Haha yes! I definitely have strong feelings about all of them 😂
With almost all of them, I involuntarily said "ok, ew" or "WHAT why?!," the latter because it was just pretty! 😅
For the folks who WANT to like a jelly or crelly polish, but don't like the transparency of it, try 1-2 layers of a similar-colored opaque polish underneath. It doesn't generally need to be exact, "kind of close" will probably be fine once it's done and dried. It'll blend in with the jelly color and make it look like one solid thing. So think: clear base coat -> base color -> jelly/crelly -> clear topcoat (if desired).
I've had what I think is my best success (your tastes may differ of course) if I go one step smaller on the sparkle size for my undercoat:
- Cremes under crellies, shimmers, matte chunky glitters, or full jellies with no glitter/sparkly bits
- Shimmers under glitters, iridescents, or flakies
- Glitters under big chunky metallic glitters
And this method often works for adding extra dimension to sheer and glittery toppers, too. Makes it look like one coherent fancy polish with interesting depths to it, instead of visible distinct layers.
I love sheer toppers and jellies, especially jellies with shimmer or glitter in them, and I often layer them this way with an opaque color underneath.
Sometimes similar, sometimes a notably different one for fun! Like for halloween I love using a light grey solid under a pink sheer/jelly with green shimmer, and stamping the line-art of a brain over it.

Olive to Roar, on the other hand, I was not surprised at all 😂 for me that one is solidly in the ugly category, but I still want to own it!

It's interesting how texture absolutely transforms a color, and that the reception is really love-hate! A super boring color can become really cool and unique and a pleasant shade can turn very alarming, and what qualifies as any of those aspects is utterly tied to an individual's tastes.
Totally true! And it really is something I never would have expected from polish back when I first started painting haha, it's such an interesting idea. I remember when the OPI Liquid Sand formula came out, I was just blown away!

I am extremely surprised to see China Glaze “preserved in amber” on this list! It is so beautiful I can’t imagine how it could be controversial!
Maze Craze reminds me of those open crates full of random tumbled semi-precious gemstones you get in gift shops. Idk but there's something about it that really hits a nostalgia note for me!

Sinful Colors "Bite" makes me think of uranium glass, in a good way! It's beautiful.
I really like a lot of these! Haha. The “Olive to roar” polish is a stunningly funky color…but yeah the random texture for me would cause me to only use it for accent nails. I wish it was named “alligator hide” or something to represent the bumps!
Frog nail art idea for "olive to roar" make the green the base, then apply a pink stripe (maybe a French tip) horizontally across four nails then on the fifth one make the line curl around a small black fly
I love them all! "Olive to roar" is the only one i consider a true ugly polish. Beesknees Lacquer "tooty stinkfoot" is my go to prugly polish, bonus points for the hilarious name: it's a green yellow-gold very textured reflective glitter polish and i love it!

As a Sinful Colors Stan their sugar collection was one of my favorites! Its one of the only collections where I own all of the colors and actually wear all of the colors

I loved this video and how you give the out of the box colors a shout out! This is why I turned to indie polishes in 2018 because I was SO bored with mainstreams at the time (started collecting in 2009) I love that some mainstreams still try to do something fun and different

I LOVE this entire collection.. LOL. I own a lot of them and immediately searched, found and bought Sinful Colors Bite as soon as you showed it. I'm looking for PP Pick of the Patch right now... 🤣🤪😜 CG Preserved in Amber is AMAZING! It's so beautiful. One of my besties, who is a classic look nail polish gal, even commented on it and asked to use it for her New Years mani. That entire collection was brilliant.
Like your explanation for why you dig jellies. They have grown on me for ease of application and the fresh look. I also have a new appreciation for the Orly Futurism collection which fits spring surprisingly well!! Throwing them back in the rotation again
Yessss! Groove thing is crazy beautiful, it's a polish that you just have to see irl! My favourite mani to date that I keep going back to is two accents with groove thing and all the other ones pyro, it's GORGEOUS 😍. I love ugly polishes, they're so pretty 😂🥰
ILNP's Olive Grove reminds me SO much of my all time favourite ugly pretty polish, China Glaze Zombie Zest! These olive greens are my absolute favourites 💚
these colours are lovely, I like weird polishes too, I would love some of these available as gel I don't wear polish much these days but would add these to my nail polish collection. Most looked cool for Autumn that you showed and if peeps don't like texture polish just use topcoat or add nail art to them and use as a funky/cute background. Lovin your vids as always x

I had watched your last Ugly Polish video, so I was looking forward to this one. I agree about the greenish/yellows and how they look on paler skin. I wear my yellows in the summer with tanned skin and it is still a little weird to me lol. My faves here are Maze Craze, Olive Grove, Wait for Me and Sweet Cherry Drop.
My favorite is Road Lacquer Maze Craze. I really enjoyed this video! It was so much fun! I love unique and different and that's exactly what you have me!! As always, thank you for introducing me to new lines of polish and teaching so much!! 💟💟
I have Bite by Sinful Colors, and I love wearing it over a black base. I do find it a little sheer on its own, but it makes a really pretty topper

My favourite ugly/pretty is Enjoy the Fall by Emily de Molly - which is a brand you should absolutely try for your small brand Sunday. They're Aussie but have a US stockist.
I use 'vibe' a lot too, like "this polish is a vibe" or "I can't get lunch with you, I've just come off nightshift. It's not a vibe."
I love ugly polishes because they’re unique ❤ especially the greens. Green is my favorite color. I really did like bite by sinful colors but it was really hard to take off lol.
If you put cirque colors Lumiere over Elysian Fields it's a decent scattered holo match to holo taco Amber Apathy. Those 3 look so good together. 🙏✨️
I love Groove Thing and bought it after you swatched that collection. I put Groove Thing on top of other greens, multi-color greens like Artemis by Starrily gold/oranges, and black, and I get such different results. I thought Wait For Me reminded me of a naturally occuring white quartz with metallic flakes in it that makes it rather interesting, and totally fine for a wedding.

My fave on the list is Cirque Colors “Groove Thing”!! I wore that on so many looks over the Fall! People think I’m nuts because I love it so much but that just makes me love it more!! 😍

This green eyeshadow is GORGEOUS on you and it makes your eyes look a little bigger. 😍 I love it. Also, I feel like it vibes with the pretty ugly thing, a green not everyone would like, but I think it's sooo pretty, and it really suits you. And I love even more now seeing how many greens made it to the video. 😂
I don't love all of these polishes, I'm not going to lie, but there are a good number that I do really like, like Preserved in Amber, Eunice, Maze Craze, Wait for Me, Olive Grove.....yeah. I'll stop there. lol
I think some of these are sooooo beautiful! Some of them don’t excite me, but I don’t find any of them ugly. I love the creativity behind all of the polishes… so refreshing.

I loved the colors and texture of the collection but they chipped so fast on me! Within hours my mani had to be touched up :(
Oh man-I totally ADORE most of the greens: Elysian Fields, Eunice, Groove Thing, Olive to Roar, Urban Landscape--either have those, or they're on my To Buy list. Turnt-quoise is one of the few sheers I really liked.

I don’t have any of these colors, so my favorite ugly-pretty polish is Beatnik from Cirque. I’ve loved weird polishes since my first Urban Decay polish way back in the ‘90s. It was a grungy green color and I remember my mom hating it. After that polish, I was always on the hunt for the odd colors, I could usually find them at Maurice’s way back when, and Bath and Body Works had nail polish with some weird colors. I usually gravitated to the out there green polishes, they were and still are my favorites.
This is my fav kind of nail polish videos, and especially your videos. I also love weird polishes (probably bc of u lol) but yeah, do more updates of your favs.

I absolutely love indie polishes. Most of my collection leans that way. I think we expect the heavy flakies in the indie brands and the weird. You should try more! I suggest Wildflower of Night Owl Lacquer. My favorite ugly pretty is still Beatnik from Cirque Colors.

Femme Fatale Cosmetics is the BEST at “ugly pretty” colours. They are my top pick for finding really unusual combos. Sophie has such a beautiful and unique way of combining colours and textures that I am really into! RN I’m wearing a dusty/dirty green that reminds me of dead grass, with gold reflective glitter and an intense purple shimmer called Sector 7-G. It might actually be my new favourite polish. It’s incredible! I’m obsessed with the colours most people consider unpretty, odd, unusual, or weird.

A very fun video! I looked up synonyms for vibes and found some that might work for you though I don't think any quite hit the mark as well as vibes: feeling, impression, mood, sense, ambience, aura, and atmosphere. These videos are so helpful to me. I've tried Orly, Cirque, and Holo Taco polishes since first hearing about those brands from you.
Animalistic is the reason I tried my first I Scream Nails polish! I loved it 😍 and the Orly Metamorphosis polish.

Well, Kelli, you and I share rarified air! I love the ugly-pretty colors you showcased today…even Elysian Fields, which I must confess I loathed at first but it has actually grown on me. I got that Orly Surrealist Collection and loved all of those polishes and finally even Elysian Fields! It was good to be reminded of all these great polishes. You are not alone! There are a lot of us who adore those ugly-pretty colors and give them a lot of love! I think the word VIBE is almost the only word to adequately describe many of the polishes/collections you show us! I don’t think you overuse the word at all. It perfectly describes so many polishes I have seen on your vids! ♥️

Yay! I love "ugly" colors! Usually those mucky greens! I'd love to see a comparison video or short for Chemistry by Cirque Colors, Amulet by Starrily and Love at Frost Sight from KBShimmer. They all seem like they're essentially the same but I'm not sure.
Loved all these 😂 I have found myself loving the orange, brown, and greens more and more as time goes on! And they’re so fun! The Cadillacquer is very on my list though I can agree that one is just beautiful 😂 but I think the Painted Polish and Orly are definitely coming too.
My ugly pretty is Sinful Colors Chamomile Calm (from Essenchills, it was Target exclusive!) and I would say it is similar to Orly Elysian Fields but more yellow/brown. This vid has me very in the mood for it. Or Olive Grove lol.
I love that red and I'm sad I missed that collection. I have good luck finding the sinful color polishes at the grocery store Meijer, which I believe is a Midwest chain.

I have ILNP Olive Grove and I absolutely LOVE it! But I'm with you; I don't think any nail polish is ugly and I also really liked all of the polishes in this video.
