Question, I often see people saying that they never wash their arming doublet for sizing and it’s all filthy. I understand it can’t thrown into the washing machine and medieval aristocracy could likely afford new ones when their own stunk, but can an arming doublet not be washed by hand like ye olden days. People hated being dirty throughout history and not everyone wearing one could likely afford replacements. Is hand washing possible?
Spiral lacing works really well for this. My black doublet spiral laces all the way up, while my red one spirals up half way, then uses 3 separate laces to close up the rest.
I've never seen a brass awl. Very cool.

It's very possible to wash it, especially if all of the fabric is pre-washed before sewing.
Awesome. Is there a certain way to lace up the front of the arming doublet?
