- My 22 year old Honda developed a major oil leak on right crankcase cover. I take you through the steps I used to replace the gasket from start to finish. It's an easy job overall, but there are a few things you need to be aware of along the way.
Going through this right now with a bear tracker I bought for my boy... Brought it home and it puked eoil everywhere. Tried calling the guy I bought it from and, crazy, but an hour later, he must not have paid his phone bill because it was instantly disconnected. Geez, poor guy 🙄🙄🙄. Anyway, good move with the ultra grey, I'm in the process of just using gaskets only (yes I have an inner and outer seal-two covers) so hopefully it won't leak too 🤞. Nice video, good job with the "slow n' steady." That mentality is what wins the game!
These are the best utility ATV ever made in my humble opinion. I have a 99 that has the same leak, but clockwise on the seal about an hour from your leak. Thanks for the great video.
Yes.. they are the best ever built. Good luck on your repair. Mine hasn't leaked since the repair. It's been about two years now and I ride her hard every hunting season.
I have a 4x4 same color it's in great shape an never been worked on, had a brand new 2 wheel drive back in 1999...
Perfect video definitely will be doing this when i change out my gasket as well thanks for the detailed video!
Awesome, glad I can help! Thanks for subscribing.
@@Ozarkwild your welcome , would love to see more videos on the bike!
Excellent video. Helped me out with mine. Didn't know about keeping the kickstart and reverse shafts in place.
Glad I could help you out! Thanks for watching.
Excellent details. Ordering my gasket now. Thank you
Nice job replacing that gasket, smart to add a thin layer of gasket sealer especially with a known leak area where Honda added another bolt (design flaw which they fixed). I have a 1986 Honda TRX200SX ATV (Made in Japan) that runs like new at 34 years old. Trying to stock up on parts before they are impossible to find due to age. It's odd that Honda made it extremely difficult to clean or replace that oil filter screen. You just can't beat a Honda engine (made in Japan). I wish the USA would put out the same engine quality and design.
Thanks for the reply. I agree, the Japan Honda engines are great (over built!)
Good detailed video pal!
Thank you. Hope I was able to help you out!
When I rebuild crank shafts I never use silicone , Just do what you did, I like to use water sand paper in the end
Nice vid,my bike is a 1996,bought it new, just cleaned the carb for the first time last week, ive developed a oil leak this week but it looks like it's coming from the reverse seal on the bottom cover, guess my question is how would I pull that seal while the shaft is still in place. Thanks
Wish I watched this BEFORE I pulled my side case off 😢😢
You get it all back together yet?
@@Ozarkwild Yea, it went together okay. Luckily the washer at the back of the kickstart shaft came out with the shaft.
I bought a Honda gasket for my 98 300ex. Does the gasket stick to the case, or do you need to use some gasket maker?
Those original green gaskets are really stuck on their good 😂. Does it matter if there are small spots left of the old gasket? I got it mostly off, except I will run across a little spec here or there.
Do you have the instructions to reinstall the kickstart gear? TIA
It has to be re-clocked, not hard to do. Here is a video I found here on CZcams (not my video) czcams.com/video/5lZXOHDNmVM/video.html
Hey I saw your comment on an acorn investment video, I would be greatly interested in watching if you did a video on investing, how to start, and what you should know.
