- I will take apart and clean the Briggs and Stratton carburetor on a Swisher walk behind trimmer. This has been sitting around for years and the varnish build-up from the old gas is one of the worst I have seen. But all is not lost...

You gave me knowledge that DR Trimmer doesn't seem to illustrate in their manuals. Thank you !!!
Thank you for this helpful video. You explained everything in detail. Thanks again
This was remarkably helpful. Thank you so much!
I've got this same mower and am about to give this a shot. Can I ask what you used to clean it all?
great job, my neighbor Bob uses twist tie wire, I have the same one, don't forget to check them front bearings, I ordered 2
I might try that also
May’ve been an overnighter, but still saves ya $$ from having the mower shops do the same thing. They’d just want to replace the carb. Awesome vid 👍🏻👍🏻
Nice job. One thing though, when you start it up, wacker should not be turning till you pull cable. I just bought one, cleaned it and mine runs on the start too. Can't figure it out. Really can't complain. Great older machine.
THX for the vid. I have a Pro-self-propel that is shutting down after after about 30 min. of use. After it cool I can repeat the process, but again shuts down. I'm going to chase the carb issue. Thx again.
Very helpful.
Thanks for sharing.
Very Much appreciated.
👍👍
Question: I have a used Husqvarna Trimmer/Mower with basically this same engine I bought used. I have a problem with the throttle staying almost wide open making it very hard to start. I believe it is missing a governor return spring. I ordered the spring, but can not figure out where it goes.
In your video (around 4:06 minutes into it) as you are removing the carburetor, I am thinking I see something other than the linkage connecting to the carburetor.
Are you aware of where the governor return spring might connect?
Good video. I would have liked to know what spray you were using to degunk. When soaking do you just use gasoline?
Does the 1 cup of Pine Sol to one gallon of water work well as a safe carb cleaner? I know that is takes a long time.
Put the parts in a bowl of WHAT ? ? Couldn't see the varnish very well also.
Looks as someone used E85 corn gas, thats where all the gunk is from. Use marine, ethanol free gas to avoid gunk
Do you know the top grill plate cover that sits on top of the carb and air filter? I bought a second hand walk behind trimmer and it has many parts missing. The carb, air filter assembly and all. I have ordered just about all parts but can't find the part number or the name of the top grill plate cover on the net. Thanks for your help
I just picked one upfor$5. Needs a belt, Covers are song, and says they could not get to run or if it does it dies. So guessing if it is like my mower, gotta clean out the carb. Guessing the line is .155 and the belt size is 59"?
Well done sir!
I guess I'm pretty randomly asking but does anybody know a good website to watch new tv shows online?
@Sean Sterling i would suggest flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
@Duke Fox yup, been using FlixZone for since march myself =)
@Duke Fox Thank you, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) I really appreciate it !
@Sean Sterling No problem :)
What did you soak it in with? Like what product. ?
I have used a few different solutions. It might have been WD-40 brand of ultrasonic solution.
Can I clean the pre-filter with soap and water? It is dirty.
chemo38 As long as the foam is in good shape, clean it and let it dry.
What size are the bolts so I know what socket to use?
Cup Holder I believe they are 8mm for the filter housing, 3/8 for the carburetor, and 1/2 for the float bowl.
got a swisher string trimmer i pulled out of trash r\]got it run but run slow
thanks
I hope it helps
You forgot the gasket on the bowl jet bolt.
HE WANTED TO PLAY BALL BUT IT LOOKED LIKE A ROCK.
Huh? Lol
It sure seems as thought these carbs just aren’t built well but they keep making them this way?? What’s the deal.
