  • Wouldn't it be wonderful if there was something simple that could help our planet and our health at the same time?
    Well conveniently there is.
    What we eat.
    Really. Because one plate made up of more fruit and veg isn't just better for you, it's better for the planet too.
    Marvellous.
    So what are we waiting for?
    Let's eat like the world depends on it. One plate at a time.
    Now, what's for dinner?

    This is a very misleading advert. Sainsbury's is not helping everyone eat better. They are producing lots of highly processed food and calling it healthy. I am disgusted in Steven Fry having anything to do with this. If you want to help eat localy, seasonally and learn to cook!

      And that's the problem right there, you said it, their contributions to obesity are killing folk but they will plant a f#$%ing tree for every sick fat kid, not to mention their critical race theory bullshit. The board or the people at the top of sainsbury are discusting virtue signalling arseholes. I hope their business is impacted by their propoganda and choices.

      The impact of the point you raise applies to meat multiple times over. The energy, food, chemicals and environmental impact of meat far outweighs plant based options. All the meat you consume is plant based. Pound for pound, the waste and damage created to provide current meat consumption is monumental.

    • @theprunesrats8273
      @theprunesrats8273 Před 3 lety

      Even so, this advert is misleading on the impact, suggesting it much more significant than it is, the slogan is 'helping everyone eat better' but there is still tonnes of different chemicals in their food giving people cancer
      Like do you really think they care or just trying to lure in more customers? If they were 100% believing everyone should be vegetarian why do they even sell meat in the first place? You're still funding the meat inadvertantly by buying it from the same place
      The supermarket is not the place to buy food ethically, no supermarket, not just sainsburys, if you are truly doing this to help the environment then you should grow as much as your own as possible, go to local organic farm shops, get as much second hand or local hand made things as possible, honestly the tree situation we got going on could counteract this if we stopped being greedy and left them alone for a few hundred years, the machines kill the roots of the other trees that let them communicate and work together, replanting trees doesn't fix it because you need a huge variety of various different aged trees for an established forest, like some need to be 500+ years old and they don't plant enough variety, that is a huge topic though which if you truly care about the environment I urge you to look into, it's really fascinating
      It is difficult to be ethical (Id actually say it's impossible in a modern way of living) and costly, most people are poor too since the pandemic and lots of people don't have a choice and that's why I'm not blaming the consumers whatsoever they have been mislead by conglomerates and attracted by convenience and low cost which are huge things in our modern world and now considered over almost anything else by the vast majority
      The big company's need to make REAL changes, they have the power here to make the positive steps, us as little people all we can do is protest(not stand around with signs but refuse to buy from supermarkets for example)
      They also rip off a tonne of people on the way because people care more about things being cheap than the impact of it, do you know how many farmers live under/on the breadline: more than ever because of supermarkets
      No matter if you're vegetarian or not, supermarkets should not function the way they do in an ideal world and I will admit I do buy from supermarkets because I'm disabled so can't work so can't afford to not to but if I could I would 100% be boycotting them, vegetarian or not

    Yes shipping produce thousands of miles from all around the world is more environmentally friendly than eating a locally grown steak.
    The very notion that shipping food around the globe is the environmentally sound way is beyond laughable.
    Piss off with this propaganda, you are supposed to be a supermarket, not a misinformation outlet. Stop trying to influence what people buy.

    • @grahambarton4826

      Yes, it is! The environmental impact of the logistics is a tiny fraction of the damage that animals have on the planet

    • @tjj4lab
      @tjj4lab Před 3 lety +4

      @@grahambarton4826 You moron, animals have roamed this earth long before we showed up and the earth did just fine. The total livestock numbers are estimated to be roughly equivalent to the numbers of large wild ruminants before we showed up.
      Animal husbandry when done correctly improves soil quality, causes more plants to grow, where as plant cultivation is northing more than destructive to the soil and environment.
      How brainwashed do you have to be to think that animals are bad for the planet? Someone needs to go back to school and study things like the carbon cycle, food chains.
      Animals do not damage anything, people flying thousands of miles all around the world, creating Hi tech goods for a feckless wasteful population, shipping foods around the world for no good reason etc, creates far more Co2 than animals.
      That assumes you are dumb enough to believe that CO2 is actually a problem, it's not. Here is a hint we are currently in a CO2 low period in history, the earth has had more free CO2 than it does today, and yet everything is still here, life didn't die out.
      Learn the CO2 cycle.

      We have a narrative we need to all follow!
      The people who do this for their entire job tell us that there's a problem and we can only fix it if we keep them in a job, so what motive could they have to exaggerate a few numbers or lie?
      Clearly you are a denier of the facts as taught by science. Science has never grown in knowledge or changed, so we know that decades from now we will be looking back and saying we had all the predictions correct (the fact that the predictions have failed up to now is just a sign we have it right moving forward)
