The second gimbal protector the Sunnylife is awesome. Protects the screen and protect the gimbal when it's in your pocket. The fact that when it's put on it still fits in your pocket is a testament.
I bought the 2nd one, thank you so much, this case is exactly what I was looking for!!! I can now actually put the pocket 3 in my pocket, because the gimbal is protected . Screen is also protected which is a nice bonus. I use the neewer filter and it fits inside. The neewer filter is slimmer than other filters , which allows the pocket 3 camera to close normally with the filter still on. I have learned so much from your channel. Keep up the awesome work.
I've been promoting the use of the second one here and in the DJI forums, because it protects the parts that most need protecting, but equally importantly, there is absolutely no strain on the gimbal or screen when you fit it or remove it. That's pretty unique - it's the case DJI should have supplied (except it doesn't store the mic or the wide lens, I admit).
The other whole approach is offered by the ScottyMakesStuff cases. They sell several models for the Pocket 3. I have the top of the range one and a smaller one too. (I bought them myself). These have the advantage of being built like tanks and they hold the mic and the lens, and have several tripod thread sockets and cold shoes built in. But the point of them is that you leave the case on when using the camera, apart from the cap part. And in the case of the Pro model, you can actually lay the camera down when shooting because the case is designed to keep the gimbal off the table (or whatever) surface at all times. Needless to say they are much more expensive than those you have featured, and they make the camera a bit big for a pocket, but if you regard the Pocket 3 as a shrunk-down proper camera, never mind the pocket bit, then these Scotty cases really suit that approach. I do like the #2 form factor, And interesting analysis on scotty’s stuff. I feel that they deviate a bit too far from the original appeal of this camera and the cases were a bit on the bulky side.
yeah, I was interested in the Scottymakesstuff versions,,, but even the slim version just seemed too big for a "pocket" carry. The Sunnylife version protects and is super slim to carry in a "pocket".
Id like to see something that protects the head when you turn it off between shots but the head is on the opposite side because you have an ndfiltet or lens protector on
the last one works with filter when turned off. The OEM works as well.
I've been on the search too like you have before settling on the Sunnylife case (#2) as most people here mentioned.
Has your Pocket 3 held up okay following your tests with the other cases? The other cases sometimes gently moved the gimbal from the locked position when it's turned off.
So far there's no noticeable issue, but perhaps it's not as bad as it seems.
Thank you for sharing the different options for the Pocket! Because I live in Korea, I don't think any of these are really an option. But I still appreciate seeing what's out there!

@@CharlieVN I found this fourth article useless compared to the original DJI protection. The pocket 3 fits in well but the exit requires a certain amount of care, like the original. Except that on this one the plastic isn't good quality, it's not aesthetically pleasing, and the lack of foam doesn't provide good protection against shocks, I think, as the plastic is too rigid. That's my humble opinion :) (your first article seems better to me).
Kudos for filming inside Phước Lộc Thọ! I just got my DJI Pocket 3 as well, and I plan to visit Phước Lộc Thọ next weekend for Lunar New Year! Aka Tết!
In case you don’t know, It is going to be ridiculously packed, you can end up half mile away if you don’t know the little tricks 😉, but it’s lots of fun. Be prepared for reckless drivers, road rage, long lines, and all that jazz.

Hey guy with camera, first off, you're awesome. Today I got the sunnylife hard shell one you show and it's pretty great, it fits inside the dji creator kit pouch unlike the supplied dji hard case thingy. Its thin plastic but I think it could sustain a drop, its probably best suited for dust protection rather than drop protection. i also have the sunnylife silicon protector but i can't really recommend it, it also fits in the pouch but it is so tight fitting on the gimbal that it almost feels like it would hurt the gimbal if you're not careful or try to remove it in a rush which kinda defeats the always readiness of having the pocket 3. Keep up the great work!
bonus feature i just noticed with the hard shell, its semi transparent so when you charge the pocket 3 with the cover on you can read the battery percentage thru the screen protector pretty easily
yes, I mention that in the video, great feature, and I do have a mod for that case and the original as well for those who want to try. Not super necessary, however the mod does work better on the original case due to the stiffness. Will post the video today or tomorrow.

Another option is mod the original case, if you don’t wanna buy other cases. Great video!
I have considered the chopsaw many times, the only thing holding me back is the awkward shape, afraid it might fly all over when i chop it up. The blade hitting a magnet might be an issue too.

I got the hardshell one from Sunnylife that you show second because I like the design and form factor. That being said, it's NOT more convenient to use than the DJI cover. It's very sturdy and the hinge at the top takes several seconds to open. So it's good in terms of protection, but nothing to go with if you just want to get the thing quickly out of your pocket and back in with some protection. I don't really think the silicone options are either and not even your favored last one that you show. That one seems nice enough to use, but certainly still not quicker to handle than the original one. I feel like for the moment, the original case is still the one that offers the easiest and quickest get-in-get-out experience. I just wished they had designed it slightly less awkward (what's with the bottom of the Pocket sticking out and the clam leaving marks on the Pocket despite the felt lining).
The best case of the Pocket series, in my opinion, was the first one's OEM combined with the silicone top cover from KIWI design (czcams.com/video/n3MAh0Ya_JY/video.html). Too bad they didn't come out with something similar for the Pocket 2 and Pocket 3.
The last one is easier to slip in and out, but the main attractions: see through for charging status, sd access, side slip to prevent screen damage, slimmer and material makes it easy to slip into your pocket. Downside is no lens holder and still a bit bulky. Shame on sunnylife #2, wondering if it’ll loosen over time.
Thanks for all the details on the cases. I am still not satisfied with what is available. The one you show with the tiny foam and sliding the camera into the case makes me think at some point the screen will get scratched. I would rather see a larger case with thicker foam, and not something that is so snug or tight.
Have you seen the ones from Scotty Makes Stuff? They're 3D-printed, a bit more expensive, but definitely well-made.

The silicone sunnylife sucks ass. I am afraid to remove it after I put it on, because its such a tight fit
