    got a windsock in my car all times. its a fishing net carbonfiber pole. cost 20 pounds and is 8 meter long to show wind at same height as the wing. super lightweight and saved my life not just once. i dont fly without.

      I see we meet again. Thanks again, still waiting on Amazon for mine. Went flying last Saturday and would've appreciated having a windsock on my 3rd landing 😂

      Mark, I use a 24' fiberglass pole and long kite streamers from Amazon and will not fly without it!
      Thanks for the most enjoyable video!

      Same. I did have a windsock with me but the walk to the field was quite long and it was a public park, so didn't want to leave it out for hours whilst gone flying. Maybe I'll just risk it next time.

      Yeah I did have one with me, but we all went for a long XC from a public park, and I didn't want to leave it out.

      @@markallisonparamotor in that case put the windsock a bit further from launch where nobody see it except you when come in for landing. you can always put it on your car. if LZ is 100 meter away, chances are low the wind will change much. at least you get the direction right.

    This was a pretty and educational flight. I'm not envious of your weather, but you do get some spectacular history where you fly. Nice work putting together the video and audio. Thank you.

      Glad you enjoyed it! Yes weather is not great here, and especially the last year has been particularly bad for flying paramotors. But when it is good, it's pretty special.

    I never do this ... but I wanted to say thank you for your well-produced, informative, and entertaining videos. I subscribe to several PG and PPG channels and yours is one of my favorites. Well done, and thank you.

    Luvly Jubbly ... well done Mark 🐥🐦
    PS: ... remind me to tell you about the landing where the wind switched exactly 180 during a 90 min XC, and I thought (at a glance) it was still in the same direction as when I took off ... lets just say 'there were holes in my flying suite afterwards' 🙃

    • @markallisonparamotor
      @markallisonparamotor  Před 2 měsíci

      Yeah I always check the sock on my return... if I have one. 99% of the time I do.

    That's exactly my yesterday's landing too... No wind, warmer (lighter) air - you end up on your knees/belly more often... And no big help to circle around to determine the wind direction, since on the ground it could be nill or even opposite, like yesterday... Very nice video!

    get some bobbles on your brake handles and take a wrap before initiating your flair,, it works every time .

    • @markallisonparamotor
      @markallisonparamotor  Před 2 měsíci

      Never usually a problem because I have a high hang point machine, but that's a good idea, I've never tried doing that simply because I've never needed it.

    Was it pretty much nil? Those landings are so tricky. Question though, is it harder to tell which direction the wind is coming from when using a faster wing? I fly Dudek Solo and can usually tell where the wind is, but I'm curious of your take or thoughts.

    • @markallisonparamotor
      @markallisonparamotor  Před 2 měsíci +1

      It was nil on the ground, but maybe a tailwind, I don't know. I only know I had a tailwind at 500 ft high, but it could have been different lower down.

      @@markallisonparamotor hello my old mate:-) i hope your doing well, with all the shit of covid i ended up making 27,000 ventilators but with all the mess i stopped flying and sold the scout but i did sporn some new paramotor pilots so all was not wasted🙂
      i secured a few fields to fly from and the others are still using them.
