One good thing to keep in mind removing the clutch cover is try to keep the kickstart in the engine when removing the cover. There's a washer on the back of the kickstarter and will drop into the engine. In this case it doesn't matter because you are splitting the cases but if doing it with the engine on the atv be careful not to loose that washer in the engine

A word from the wise, it pays to invest into a case splitter tool if you are considering doing this often. Also, flat blade screw drivers, chisels and hammers belong in a wood shop not a cycle shop. There is a little trick I came up with just for stubborn clutch and stator covers. I use an air chisel with a special polyurethane bumper on the end, it vibrates them right lose. A little heat is also good on stubborn bolt threads. None the less, beautiful illustration on how to disassemble a 4 poke and give good sound advice on how these things work 👍 in fact, one of the better tutorials I have personally seen on CZcams.

@@MidNebraskaMotorsports So my 1998 Honda Trx300fw doesn't wanna shift. It will move the lever and the shift drum will react but the "click" doesn't happen and it. So basically it acts as it it shift but it doesn't.

A buddy and I were trying to assess the stator on my 90' Honda 300 fourtrax. Well the shift shaft must have disconnected from that clutch piece that attaches to the shift shaft that you were showing in the begging of video?? It is going through the gears but clutch is not engaging so the atv won't move? So removing that shift shaft can cause a disconnect on the other side of engine on the kick start side?

My 300 is free rolling down hills sometimes. If your in 1st gear it does good but sometimes acts like it's in neutral for a sec if you give it a Little gas it starts holding back and doing good like it should. What could this be. It kinda acts like a automatic side by side.
