- Important Guide to how to tackle cruiise ports in the Canary Islands. Where they dock, how to get to town, whether you should buy the Ship's TOURS, and how to get the best out of your trip.
We tell you what to expect, disemabarkion routes, how to get to the centre, and what you find in each destination.
Additionally, ships tours are expensive in the Canary Islands. Can you do the cruise ports of call better yourself? We test out a theory: don't buy the excursions from the ship, instead craft out your own tours and schedule. Does it work? Let's see

As each port we were stopping at is small, and compact, we thought it a good candidate to try this strategy, as they would be easily walkable, no tenders and you can amble right into town.
We went to Tenerife, La Palma, and Fuertaventura
Cruising is catching on fast... but is this the right ship, and right cruise line? Is P&O any good. Is cheap the way to go, or will you regret it? We find out on your behalf.
TIPS valid for : P&O, Princess, Cunard, Royal Caribbean, NCL Norwegian Cruise lines, Celebrity, Marella, TUI, Virgin, Oceania, MSC, Ambassador

ABOUT ME:
Hi, my name is Bill! Together with my family we have lived in 5 countries around the world, and spend our life travelling, in both a professional and recreational capacity. The aim of this channel is to give an honest, practical viewpoint, showing exactly what we found, and what tips we may be able to offer. We do not sell vacations, and the objective is to give a fully independent, and real picture. We hope you enjoy the reviews we post. Please do feel free to comment and share. Thanks!
we stopped at Tenerife and Lanzarote on our canary island leg of the cruise (Cape Town to Barcelona) and I would say Tenerife was also the most interesting for me
This was a very informative video!!!!!!
THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!!!
You are very welcome!
I know the Canary Islands quite well, since my family's ancestry was from Tenerife. Have been there at least 10X incl a 5 day stay when I rented a car and drove all around the island. Have also been to 4 of the islands including: Gran Canarias, Lanzarote and Las Palmas. (would love to go to Fuente Ventura, to add to my repertoire). Will be in Tenerife this Nov. 23 2023 (Oceania Marina) and May 19, 2024 (Cunard Queen Anne). (BTW... words starting with "LL" is said like "Yolks".)
Thank you for sharing. I wish more cruisers did things like this. It helps you to make decisions on your cruise options. Because like you said, some ports there is plenty to do, others not so much. Thanks again
You're welcome!
for La Palma go on a tour about the recent eruption ... lots of people lost their houses but only only one fatality, remarkable since the lava flowed through residential areas, fuerteventura, ideal opportunity to use the ship's spa at discounted port day prices!!
Thanks for the idea!
Thanks 👍
Welcome 👍
Such a dry wit, brilliant videos.
Thank you very much! Please subscribe, if you haven't already done so....we have a lot more videos coming up 😀
@@ritzytravelguide already subbed, looking forward to future cracking videos.
Thanks for the La Palma bus tip to Los Llanos. Have done the Canaries many times (annual trip for winter sun!) and were wondering what different things we could do - although La Palma is one of my favs just to wander around.
Hi there. Yes do give Los Llanos a try. We enjoyed the feel of it!
Hello, wow, beautiful places, I enjoyed spending time with you, friendly like, come visit, I will be very happy, good luck and all the best🤗🤗😍😍🤩🤩
On topic
Note: In Spanish, the "ll" sounds like the "g" in the word "gentleman"....The "ll" in the town name Los Llanos (in the word "Llanos"), sounds the same way that the "g" in "gentleman".
Thanks!
For fuertoventura you van head to jandia which has lots of nice beaches
Yes, that's true! Problem for cruisers, is the short amount of time ashore, and logistics getting to the lovely beaches
@ritzytravelguide we are actaully booked on this same cruise in November
Have a great time, the weather will be fantastic at that time of year! Madeira and Tenerife will be in full swing
When was this video filmed?
Hi, in February this year
@@ritzytravelguide thank you
Would you recommend going in Feb? I am afraid it can be too cold
No gran canaria
I will be doing an updated part 2 of this video soon, and will be including Gran Canaria, and also Lanzarote
