the original crushed holo formula (barista) because I don't like the added shimmer. It makes the holo less holo, at least in all the swatches I saw. I ordered the whole collection anyway. Maybe we can become friends despite that. I guess my favorite will be Jam Session, followed by Blue Rizzler. These are the darkest, most saturated colors.
I wasn’t into the first few shades of the Crushed Holo released, they were just a biiiiit too subtle. But after Spyglass I’m thrilled that they’re expanding the line with micro shimmers, it adds such a beautiful glow that makes up for the subtle flare from the crushed holo. I’ve been into Shimmers a lot lately, so I’ll take them in pretty much anything 😅
I ordered this collection a few days ago, with the box... My first time purchasing from Holo Taco. Another first for me this week was finally buying a bottle of the Orly Bonder base coat. I've already used the Orly and it's awesome. I can't wait to get the HT!
I liked this collection so much after getting it i ordered a second one. The only other collection I did that with was the ILNP Overcast collection that I also liked a lot. Its fun wearing it with only one of them at a time or as a skittle and sometimes i even will layer different colors on top of each other.

So glad you liked this collection 💚. I feel like I have to be very careful when expressing my opinion but this is the first collection in a really long time that I’ve been genuinely excited for (retro jellies was probably the last) instead of just FOMO purchasing. The crushed holo formula is my favorite because it’s the only formula I feel like I can’t dupe with other indie brands.

i've been obsessed with sunshine crush ever since i laid eyes on it. i feel like it's gonna be the next equivalent of orange drink for me, an underrated gem!! and my second yellow of all time!! 😄
The green Sour Note colour is super close to the colour my bridesmaids wore at my wedding! I went for a non-traditional colour and it looked so good on all of them.

I love holo taco but the last few releases haven't been doing it for me. Same colors around the same range and barely anything different than what all the other indie brands are doing. I haven't been able to justify buying anything from them recently, which I hate because I love holo taco :c
And some of the other indie brands doing similar things are at a lower price point or have regular sales. Nail polish is a luxury purchase for me already so I have a hard time paying more for the same thing.
I just got my order today! I am so pleased with this set! Sugar Rush is so lovely and pearly! I feel so elegant with it on my hands! I also really like how subtle the shimmers are! I really look forward to seeing other more glowy shimmer formulas like Spirit Fingers and Alien Infatuation. 😮💨🤤💖
Love crushed holo, like the shades, but I feel like they're almost all pretty similar to past HT shades colour wise and wish they had a bit more variety personally. I think my main problem with HT is that they have a lot of gaps in colour selections and they don't fill them. I think it's good to have close colours when you have a catalogue of 1,000+ polishes, but HT has like 200. That being said I will definitely be picking up this collection! Will probably skip any future ones with the same colours for the foreseeable future though.

I do Love their crushed holo formula. I was hoping it’d be straight up crushed holo and I’m not sure how I feel about the shimmer yet. I’ll have to see for myself on Saturday when I get my box! I didn’t love the shimmer in spyglass, i don’t hate it either but I feel like it hid that beautiful depth of the crushed holo.

As always, thanks for reviewing these. I’m glad to hear that at least some of these are vibrant. In other videos, they’ve appeared as if they’re dull “off” colors and I’m not into that.
So, I've had a problem with one of my big toe nails for literally over two decades & I've finally gone to see a doctor about it & get it fixed. Which means for the past year-ish, I've only been wear polish on 9 toe nails. 😂 It's finally getting better & hopefully I can start wearing polish on it again. But, I agree shimmer is so much more forgiving. Currently wearing Kbshimmer's Get Off My Tail topped with their Sea-ing Is Believing on my toes.
I feel you. My index finger nail fell off when i crushed it on my garage door. Ive been waiting since January for it to grow back so i can paint it. Its almost grown all the way back! I agree with Kelli, we gotta have all nails for more colors 😂

I'm currently wearing this collection as a skittle mani. They are really beautiful. The application is very smooth. Normally, I'm not a white polish fan, but Sugar Rush is stunning. The crushed holo formula is a favorite of mine. I love your swatch videos and your honest reviews.
Crushed holo formula is probably my FAVORITE formula that Holo Taco has, especially with the jelly bases. To date my FAVORITE full collection was the retro anniversary. I bought SO MANY back-ups lol. And normally Sugar Rush would be a little less interesting for me personally (I LOVE neons and chaotic combinations lol), but Sugar Rush straight up looks like solid pure snow in the middle of the day when the sun is shining on it and it starts to glitter. I'm so surprised how much I love this color.
Love all these colors! If I was going to limit myself to only one finish for the rest of my life it would probably be a foil metallic, I'm wearing a champagne gold right now for the summer and I agree, sparkly finishes are very forgiving.
I wish we had gotten the crushed holo formula without the shimmer, to be honest. We don't have it in very many colors, so it's a little frustrating to be locked into a single shimmer pairing for each color with this set.

I love this collection! the colors are so pretty and I love the shimmers added in. I have these on my nails now! I love polishes with some type of shimmer added or iridescent. It makes it look more interesting.
I LOVE this collection. My only real tiny issue is (based on your hand swatches next to each other) I wish the purple and pink were a little more different as the purple kind of looks like a pinky purple. But still stunning and I'm getting all of them. That green... love

I would choose chunky glitter polish. Sucks breaking a nail 😞 and I keep mine long so the broken one is short for a while 😆 or I also would choose one with multiple finish like flakie w holo.
I'm kind of obsessed with Jam Session and the blue one. And really, that pink, too. I love the look of cremes, but I seem to lack the ability to not make them look uneven/streaky (maybe it's the ridginess of my nails?) and I do find shimmers to be much more forgiving. Plus, I like a little razzle dazzle. 😄
Omg sorry if this is tmi but the toenail thing... i dropped a heavy shelf directly on my big toe at work 10 yrs ago and that nail never grew back the same 😪 dr said it damaged the matrix or something so yep.. flakies & shimmer pedis all summer FOR LIFE. 🤷♀️

been waiting for this!! i've seen comments about the shimmers getting lost in the base colour and people preferring the shades without coloured shimmer, but I'm glad to see you love these! i personally love sour note, blue rizzler and electric sweetener, and I'm so glad they now come with the wide brushes too! if I had to pick one finish, I might choose magnetics just because you can get so many looks within one shade!

I'm not a Holo Taco fanatic, though I do like their polishes and own some others- but this collection totally got me, I bought the whole thing (rarely do I buy an entire collection!). I love the finish and the shades, and this might be a white shimmer I can actually wear (I love them so but they make me have lobster hands imo). Thanks for the review, it solidified that I made the right choice buying the whole shebang, lol.
Im thinking this collection probably looks much more multifaceted in the light, because even though the colors are beautiful the flakes looked more metallic than Holo in the video to me. Thanks for the review!
When I saw some of the polishes, I immediately thought "Kelli is going to like these!" 😁 I know I'm a complete outlier, but I don't like holo polishes that much. Linear holo does absolutely nothing for me. The crushed holo formula though? I love that. This is the first big/rainbow box I ordered. The box is super pretty, too. Sugar Rush could actually become my favorite here. It kinda reminds me of Starrily - Daisy (which I adore) + something extra.

I’d can handle most any finish as long as the polish is dark. 😂 I can do without magnetic and duochrome unless they’re UG-MAZING. I just bought Mooncat Apparition (magnetic) and can’t get enough of it.

I could be happy with a flakie or a crushed holo finish, I think. I like shimmers but sometimes need more nail protection. Glad we don’t have to choose. Bluebird lacquer has stunning holos she calls shattered. Also, I love Potion Polishes crushed holos. You have some of those, right?

I love Holo Taco but I'm not a fan of crushed holo, but I like the finish more than cremes. This is first collection from Cristine I'm on the fence about. While the blue is pretty, for some reason I can't stand the name of the color. I like the color story of this collection. If I could only wear one finish, it's hard to decide between linear holo and multichrome, but multichrome might have the edge. My favorite nail polish of all time is a multichrome, Starrily's Death Wish. Turn your hand and you never know which color your nails will be next.
The only polish from this collection that I have on my wishlist is Jam Session. The others - I either have a similar polish from Cirque’s Shimmergraphic line or I’m not interested in the shade.
It's funny, I dropped something on my toe last summer which left a bruise. I've had to use polishes that were opaque enough for it to not show which were creams. It finally grew up completely this month. I would have to say I would choose shimmers to wear if I could where only one kind of polish. I tend to reach for them the most.
Haha honestly it's a bit of a struggle because I did gouge out a bit of my nail so I need something that'll hide the ridge AND something opaque enough to cover the bruise 😂 toenails grow so slowly tho, what a frustrating situation lol!
I love this collection I love candy rocks but can no longer have them due to teeth issues well sensitivity now but either way I love these shades and the duo chrome effect is neat I love these collections too with the lunar holographic effect rather than the chunky holographic glitter way more 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊💿💿💿💿💿and if I had to choose one nail polish in my whole it would definitely have to be holographic nail polish cause I love holographic nail polish so much I never knew I could love something so much u walk in my room you’ll see holographic everything lol 😂
This is a nice collection, nothing special and I’m not getting it but it’s cute. I’m a huge color fan so I’d go with creme. It’s my preferred finish but I also love shimmers, glitter and holo. Something about a straight creme if the color is gorgeous enough and it usually is from my collection I don’t need or want anything else on or in it and I’m staring at it all day. Cobalt blue, neon yellow, hot pink I could go on I just love pure colors lol

I feel like I have to be very careful when expressing my opinion but this is the first collection in a really long time that I’ve been genuinely excited for (retro jellies was probably the last) instead of just FOMO purchasing. The crushed holo formula is my favorite because it’s the only formula I feel like I can’t dupe with other indie brands.

i've been obsessed with sunshine crush ever since i laid eyes on it. i feel like it's gonna be the next equivalent of orange drink for me, an underrated gem!! and my second yellow of all time!! 😄
The green Sour Note colour is super close to the colour my bridesmaids wore at my wedding! I went for a non-traditional colour and it looked so good on all of them.

@@KelliMarissa It was! It was a Summer wedding and I live in Queensland, Australia which has a sub-tropical climate (similar to Florida); so the bright colours looked awesome.

I love holo taco but the last few releases haven't been doing it for me. Same colors around the same range and barely anything different than what all the other indie brands are doing. I haven't been able to justify buying anything from them recently, which I hate because I love holo taco :c

This is first box I’ve ordered in 3 launches. Very unlike me.
And some of the other indie brands doing similar things are at a lower price point or have regular sales. Nail polish is a luxury purchase for me already so I have a hard time paying more for the same thing.
it all does feel really same-y. On my hands and knees begging them to make a green thats not straight up teal but not yellow toned either

I just got my order today! I am so pleased with this set! Sugar Rush is so lovely and pearly! I feel so elegant with it on my hands! I also really like how subtle the shimmers are! I really look forward to seeing other more glowy shimmer formulas like Spirit Fingers and Alien Infatuation. 😮💨🤤💖
Love crushed holo, like the shades, but I feel like they're almost all pretty similar to past HT shades colour wise and wish they had a bit more variety personally. I think my main problem with HT is that they have a lot of gaps in colour selections and they don't fill them. I think it's good to have close colours when you have a catalogue of 1,000+ polishes, but HT has like 200. That being said I will definitely be picking up this collection! Will probably skip any future ones with the same colours for the foreseeable future though.
Totally understandable! They tend to stick to similar color palettes, I've noticed 😅
I love the crushed holo formula and love that this isn’t a true rainbow! Love the golden yellow 💛🧡💛 LOVE the white. So glad I got the whole set. Thank you for swatches as always!

@@KelliMarissa I think it’s just because we get this special feeling white and pink with it! It’s close enough to a rainbow to get those vibes but a traditional rainbow wouldn’t have white or pink and these two are beautiful!
I’m so hyped for this collection, this is my favorite formula from HT. And the different color shimmers is just another layer of fun! The green is WOW. Can’t wait for my box to get here tomorrow so I can swatch them all. 😆

I think this is my favorite collection they have ever put out. I love a duochrome shimmer, and they also are holo ??? Incredible. Unfortunately, I don’t have money right now, so I’m gonna have to wait on picking this up. But I’m excited it’s not limited edition. 🥰

I was considering the purple until you said three coats on longer nails. The formula and colors look beautiful. Thanks for the s & r. I would definitely choose a shimmer if it was all I could wear. And, for the exact reasons you stated. Plus, I wouldn’t get bored as quickly with shimmering nails!❤
I also love the crushed holo...it's different. That's a hard decision but shimmers is definitely a good one.
I do Love their crushed holo formula. I was hoping it’d be straight up crushed holo and I’m not sure how I feel about the shimmer yet. I’ll have to see for myself on Saturday when I get my box! I didn’t love the shimmer in spyglass, i don’t hate it either but I feel like it hid that beautiful depth of the crushed holo.
Your nail polishes are amazing! I especially love your Holo Taco Rainbow Collection. I'd love nothing more than to get that collection. I 've seen your tutorial on how you used this collection. Absolutely obsessed. Can't get enough of it!😉😍
As always, thanks for reviewing these. I’m glad to hear that at least some of these are vibrant. In other videos, they’ve appeared as if they’re dull “off” colors and I’m not into that.
So, I've had a problem with one of my big toe nails for literally over two decades & I've finally gone to see a doctor about it & get it fixed. Which means for the past year-ish, I've only been wear polish on 9 toe nails. 😂 It's finally getting better & hopefully I can start wearing polish on it again. But, I agree shimmer is so much more forgiving. Currently wearing Kbshimmer's Get Off My Tail topped with their Sea-ing Is Believing on my toes.

I feel you. My index finger nail fell off when i crushed it on my garage door. Ive been waiting since January for it to grow back so i can paint it. Its almost grown all the way back! I agree with Kelli, we gotta have all nails for more colors 😂

Crushed holo formula is probably my FAVORITE formula that Holo Taco has, especially with the jelly bases. To date my FAVORITE full collection was the retro anniversary. I bought SO MANY back-ups lol. And normally Sugar Rush would be a little less interesting for me personally (I LOVE neons and chaotic combinations lol), but Sugar Rush straight up looks like solid pure snow in the middle of the day when the sun is shining on it and it starts to glitter. I'm so surprised how much I love this color.
I do think Sugar Rush is their best white yet, it's very pretty and delicate!
Love all these colors! If I was going to limit myself to only one finish for the rest of my life it would probably be a foil metallic, I'm wearing a champagne gold right now for the summer and I agree, sparkly finishes are very forgiving.
I'm always waiting for you to angle your nail more so I can see the full shift of the shimmers and holo but I'm always left hanging. lol

I wish we had gotten the crushed holo formula without the shimmer, to be honest. We don't have it in very many colors, so it's a little frustrating to be locked into a single shimmer pairing for each color with this set.

I love this collection! the colors are so pretty and I love the shimmers added in. I have these on my nails now! I love polishes with some type of shimmer added or iridescent. It makes it look more interesting.
This is going to be my first Holo Taco order. I was never very impressed with their releases in the past, but the green has won me over.
I LOVE this collection. My only real tiny issue is (based on your hand swatches next to each other) I wish the purple and pink were a little more different as the purple kind of looks like a pinky purple. But still stunning and I'm getting all of them. That green... love

I would choose chunky glitter polish. Sucks breaking a nail 😞 and I keep mine long so the broken one is short for a while 😆 or I also would choose one with multiple finish like flakie w holo.

I love the look of cremes, but I seem to lack the ability to not make them look uneven/streaky (maybe it's the ridginess of my nails?) and I do find shimmers to be much more forgiving. Plus, I like a little razzle dazzle. 😄

Omg sorry if this is tmi but the toenail thing... i dropped a heavy shelf directly on my big toe at work 10 yrs ago and that nail never grew back the same 😪 dr said it damaged the matrix or something so yep.. flakies & shimmer pedis all summer FOR LIFE. 🤷♀️

i personally love sour note, blue rizzler and electric sweetener, and I'm so glad they now come with the wide brushes too!
if I had to pick one finish, I might choose magnetics just because you can get so many looks within one shade!

I think I would also pick shimmer. They are every bit as classic as a cream and there are several kinds ( iridescent, pearl, metallic, ect.).
I'm not a Holo Taco fanatic, though I do like their polishes and own some others- but this collection totally got me, I bought the whole thing (rarely do I buy an entire collection!). I love the finish and the shades, and this might be a white shimmer I can actually wear (I love them so but they make me have lobster hands imo). Thanks for the review, it solidified that I made the right choice buying the whole shebang, lol.

Im thinking this collection probably looks much more multifaceted in the light, because even though the colors are beautiful the flakes looked more metallic than Holo in the video to me. Thanks for the review!
I would say the holo is on the subtle side, most of the time it looks like silver chips!! But I think it's still very pretty 😅
i don’t know how your nails never stain!!! i use the orly bonder base coat too and im rocking a natural candy corn vibe 😂

I know I'm a complete outlier, but I don't like holo polishes that much. Linear holo does absolutely nothing for me. The crushed holo formula though? I love that. This is the first big/rainbow box I ordered. The box is super pretty, too.
Sugar Rush could actually become my favorite here. It kinda reminds me of Starrily - Daisy (which I adore) + something extra.

I’d can handle most any finish as long as the polish is dark. 😂 I can do without magnetic and duochrome unless they’re UG-MAZING. I just bought Mooncat Apparition (magnetic) and can’t get enough of it.

I could be happy with a flakie or a crushed holo finish, I think. I like shimmers but sometimes need more nail protection. Glad we don’t have to choose. Bluebird lacquer has stunning holos she calls shattered. Also, I love Potion Polishes crushed holos. You have some of those, right?

I love the crushed holo formula, but I will pass on this collection, the colors aren't that exiting and I made an order not so long ago... HT should wait a little more between releases, for some time I've felt like there was a new collection out every month, it's a lil much for everybody who's not rich 😅

I love Holo Taco but I'm not a fan of crushed holo, but I like the finish more than cremes. This is first collection from Cristine I'm on the fence about. While the blue is pretty, for some reason I can't stand the name of the color. I like the color story of this collection.
If I could only wear one finish, it's hard to decide between linear holo and multichrome, but multichrome might have the edge. My favorite nail polish of all time is a multichrome, Starrily's Death Wish. Turn your hand and you never know which color your nails will be next.
The only polish from this collection that I have on my wishlist is Jam Session. The others - I either have a similar polish from Cirque’s Shimmergraphic line or I’m not interested in the shade.

It's funny, I dropped something on my toe last summer which left a bruise. I've had to use polishes that were opaque enough for it to not show which were creams. It finally grew up completely this month. I would have to say I would choose shimmers to wear if I could where only one kind of polish. I tend to reach for them the most.
Haha honestly it's a bit of a struggle because I did gouge out a bit of my nail so I need something that'll hide the ridge AND something opaque enough to cover the bruise 😂 toenails grow so slowly tho, what a frustrating situation lol!

I love this collection I love candy rocks but can no longer have them due to teeth issues well sensitivity now but either way I love these shades and the duo chrome effect is neat I love these collections too with the lunar holographic effect rather than the chunky holographic glitter way more 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊💿💿💿💿💿and if I had to choose one nail polish in my whole it would definitely have to be holographic nail polish cause I love holographic nail polish so much I never knew I could love something so much u walk in my room you’ll see holographic everything lol 😂

This is a nice collection, nothing special and I’m not getting it but it’s cute. I’m a huge color fan so I’d go with creme. It’s my preferred finish but I also love shimmers, glitter and holo. Something about a straight creme if the color is gorgeous enough and it usually is from my collection I don’t need or want anything else on or in it and I’m staring at it all day. Cobalt blue, neon yellow, hot pink I could go on I just love pure colors lol
