If you reset the anti-theft system, do you need to reprogram after the reset? I have been having problems since installing an aftermarket stereo that triggered the anti-theft system. When I did the ignition to on 5x, I was able to start the car, but now have been having slow crank issues ever since. Tested battery, it was fine. Had me going crazy. Do you think reprograming the current ecu will help/possiblt solve my issue?😊
You are such a legend, I have toyota echo 1999, which has been my daily for the past 3 years and it goes strong every day,
This morning I went to start it and it cranked but it just wouldnt start
I called my roadside assistance, the guy started off with cleaning the crankshaft sensor, and fiddling with other stuff for about 30 mins
Finally, he figured out its the immobiliser, and he said the battery on my key has gone flat and I need to get a new one,
I went a got a battery but it still wont start, than he fiddled for another 30 mins and finally said I ll have to tow it to toyota and there is nothing he can do
And we all know how those stealers rob you,
So I tried this and boom started like a dream

@@jahsunhandy I was asking him if this is just a temporary fix...I tried this myself and it worked i even programmed a old key which my lock smith told me wouldn't work with the new computer I installed in my Toyota..
Will this work on a 2003 Lexus SC430? I only have the valet key and want to reprogram ECU for a master key I purchased on eBay. Also, once master key is programmed, I assume I need to reprogram the valet key that I have too.

@@5.4weldingtruck I used a paper clip and insert it in the obd reader port.. it's been a while so I can't remember which hole I insert the paper clip I think it's 4 and 13 and turn the ignition to on and let the car sit for 30 min then turn it off and remove the paper clip..do a search on CZcams there's a few videos showing how to do it..

My 05 sienna had a few random times where it wouldn't start because the engine immobilizer wasn't sensing the keys. One day it wouldn't start at all and the immobilizer dash light wouldn't turn off. Did this and it started right up. Thanks!
I had about 20 Camry's and they were all trouble. We have one left and its a pain. Last year the key was lost and we took the key and parts from the second last which had been wrecked. I changed the key with the security module, that wasn't enough, I had to change the TCM module, then I got VSC codes which disabled the hybrid regen. But still it did not work no matter what, no shifter unlock and no steering unlock, so I changed the radio, then the shifter unlocked but not the steering, so then I changed the key button, then the security all went to normal but still no start and no unlock steering, so then I changed the steering lock module then the car started but then set the codes for VSC and hybrid regen again.
So after much to do, reset by "paper clip trick" got everything working and the car was good again, but then some ass hole lost the key AGAIN!
So now a year later, the car is finally sent to Toyota for the new key, but all they do is program and say its done. All the same shit over again, VSC and hybrid codes which our shop can not reset, only Toyota they say. But I had done this last year but I can't remember the 9 million step procedure with this silly paper clip crap. Last year I had made a button just so I could press it the correct number of times within a certain time frame... Frustrating as hell.

Ive had my 06 Sienna for over a year without the anti theft light blinking. Today it randomly started blinking after I installed a backup camera. I am able to start the car with no problems thus far but I am confused as to why the anti theft light is blinking all of a sudden.

My aunts car is a 2005 Scion Tc that wont start. But she didn't have that changed. The security light is flashing on the dash. She said it never did that before. I just changed the fuel pump, because I didn't hear it come on. Now I do hear it come on, but it still does not start. Before I changed the fuel pump, I changed the serpentine belt and tensioner. That was a pain to do. I had the battery disconnected. I disconnected the antilock brake system, just to move it a little more, to get room by the motor mount, so I could pull it off, so I could get the tensioner bolt out. I think it needs a bolt a little bit shorter. LOL
I wonder if this would help me? IDK I read other people drive their cars with that light flashing. This one will not start. It cranks, but will not start.

Tried this in Toyota Camry 2004 and it’s worked. But I only pinned the clip for only about 10mins. Is there any problem if I just pinned it less than 30mins?

I was trying to fix my clock, & dome light, and in process noticed the battery was bulging so I got a new battery and immediately the horn started made me jump twice. Took that fuse out, lights still flashing, and now trying to get the light to go off. This is on a 97 camry. My 99 never did this at all.

i am going to try this tomorrow hoping it works rebuilt 2006 tundra engine at 221k put it back in and i have no ignition power all of a sudden but power everywhere else and i can jumper the starter soo the engine is free and cranks power to fuel pump just no spark soo fingers crossed this ecu reset does the trick thanks!

What if you didnt replace your ECU, would this still work to reprogram the ECU that I already have? Something is going on with my 2001 Toyota Tundra security system, it sometimes gets triggered and the security system light goes out and Im unable to start my engine. Fuses are all good, my battery is good, so Im lost on what is triggering my security system light to go out when I try cranking the engine.
Same here. Just got back from being out of town few days, stopped to get gas, turned off the car, noticed my radio wasn’t playing when it should, and car wouldn’t start anymore; i kept taking the key out/in, by the Grace of God it started, i turned it off, it wouldn’t start again; i filled a full tank of gas, was able to get car started, but gas indicator still showing empty, not full; got home, tried the key out again, engine immobilizer light flashes, very strange behavior....
@@igobythisname mine is doing this now. 2000 tundra. Went to go back to work and my truck just did a click and the truck went dead. Won’t start or turn over. I’m going to try a few of these tricks I’ve saw. I tested battery fuses and the wire connections I could see

A month ago i replaced the fusible link that's in the fuse box. To do that, i did have to remove the ecm to replace the fusible link. After the replacement, the lock system (anti theft system) stopped working and i does chirp, lock or unlock when i press the remote. Also i cannot open the trunk with the remote. Can this issue be resolved by resetting the ecm like in the video?

The video shows the insertion of the jumper on pins 5 and 13.
You have to look at the holes that actually have a pin.

i have a 1995 lexus ls400... i have tried everything to get the security system to reset. the obd2 worked the first time. then after 3 weeks it locked up again. tried the obd2 trick and nothing.. inspected wires, plugs, fuses, relays, unlocked and locked doors. i am going crazy lol.... security system is still going crazy, lights turn on, but does not crank. security light flashes 3 times every few seconds.
