There are snowshoes called, "Bear Paws" that while walking they are snowshoes and while going down hills, you crouch and pull the toes up. That tightens the grid under your feet that makes the snowshoe become a smooth sled surface and you slide down the hills. It is fun and exciting, and I recommend you try it sometime.

First your Dad is a hoot🤣-We camp all year round in Ohio and Michigan, funny thing is we live right behind one of Ohio’s busiest ski mountains and have never skied or snowshoed.
Love that area! Any must see spots that you'd recommend?
@@LivingLargeCamping Our favorite is Hocking Hills in Ohio. As far as Michigan- y’all have been up there and know it is one big toy box for outdoor enthusiasts!
The pitch from a pine tree is edible. Don't swallow it but chew it. It is sticky at first, but once it gets some saliva in it, it is like a chewing gum texture. Chewing it gives you a lot of vitamin C too.
Have you ever tried Cross Country skiing? For me it was a much harder workout than snowshoeing, but it is fun too and something different to try. As for that deep snow, you do not sink in as much as with snowshoes so you can get to some places you cannot get to with snowshoes.
How interesting, I would have never known! and never tried cross country skiing, but ive been curious!

Looks like you are having a great time in Montana.
Instead of snowshoes, we chose to go with cross country skies for about 30 years.
I finally had to give it up when my back became too bad to walk very far.
Love being out in the winter wonderland.
We've been curious about cross country skis, yet to try them out!

Why didn't you ski from the top
There are a couple runs we would have done, but the snow was extremely limited. Only a couple sections open at the time
