  • Look, I'm tired! I'm sick of it! People in Europe keeps on asking me if I am really from Canada or not? So I'm ready to end this discussion once and for all, we are going ice fishing! As well, to add a bit of my bio, I wanted tell you guys a bit more on my background. My mom is Chinese and my step dad is Dutch, so I guess I retained a bit of both Asian and European cultures when growing up in Canada.

Hello ladies and gents! This is my last video around Canada for a while since I have already gotten back to Czech Republic. Yes, I'm still conflicted all the time whether I'm Chinese or Canadian or both? Let me know in the comment session what do you think on this subject! Have a good day :-)

Woah thats quite a lot of snow! I have heard that it actually doesn't snow much in Ontario, but looks like I'm wrong!

Really depends on where in Ontario as well since is so big. This year apparently we had a lot of snow even in southern Ontario. But yea, northern Ontario is another ball game in terms of coldness!

I hope you already enjoy the spring weather in Prague, after coming back from winter Canada! Following the mention in the video, how do you feel about political correctness (PC)? I would say Canada and Czechia stand on the opposite sides in this issue. As you have experienced both countries, what do you personally consider as the right balance? Do you think that Canadian universities are overly sensitive regarding PC nowadays? Many thanks for your opinion! And if you would like to expose yourself even more, what was your university major? Cheers!

I'm Chinese-American. I am going back to visit Czech Republic, again, for in-laws. It isn't easy to be Asian there, from what I experienced. I was followed around in stores by clerks, saw a guy curse a crowd of "f-ing Chinese", identified as Vietnamese on the street, and the Czech airport separated me from my daughter, so she can get her left-behind coat from the bathroom with 7 Czech security guard! The Chinese food there is soft and heavy on the sauce, and not as flavorful. The buildings are beautiful. Thank you for your old posts.

Dog-sledding is also popular in Canada, isn't it? I already look forward to another nationality-proving video. >:-) It looks you had a great time when ice-fishing. Thumbs up for an outdoor activity, you already know how to become a Czech. Just do it. Do not hesitate. ;-)

I find it very ironic that you defend your Canadian and your Chinese citizenship. A couple questions: 1) Doesn’t Chinese law prohibit double citizenship? Are you one of the many millions of Chinese that hide their second passport from the government? 2) You seem to be quite firm in your determination that you are both Chinese and Canadian. Do you know any Canadians who are also Chinese? No? Wanna know why? Because racism is the basis of Chinese nationality laws. A Canadian born of caucasian/latino/African parents who lived their whole life in China, speaks native Chinese, never committed a crime and contributed to Chinese society has no way in hell to become Chinese or even get a green card. On the other hand, a Canadian born in Canada out of Chinese parents can easily claim their Chinese citizenship even if they’ve never been to China and don’t speak the language. It is perfectly normal for Chinese people to tell foreign born children that “they aren’t and will never be Chinese” and when the heartbroken children innocently ask “why?” it is considered perfectly acceptable and normal for Chinese people to answer “because you are a 老外 (foreigner!), your hair is blond(e) and your eyes are blue!/your skin is black!” Reciprocity should be the basis of all human relations, but you guys are always veeeery willing and eager to exploit the system to your own advantage without giving anything at all in return. Shame.
