- This time we are looking at yet another Hasbro Black Series helmet: the Boba Fett (Prototype Armor) helmet. This design was originally meant for a super-Stormtrooper, but after a repaint and slight costume changes, became one of the most popular characters in the Star Wars franchise, and certainly the most revered bounty hunter: Boba Fett. Let's look at the outside, the inside and the box and see what we think!

WOW.. you just saved me $100 TY I can't believe who in the DEI department said yes to using older molds.
A helmet so successful, they can release the prototype version and everyone still loves it.
Right, ZombieGuy?! haha! They are clearly going to squeeze every ounce of profit out of this mold for sure!
Thanks for the close up look, Paul! I'm gonna be working on some Mando Armour at some stage soon (hopefully) so this would make for a good base for the helmet. Frustrating that the weathering sculpt is still present but I suppose it could be sanded back a bit. If it shows up down here, I could be tempted.
Well, thank you for checking out the video, Jesse! I hope it helped a little. And I think you're spot on with this one. It would make an excellent base to customize for an original Mandalorian costume look for sure. It just doesn't work in that all-white scheme with all the weathering damage underneath. Hopefully you guys down there get a crack at it soon!

I would take the helmet to customize it myself and make it look like your own kind of Mandalorian

I totally agree with you on this one Paul. It's an easy pass for me as it feels like Hasbro being really lazy and taking advantage of completionists. The single colour paint scheme really shows up how little work has actually been done on this helmet to bring it to market as anything other than a screen used Boba Fett helmet sadly. Prototype Boba is a bit obscure to my mind as well. Die Hard Star Wars fans will recognise it straight away, but as far as I am aware this was only ever seen in pre production photos and has never been seen on screen so the casual observer is not likely to know what it is. I am sure Hasbro saw it as an easy way to reuse this mould again and sadly their lack of attention to detail really shows in this one.
VERY well said, Paul. And I totally agree. The only Boba Fett helmets I have are from Black Series and they have all been lackluster to downright disappointing for sure. I may have to give in one day and get a high end version from eFX or Denuo Novo or the like for my display version in my collection. I appreciate you stopping by and weighing in on this one. As you can see, if you don't absolutely need this one it is definitely a "pass."

Cool looking helmet, good that they removed the dent, should at least match the rest of the helmet to smooth, no texture from the weathering, great vid as usual

Nice review Paul. Just goes to show how much they're been using this mold if they're coming in the old box! Overall I would say it's a decent helmet, but an easy pass unless you are truly a fan of the Fett!
Oh! Hey again, Matt! 'Two-fer' today I see! And I agree with you. I only bought this one because I have a diagnose-able mental condition, but otherwise, it's a real disappointment for sure. Maybe I will get industrious and custom paint it to match my gray and black Stormtrooper helmet and recently customized X-Wing Pilot helmet. We shall see. I have purchased figures from them online in the past when they have had exclusives I have wanted, but I always forget to think of them as a helmet dealer as well. I've never seen any on on the shelves in any of their brick-and-mortar locations for sure. haha! I'll look into that more.

Hey Paul, yeah lovely helmet to look at but very disappointing up close you can see all the weathering just covered up, bit half arsed to say the least, this helmet of course appeals to me but I passed on it in the end, just felt it wasn’t essential to my collection 🤷🏻♂️

Other than just looking cool, I do agree that it’s not exactly the most stellar helmet they have sold. You know they love to give us those repaints! #HasBroken
I agree, Josh. The novelty of having an all white Boba Fett helmet wears off quickly when you start really looking at it. And yeah, they do love repaints, and have you noticed that between TVC, Black Series figures and helmets we get a TON more Mandalorian based repaints? It's a good thing that culture exists in the canon or Hasbro's bottom line would be a lot lower! haha! Good to see you on here again, sir!
@@PaulsCollectibles I could not agree more. Unfortunately, this is just another example of their need to beat a dead horse. Since Disney took over Star Wars, It has been all about quantity versus quality. But instead of actually giving us a lot of different things, they are smothering us with whatever is popular at the time, Baby Yoda… Mandalorians… As soon as they see any glimmer of hope and interest from the fandom, they double and triple down on whatever that point of focus is. So much so, that they ruin what was good about it to begin with.
Did that helmet? Because I got mine when boba Fett showed up on the Mandalorian show.

Yeah, Jason. Hasbro announced like three or four re-releases a few months ago, and this was amongst them. I got that Re-Armored Boba Fett helmet as well that you mentioned and I like that one better. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video!
Don't like at all . White just doesn't do it for me . Especially the moulded " battle scars " . Questions is it new or old . I'll have battered green & red/ brown anyday . Just an opinion. Love your reviews
Thanks, Alan! And yep, you and I agree completely. Once the novelty of having a white Mandalorian helmet wears off, this one is very underwhelming. Does look like they just repainted an older helmet. Like you said unless your a completionest I think I would skip this and purchase a different helmet
Right, Michael? Underwhelming for sure. I think the best use of this helmet would be as a base to customize one's own Mandalorian helmet. I may just do that to go with my custom X-Wing Pilot helmet and the custom Stormtrooper helmet. We shall see!
