This is a very good course for a rifleman. I shot in the DCM against the Army Marksmanship unit in Texas. (We were one of a few 600 yard line ranges). Open sight and military weapons only. I was favorably impressed by their expertise. Looking back, I only wish I had some of their skills and understanding. By the way, one of their top shots was a female. Nothing but respect for their unit. Good job, , SSGT Green!

Solid training, SSG. Did not manage death by Power point.
    Critique:
The Army should spare a few bucks for a lapel mic while on the range to hear the instructor over the reports of other rifles firing

If this level of accuracy is normal service rifle marksmanship then I really have to wonder what sniper or dmr training accuracy is like. Excellent shooting

Those groups aren't typical for a typical soldier.

What you are watching is for the most part SDM instruction. Soldiers coming into that program may or may not have had the sort of training to inspire Marksmanship but the SDM program clarifies what’s important and thus students typically will get great results with rack grade M4 or M16-A4 inside a week of range time. Also, remember the Soldier here is only shooting at 25 meters thus sight misalignment error is largely masked so even Soldiers who are not getting consistent sight alignment are able to produce pretty good groups even if they areonly marginally comprehending the principles of marksmanship.

Thank you for the video series.
Just watched from the beginning to the end. Gave me many points to focus on in my training. I am having swaying and drifting. My elevation in standing, sitting, kneeling and prone are good, but i find my shots drifting right. Or shall i say flying right.

On the blood diamond mission I had to think and then I realized I would probably die for sure I really thought that. I grabbed a half pint of sour mash drank it quickly and left tent we hauled ass the whole time we hauled ass. In all my missions I have done this was only the second one where I had to haul ass all the time. I guess it helped cause the place was crawling with enemy everywhere

    Great series of vids....
Tho rushed thru,,need to go bl=k and ck on ammo, and what your distance was etc,,,i have read for 62 gr -ammo and 20 in rifles use a 36 yd set up????
we did a 27.77 yd or 1000 inch initial mechanical zero way back with 55 gr and 1/12 20 inch barrel rifles...
    Very good series thx

20 inch barrels (A2) use a 25m zero however the elevation drum is set to 8/3 +1 (or 6/3 +2 on the detachable ones, often you will see a z on the drum) as it corrects for difference in sight radius between the 20 inch and 14.5 inch carbine. The zero is then confirmed on a target at 300 meters. Any other distance renders the advantages of having an A2 sight useless.
When assembling an A2 rear sight, where the drum bottoms out also matters, if it bottoms at the 8/3 setting it is much less useful than if it bottoms out at 8/3 minus 4 clicks (or 6/3 minus 7), as now when it is zeroed at 300 meters, you can also have 200 (8/3 -2 or 6/3 -4) and 100 meter settings (8/3 -3 or 6/3 -6) as well. (The extra set screw click is a buffer zone).
All A2 style sights are designed for the 62 grain projectile, however for the purposes of practical accuracy, will work for the 55 grain M193 with little difference to 500 meters. (see FM 3-22.9 section 5-34)
The 36 yard zero is often used for Aimpoint style red dot sights. To make a long explanation short, it gives the least amount of holdover from 5 to 300 meters. Put the dot on the target and shoot. At 300 meters raise point of aim about 12 inches.
ACOGs are zeroed at 100 meters so the BDC reticle will be in the proper holderovers (You can still do the 25/300 trick using the 300 meter holdover to get you on paper before doing a final 100 meter zero).
MaTech and KAK sights can also be zeroed using the 25/300 meter system.

And do not enter a house cause a lot are booby trapped. A Delta Firce. Turned me on Thattt crap cause I was after the enemy who had killed my back up and he ran into a house as I was fixing to go in he reached and grabbed me and told me why not to enter and then he showed me IMG. He cracked open the door and I looked inside and it was dusty air and I saw the thread yes just a small thread the dust had settled on the whole house was booby trapped. That was my first firefight we went against about 300?enemy we killed 250 the other 150 ran retreated

Why in the world did this take up SEVEN (7) videos?!? All this info was NOT needed for the average soldier, as the vast majority will NEVER engage at more than 300yds. I pity those who have to sit through this massive waste of time. They will despise going to the range and will never know the joy of hitting what you're aiming at every single time.
