- Just a few days ago someone contacted me on Facebook with a collection of Funko Pops for sale. They had no idea how many Grail Pops they had and my jaw dropped. So I made an offer and purchased the collection. I paid for overnight shipping and I anxiously waited for the Funko Pop Vinyl Grail collection to arrive to my shop.

Seeing that you don’t rip off collectors gets my respect. There are a lot of people who would low ball sellers with less knowledge. Kudo is to you my dude and much respect.
I try my best, I aim for 50% of value for most collections so I know it is the right balance of low enough that I can sell half a collection to break even or the whole thing to double my money but at the same time high enough to be fair to the collector.

Cringed when I saw the bottom unprotected Pops were supporting the upper boxes ... It's so hard to try and explain to people how important it is to pack fragile collectables well ...
Yeah, I need to do a video on how to pack large collections. It needed more cardboard or boxes for each level to support the weight. But I did get him to put the top pops in boxes and those all arrived perfectly. He did give me a partial refund on the 2 pops that got damaged so I am very happy overall.

I love them too, when I have the shirt on I know I am wearing something cool and if someone disagrees I feel bad for what they are missing out in life. The Big Bang Theory is a big part of my families life so I love that set. I really need to get all the con exclusive versions of them. And Goonies is a classic!

Very cool, It might stick around since its pretty pricey but I tend to price stuff and forget about it so if the price spikes up he will sell, that is usually what happens.

Hey sometimes you need to give a collectible a sniff test when judging its condition. The Smell of smoke lowers its value for sure.

Yeah its really crazy. I bought a lot of 20-30 of them for $100 from someone trying to clear them out of their shop right before they were vaulted. Its crazy you could pic them up for less then $5 each back then, now they are in high demand and hard to find cheap.

Hey get this app on your phone called “stashpedia”. It keeps track of all your pops so you won’t have to search for what you do and do not have :)
I should log them all into a app but I like to compare each pop I get to the one I have already so I can find variants etc.

I kinda do lol he has already looked at the box a few times. He has more toys then the average kid and I want him to play with them and not horde them so I will wait until I can find an out of the box one for him cheap.

Yes I am they are both in my shop now priced near ppg price, I think the regular one is around $120 and $170 for the hot topic exclusive. I would have to double check.

Yeah this one was definitely one of my most Jaw Dropping videos to date. When they guy sent me photos of his collection, I think he did not know what he had. MJ I am keeping but the CM punks I put into my shop.

She is an awesome pop. Back in the day I wanted her but she was $7 everywhere on sale so I thought of I will wait on her then they announced that she was going to be vaulted so I decided to grab her for $8 on amazon just in case. I am so happy I did because she is one of my favorite pops.

@pop fun to play, where do you think the line is between being a collector and a hoarder?
There is a thin line but a distinction.
A collector is someone who acquires items in regard to how they add to their collection. They take into account the value of those items, their historic perspective and how that item adds value to their collection either culturally of monetarily. The Collector will spend time sorting, cataloging, and preserving their collection. A collector will prune their collection when they no longer desire to own certain items or they know those items are no longer something they need for their collection. The collector will put in time to share their collection with other people and to try to teach their knowledge to other collectors.
A hoarder is someone who acquires items regardless of how they add to their collection. They fail to take into account the value of those items, the items may have no significant value either to their collection of items or culturally. The hoarder does not spend time sorting cataloging or preserving their collection. They neglect their items and many of them end up being damaged or destroyed. There is no care for the collection. A hoarder fails to prune there collection and rather spends the time acquiring more without thought to if they have room money or time to deal with those new items. The hoarder does not spend any time sharing their collection and most of the time hide their hoard because they are embarrassed by it.
Many people know collectors they think are hoarders because the collector shares their hobbies and makes it know what they do, where as many people may be clueless that a friend or an acquaintance in life is a hoarder because they hide what they have and do not share it with the world.
And finally a Hoarder does not spend any time teaching or sharing their passion because they collect so many different random things that they do not acquire knowledge along the way while hoarding.
A true collector will have a passion for what they collect, tons of great stories of how they have collected each item and its impact on their lives and will be happy to share and or show their collection to others.
I hope that helps define the difference between the two. There may be collectors with massive collections that seem like hoarders and hoarders with relatively small collections of things but its how they treat those items and how and what the collect that matters.
I always say any collector can be one tragedy away from becoming a hoarder.

When you’re keeping stuff you don’t actually like, Misfits Fiend is a good example.
Not sure if that is aimed at me lol, the Misfits Fiend is an awesome figure, who would not want to keep that? In the 1990s I liked Danzig for a little bit, I was not heavy into the Misfits but I always liked the imagery of the Misfits Fiend which they took from the 1940s movie the Crimson Ghost. I like old school horror so the character fits right into that old school aesthetic. I would collect other Pops if they made them based on 1940s and 50s horror and fun house imagery. Also I have spent the last 20-25 years of my life buying and selling music so I have owned Misfits records many times and Always thrilled to find them for my shop since they are hard to find for a good price. Music is a huge part of my life and who I am.

when people ship you pops of this value why arent they wrapped in bubble wrap? makes no sense to me. i ship airsoft items every week. 10 dollar items and 400 dollar items all get the same treatment.
Yeah it already worries me. But honestly since the boxes are so thin I have had some problems with box damage in bubble wrap because of squeezing pressure if there are too many pops in a box etc. I am happy if the items are in separate boxes in the box so the pressure on each pop is low and if there are no boxes, you put strips of cardboard a little higher then the pop boxes so the weight is distributed away from the boxes. I need to do a how to package a large collection video one day.

Its spring cleaning time of year, I always get hammered by people cleaning out collections because they want room or are moving. Its a huge benefit of owning a store, people find you.
I have some Pops, and I'm going to buy some more. But I don't get how you can enjoy them with the box around it.
I do take pops out of the box to enjoy them but then I put them back. What I do not like doing is dusting and cleaning my collection, I have done that in the past and its way too much work and not enjoyable to do. I have 3000 so it would be impossible to have them all on display without spending many hours a month cleaning them and taking care of them. Instead I take out the ones I want to display and take pictures take them out, take my pictures or make my videos then I put them away carefully so I can enjoy them again in the future.

The ones I did pick up was a Darth Vader holographic blue wacky wobbler an I picked up a boo berry blox I think it was called an they had some higher end figures not pops I picked up they wanted 4 or 5 on some of the wobblers an 10 on others

Yeah the values on some pops is kinda crazy. Honestly no one knew how crazy it would be. When I first started collecting I thought it was crazy when anyone spent more then the retail price for them.

My shop is called PopFuzz and is about a 15 minute subway ride from union square on the L train so easy to visit after you visit Forbidden Planet. After you check out Forbidden Planet, look for a guy selling comics in front of the Gamestop on 14th street, he sometimes has some nice stuff for a good price. I also like to checkout out Book Off on 45th street pretty regularly they have a large wall of $1 comics. Book Off is about 5 blocks from Midtown so its easy to check it out after browsing Midtown comics.
Stacked up on a wall, like the huge wall of pops behind you? how do you keep the pops from falling of the wall or bottom ones getting crushed?
Not very well I did knock a stack or two over before. Now I have everything in pop protectrors and every 3rd or so is taped to the wall with painters tape to keep them stable.

So funny. I had no idea CM Punk had a pop or it was worth anything. I am not a WWE fan. I am an MMA fan (altho zero interest in MMA pops) & in MMA, CM Punk is kind of a joke. I think he seems like a cool guy honestly, but he came to UFC with a lot of hype without being truly ready. Big difference between soap opera scripted wrestling matches & fighting world class, skilled in many areas, top of the food chain trained killers. Props for trying but way out of his league. That being said, I still wish him the best.
Brock Lesnar on the other hand had a better run in the UFC but he's also a moose & juiced to the gills. Heavyweight fighters r harder to come by tho so his chances were better & he's actually good.

That is correct. To expand on it a little bit, I would say its a pop that someone has really wanted and have been hunting for but just could not find due to price or rarity.

Well regular price is $8-$12 so not too pricey but the ones that go vaulted or are sold out do tend to get pricey.

I just heard about funko pops at the end of 2019 ik I’m late but can someone explain why it’s cool to collect these.
I cant say its cool haha but what I can say is they make pops on almost everything so there are so many shows movies games etc that have Funko Pops that do not have other toys etc. The things that are made into Funko Pops is what is cool.

I prefer Pop Price guide, Stashpedia includes full price for items with free shipping which pushes the values up higher then I can really sell for. Plus Stashpedia updates brand new releases immediately which will show things like a Infinity War Captain American valued at $70 when we all know it will be $20 in a month etc.
that's why i have given up collecting pops because it was getting ridiculously expensive so stupid. I have about 45 pops
It really is, if you focus just on new releases for retail and not get upset if you miss something its not too bad. It is just when you miss too many and over pay for new releases that it becomes crazy expensive.

The batman you got in the box is worth $20 ,as it is from the original dc universe line and not the dc comics line,where it's basically the same funko pops,but just with different branding on the top of the box

That's cool! Whenever looking at dc pops ,especially the older ones look for the dc universe line on the front of the box ,that shows that they are more valuable than the standard dc comics ones.

Beanie Babies were just stuffed little bears and other animals. While I do believe the Funko Pop bubble will bust one day, I believe some of this will hold their value because they are actual things people collect. Superman Star Wars Marvel all that stuff is collectible
And that is only one of the reason why its different. I am working on a video on the topic because there are all kinds of ways they are different.

@Frank Sanchez Comic books especially golden age through silver age are extremely valuable , especially first appreance and orginal prints. Certain things will retain value such as Marvel , DC , Star wars + more. Recently found my father comic book collection and went through it and found comcs worth a few thousand , which is how i got into more comics and now funko pops. Certain things don't fade

Start with Ebay, if you use a shotgun approach and bid cheap on multiple auctions you would be shocked how often you can win pops in the $5-$7 each range.
