I think a drink submerged in freezing liquid will cool better than surrounded by block ice hence the reason the willow cooled better than the rest. Maybe a comparison of freezing water in all for a day and then test the drink temp

I feel for you with the scared of hights thing, I'm scared of hights too. You did very well though in the cherry picker and it was good to see the difference between the coolers and the eskies

Cumon buddy you have the boat for family comfort and most fishing! How about going after spanner crabs? My bet is they are inside the bar north of amity. Pull the trays after 20 minutes. If the water is clean and you have 10 meters on sandy bottom I bet you will have a good day ! Cheers
Great watch mate..completely off track. Got some crabs down to Thompson's. How the hell you get get them quick little buggers on a hook. One ran clean up me sleeve and down my collar..wish I had on video. Anyhoo, I thought on ice sludge but I thought I'd ask the expert.. keep em coming..👍🏻

With an esky you spend more money for more time for the ice to stay frozen. 24 hours is okay but try 48 or longer and the yeti will win hands down. Second with the beer test, the water and Ice will be cooler than just the ice. How many willow esky will you take on the new boat on a fishing trip for 3 days.
When they make a willow in 400ltrs I’ll take it 😂😂
I got a 210L yeti for fish & held ice for days in the centre console in full sun. Yes expensive & heavy but I still went back & got a 65L yeti for drinks. Even the basket that comes with the bigger eskys is awesome for keeping the bait cold but not to cold on a days fishing.
I haven’t seen the basket in them as yet

The temp of the can is directly related to the contact of the surface area of ice & water to the can.
Tipping the ice out makes a world of difference. Same thing when people throw fish on top of ice bags rather than in an ice slurry.

Haha I agree mate very over priced, especially in their smaller stubby holders etc. it was actually Micks esky, he acquired it from an old timer. Then let me drop it 🤦♂️
Evakool and techni ice, are the best eskies for the tropics, hands down!

Smart ppl buy a can of expanding foam fill lid of willow esky as their hollow that’s where coolnes is major loss

The reason the beer is colder in the willow is due to the water in the ice that would give more contact surface area to the can
An interesting test would be a ambient temperature thermometer in the esky’s
I’d have to guess the yeti would have the least amount of variance
The old willow is great for a bbq or a day trip for a few nights camping I’d definitely go the yeti or the similar heavy duty poly esky
In saying that a another poly style esky test would be good
And this Adz, is why i said call her "Blurred Vision!"

Not a perfect science but an interesting one for sure. I have a 75L Yeti that I bought for $500 and it holds ice for 3 days in the hottest of NT weather. It suits my needs but for a day trip I’d use a smaller cheaper esky. Love the beer test, any excuse to crack a beer! 👍

I would rather spend the money and buy a waeco/dometic esky. I bought the 111L one 10 years ago and it's still going strong and keeps block ie for almost a week.

Good video mate, but I have to challenge you on your understanding of Newton’s second law of thermodynamics ( this is a joke btw). If you leave the cans out of the esky long enough they will all return to ambient temp. So when you saw the temps rising you have to take the lowest temp recorded. The rise is equilibrium doing it thing !!!😂

pretty good experiment old mate, however as a home caterer, doing functions in people's homes I always used foam boxes to carry my cold foods. They stacked well and lasted months (needing a good clean every so often) This was over a period of twenty years and i had very little breakages despite the heavy handling,. on my boat I have an 80 litre esky similar to the Yeti. this was used while I lived on board before I got my 12V fridge running. 7kg bag of ice did me for 3 days.

The willow had the better (colder) beer because the ice melted more which made the water level in the cooler higher. The can’s surface was in contact with more water than the cans in the other coolers.
The yeti covered the beer the most in the esky cause the smaller space.
Foam box can not be sat on....
I turned off at the xxxx gold. U talk of saving money, u be better off drinking out of a muddy puddle than drink 4x gold, that’ll save u money
