No.... this is *not* just a simple pop song! The fact you mentioned having been on meds which gave you your own chalky-SSRI-tablets-outline experience, then Chinchilla immediately comes in with the line "Sertraline, and a sip of serotonin..." o_O I don't see how this could be more personal for you brother. I wish more folk were aware of the Moncrieff 2022 publication in Nature™ which debunked serotonin levels being the cause of depression.... why are tens of millions of folk on expensive serotonin-related drugs then? Certainly makes me think.
Anyhoo, back to the art. These two are great together. I thoroughly recommend checking out the live capture Chinchilla did of her single "Fingers". If you're not impressed, I'll give you your money back myself! Just be kind regarding the outfit.... she's into the theatrical outfits, to the point where she doesn't just choose these hats, she *makes* them. She's such a lovely quiet unassuming girl in real life, but when she chooses a hat for a performance & puts on those nails o_O woe betide anyone who's mistreated her!! Arguably even moreso in the new single "Little Girl Gone" she just dropped- there's only a lyrics vid for it at the mo, so hang on a few days til she drops the OMV for that one & react to a masterful (self-produced btw- she's a #Problem) 3min pop song which is destined to be an anthem for wronged women everywhere, & therefore *HUGE* ;)

Yeeesss. Fingers live by chinchilla is amazing. Another amazing duet between the two is the live version of How to be Me. The live is a MUST, it hits so much harder than the lyric video.

I also love how supportive Ren and his team is of CZcams content creators! Especially for an independent artist, I see these reaction videos similar to the old school street teams that I used to be part of trying to promote artists that didn’t have massive marketing budgets.
In our current age of streaming, this is such a great way to discover and dig deeper into artists that deserve much more exposure. And it’s a win-win for both the artist and channels like these that are becoming communities in support of artists and music we love.

Just stunning, one of the best duet ever!! Fingers Live by Chinchilla is a brilliant track!
I knew you would love this one 😼 I think they just used 2 small lapel mics. And the choice of the rosewood guitar added warmth to such a cold environment and just the right amount of reverb.
The lyric “I’m scared of being ok ‘cause all things change” makes me think of the pendulum imagery in Hi Ren “the brighter the light shone, the darker the shadow it cast.” It can make you almost afraid of the good days if you don’t know how long they will last or how bad the next storm will be. And the gallows line gets me as well. I think it’s also representing how desperately he wants to live.
It’s such a gift that he’s been able to channel his horrific experiences into music this beautiful that goes straight to the heart. And his collaborations with Chinchilla, his musical sibling, are stunning. They have a great blend and both sing from deep within their soul. Their other live performance recording worth checking out is “How To Be Me” that Ren wrote about his best friend that killed himself 😿 They performed it on the bridge where it happened. The harmonies are haunting.
Yes, I would check out more Chinchilla. She has a new song “Little Girl Gone” that is blowing up, but you will also want to check out her live video for “Fingers.”

My son is bi-polar, he was once on a medication when he was a teenager that gave terrible effects and with help with two of his friends at home with us that day, got him to the hospital. So yeah medications have to be monitored and watched for side effects. The effects may not appear right away, which can make it difficult to find the right one. He is in his 40's now and as far as I know he is not on any medication at all. He will have a random episode of depression but not as frequently anymore.

I went on zoloft after i got sober after 24 yrs of being a junkie. The walking dead is a great analogy. I even thot about relapsing for a bit just to feel something. Of course it would be guilt, shame, all the bad shit but at least id feel human again. Luckily i didnt. I switched over to weed and got off them and am doing great. I was walking dead for 3+ yrs before i quit

I'll never understand that way of listening for the first time to a song (especially if it's something I enjoy hearing). Pausing every ten seconds. That's weird. It would damage the experience if I did that. I've always thought that in a song, music comes first, and lyrics come second, which is why people listen to music in foreign language they know shit about, there's still the feeling. So... first, enjoy the sound. Then, listen it again, this time to fully enjoy the quality of the lyrics.
Do you always do that, or is it just because it's a reaction video? Because "reactors" don't have to do that.
