What a series by the isles. Gotta hand it to them, they definitely gave us a run for our money! They played fantastic. Can’t wait to see the battle between Vasy and Price!

Ryan McDonagh Was rock solid on Defense. Reminds me of the way he played with the NY Rangers during those magical playoff runs 2013-2014, 2014-2015... To fellow Rangers fans out there, I remember Ryan McDonagh playing game 7 for the Rangers blocking shots with a fractured foot against these same Lighting team under Cooper game 7 at the garden. I am very happy for him. Go win another Cup.

It's incredible there was only one goal in that game.
And it was a shorthanded goal. And, from what the commentator mentioned, the Islanders never allowed a shorthanded goal all season-long, this wholesome season, which was unique amongst all teams, this season.

Aiman---you guys have a great goalie in Varlamov...but our Vasi is hard to best. The Isles didn't give Varlamov any support, or not near as they should've, through the entire series.

Unfortunately this didn't age well. The Islanders missed the playoffs the next season and Trotz got cashiered.

Varly played so well it just ended badly for the isles.
The play where Goarde scored was terrible d from us, and the giveaway with the spectacular d by Pulock in the 3rd was bad as well. But apart from that, I think the Isles were as solid as Varly. Lightning's lucky we didn't score aswell, we had some awesome chances. Ah well, on to next year!

This is definitely the kind of series where you feel bad someone ultimately had to lose.

The isles were so fun to watch during these playoffs. This was a fantastic series, both teams were excellent.
Great clips and excellent coverage. I had to work tonight and had no access to the game whatsoever. I feel like I just watched as much Game 7 excitement as I can. Love my Tampa Bay Lightning getting to the Cup finals for the 2nd year in a row. #GoBolts

Yanni closed the Coliseum so he's my new favorite player. Home ice advantage was a huge factor as it usually is in a game 7.

I might be a Pens fan - but mostly I'm a fan of great hockey... the last 4 teams are all a step above where we need to be right now and have set the bar so high. It's hard to rout against the Isles and Habs bc of how hard they play. Fantastic games to watch - just hope the Cup FInals can live up to the expectations set by the Conf Finals. Congrats to the Isles on a great season - Congrats to the Lightning (further legitimizing their win last season)

Tampa had 5 straight series clinching shutouts. From beating Dallas 2-0 in game 6 in 2020 to Montreal in game 5! What an unbelievable stat that will probably never be beaten!

Super effort by both teams in many categories and aspects of play. The difference maker in this game had to be the shot blocking performance of TBL defense especially McDonough and Cernak and also TBL forwards. The blocked shots also helped create offensive rushes for TBL and reduced time in the offensive zone for NY Jslanders.

What a game 7---Congrats to the Bolts and good luck defending the Cup against the Habs--Habs are super hungry for that title, so the Bolts better bring the "A" game every night if they want to keep the Cup. The Playoffs this season have been really enjoyable to watch and looking foward to the Finals.

On paper Tampa has the edge but Price has the ability to will Montreal to victory as we've seen many times so far this postseason so I think it'll be a good one either way.

Finally! As a pens fan glad to see a high octane offense do what it’s supposed to do. And the goalie hold up his end. Lol shout to the Isles for battling so far. I absolutely hate that stupid trap scheme but it does work. Game should’ve been 3-0 in the first. But as the isles always seem to do. They hang around and I thought they were going to possibly tie it as they have before. But Lightning played as they should the more talented better team won. Same can’t be said in the other series. But still respect the Isles I didn’t expect them to get outta the first round and they made a hell of a run.
Not one short handed goal all playoffs... and then let in one and thet was the way they proven to be beat... a Cinderella story at it's finest to get Tampa another shot at the Cup... love it !!!

He was a really good tender for Colorado also. He took a lot of shots there, seemed to have a hard time with the easy ones once in a while...

Gotta love the novelty of two division rivals meeting in a Stanley Cup Final since the border situation messed up all the divisions this year. I think it'll be a good series tho. I like the Lightning to repeat but it wouldn't shock me one bit if Price steals the show and brings the cup back to Montreal for the first time since 1993.

WADR to Rudy T, I'd say it has more to do with talent than heart. It doesn't hurt when you've been allowed to cheat the salary cap by $18M. Of all the pro sports leagues, the NHL is the only one where the cap actually produces parity, when it's enforced. You have teams like the Oilers with a couple big stars and no depth. You have "one-line teams" like the Bruins or AVs. The TBL have an edge, albeit not a huge one, because they've got both stars and quality depth. When or if they are brought to heel on salary, they'll be just another team in a league where any of 15-20 teams might win in a given year.

@@donnievick3076 Who is whining? I'm questioning the notion that the TBL have "more heart" than other teams. They have more talent than the Isles, IMO. They might have the most talent in the NHL.
As for the notion that it's legal, you might be right. I'm not a lawyer. I will predict, however, that the NHL will close some loopholes on them very soon. As for part of the cap being used up by "scratch players", you could say that about teams that aren't $18M over. Most teams have one or two "bad contracts".
I think the Islanders do have the heart of a champion, they don't quite have the talent though...

Got the final I wanted of the last 4. But it’s crazy the islanders pushed them to 7 cause the Lightning are so dangerous on offense. Go Lightning in the final!
Not appearing in these highlights: Barclay Goodrow and Alex Killorn keeping the puck away from 4 Islanders for a ridiculous amount of time as precious seconds burned away late in the 3rd. Nothing that shows up on the stat sheet, but it was A-grade quality dirty work.

As a fellow Oilers dynasty fan born much later and in England, gotta give credit where its due for my fellow Cup dynasty team, the Islanders. Gave Tampa a run for its money and improved by one game to game 7 from the previous year...
Was rooting for New York, but the Lightning look scary good!!! Just too much talent to overcome. I think NY needs to add more offense in the off season. But how bout being a Tampa sports fan right now. 4th championship round for them in less than a year! Insane!!
