How to Chalk Paint The Old World Antique Look

- This week we will focus on using Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint to create the Old World Antique look! I will show you how I play around with colors and waxes when I am not sure which direction it is I want to go. Some of my favorite Dixie Belle colors will come back out like Mud Puddle and now Tea Rose along with some new ones like Flamingo which I now love. We'll do a little distressing for added effect. I also finally got a chance to try Dixie Dirt, adding a cool aging effect to the piece. I finished it off with some gray and easy peasy spray wax for protection!

Irene Mota Dobson thanks for chiming in Irene! Experimenting is the best way I have found to come up with really nice color combinations and much more. Itâs totally worth it even if we mess up while doing it! Thatâs why I do it on smaller pieces so the disasters arenât so painful lol.

Love this...you find some nice subjects. Totally agree the piece speaks to you. I've never used the grey wax before it gives a lovely subtle Smokey look. It deffinitely looks olde world. I fall in love with every piece I do and end up keeping it...Need to let go lol đI love the look on your dogs face while you are talking too.

This video was even better than I'd hoped for! I love love the combinations you used and the end result. You really have the special touch. I have a very old vintage bicycle I've been holding off on painting until I found the perfect color combination & technique to use on it. This is it. This is absolutely it. I'm ordering my Dixie bell paints now to do this. Oh, and you're right about their brushes! I got mine last week. Amazing brushes!

Hi girl, I love it. When I blend colors I use a clean brush and the water mist bottle. I do this right next the second coat of both colors with the clean brush. I love your technique. Always learn something new đ
