    It's nice that basic HD maintenance transfers across so many years and models. For a quick and easy way to start a riot just go to any HD forum and ask what to use in your bikes primary.😅 Thanks Del and Penny for the very useful basic maintenance videos you post. Hi Del! I just came onto this video because my new 2012 Dyna has just totally stumped me - It's not got an inspection hole for the chain tensioner, and the service schedule just says to change primary fluid and adjust the clutch. Is it no longer necessary to routinely check the tensioner? I'd rather be safe than sorry!
    Hope you and Pen are doing well, soon be good riding weather! See you out there, Mike.

    I have a metal cotton type air filter very similar to the one in the video. I bought some air filter oil but on putting my glasses on it says that it’s for foam air filters. I can’t find any info on the net ref differences in oils for foam and mesh type filters. This Liquid Moly foam filter oil surgests bathing the foam in the oil. Can I just run some over the top of the pleated as you did on the video? Or is it fundamentally a different oil?

    • @Moonfleet41

      Hi Harold, altering the clutch pack freeplay does nothing for the bite point mate, that's pretty much fixed, as the clutch plates wear thinner it will change, but one thing you can do that will make a big difference is fit slim grips as the factory does... fat custom grips move the grip out to meet the lever so with thinner grips, you pull it in further, meaning the bite point is further away from the grip... you can buy them from Hogparts, just basic rubber slim grips, I'll be doing a fitting video shortly on this bike, plus there's already a fitting video on a Sportster in the playlist... hope that helps you Harold, have a great weekend!

    Thanks for sharing Del. Curious question, why not use Hylomar Blue on that drain plug? I think I've seen you do that in years past, but not so much recently. I mean sure it's not a gasket, but it'll work on threads too. What do you think?

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  Před rokem +1

      Hi Don... These primary plugs are strange.. they don't actually seat like a regular bolt.. they're actually tapered and you screw them in with about the force of a crosshead screw... Hylomar works best if you can seat the thread nice and tight.. but for these it'd be almost impossible.. Using a PTFE tape is the prescribed method with these !
