The Viola’s unique construction and woody tone produce unique sound on stage and in the studio. Today, vintage models are difficult to find and are often plagued by vintage problems along with their vintage price tag. Epiphone engineers have solved those problems with our Viola, which has the same classic sound with improved pickups, hardware, and electronics.

I just picked one up used, not a scratch on it. I'm very excited for new bass day!

Honestly this bass has better sound than the Höfner bass , but it's better aesthetically Höfner . I have tried both and both are very good.

Thanks. Both are very good bass , if I had to pick one I think without duds choose the Höfner , since the Epiphone does not have a sound unusual , however the Höfner has a different sound, like acoustic , and as I said above it is more attractive .

Looks very nice except for the plate beneath the knobs, which needs a major rethink.

I'm going to order mine in the next few days and as soon as I get it that plate is coming off. I'm hoping that it's just set on over the regular drillings for the pots and that there isn't a huge hole under it instead. I'd like to unscrew it, take it off, and put the knobs back on, but we'll see.

Is which best tension of strings for this bass?

Hi, I'll be auditioning for a Beatles tribute band and find the sound and look of this viola bass to be great, although I've read some comments saying this is a head-heavy bass so it tends to go downwards when playing standing up. is this true? perhaps some owners could give me some advice ? Thanks!
