    That is crazy ! Vibration would rattle your fillings loose !

    • @Turnipstalk
      @Turnipstalk Před měsícem +7

      Not necessarily. Very low rpm.
      Vibration increases as mass of piston & top of rod * (square of mean piston speed). So if you compare it to a 500cc single (86x86mm) a similar 2 litre engine would be about 137mm stroke and the piston would be 4 times heavier. To get the same power, the rpm would be a quarter as great, since each power pulse is 4 times bigger.
      So the mean piston speed would be as (137/86) * 0.25,and the mean piston speed squared would be 1/6th that of the 500. The piston is 4 times the mass, so overall vibration at the same power is *less* for the big engine. This seems counter intuitive but explains why old racing cars with huge engines did not vibrate themselves to bits. A 2 litre engine at 1500 rpm is producing the same power as a 500cc one at 6000rpm..

      Reminds me of the screening plant operating on top of a massive gravel conveyor at a former manufacturing business I once worked for. Contained a giant cross-shaft mounted eccentrically to cause a many-ton screening box to oscillate when aggregate was dumped into it, for the purpose of screening rock and gravel. When the massive electric motor started that thing to moving on giant coil springs, the mass equivalent to several semi truck tractors just about lept off the shop floor before it all got into a happy rhythm. hahaha

    0:38 For all non German speakers, that's a bit of a mixup. Werner Dienstkrad is not a person. Werner is a cartoon character and the motorcycle shown is called "Satte-Liter-Schüssel", which is a wordplay on its big displacement of 1440cc and the German word for satellite bowl. The engine and the wheels came from a Deutz tractor, the gearbox was taken from a Harley Davidson. The rest is custom made, most notably the forks that were made from two solid pieces of ash wood. The fuel tank is part of the handlebar. Creator of this contraption is Andi Feldmann, brother of cartoonist Rötger "Brösel" Feldmann, who had previously designed the bike as his comic books' main character's "Dienstkrad" or "service motorcycle"

      There have been much bigger single cylinder 2 strokes. They are the development engines for marine 2 strokes and the biggest are around 2000 *litres* .

Where was the space for 14 base gasket studs found? How hasnt this removed so.much material the failure point of the 500 cases is not just transfered to slightly lower than barrel securing thread depth. How long it all lasts is another thing, fair play for getting it to run. Long live silly projects.
