I got the old trans out last night and opened it up which confirmed that 3rd gear no longer had any teeth. Shards of them fell out of the bottom when I dumped it over and the cog itself is all but turned smooth haha
My FD made 375 rwhp and the two stock transmissions lasted only 35k each. Failure was always the input bearing having too much run-out giving a whine that rises in pitch with speed. At 775 rwhp may be 5-10K max?
Yep, it was my original factory trans that only had 53k original miles on it when we ripped the teeth off of third. For now I'm tossing in a spare factory one and just going to let it be for a while
@@dzmazzei with excess exhaust pressure pushing charge backwars thru engine? If it was positive DeltaP across the engine it would aid the surge problem with improved scavenging -> more flow i think?
