Strange fact: Lightning goalie Vasy shutout all teams they faced in the final game of each series. total 5 shutouts which is tied for 3rd all-time to goalie Khadbibulin another Russian goalie who played for the Lightning ⚡🏆 Stanley cup team 2004.

And yet underperforming Fleury got the Vezina Trophy. There was never a debate in Tampa about who the #1 goalie is like there was in Vegas. Vezina voting is 100% irrational.
Not to mention that Vasilevskiy played like a different animal in the postseason than he was in the regular season. He and the team were embarrassing in the first-round series that season they tied the record for 62 W in the season, then two seasons later the Lightning came like they were unbeatable and unstoppable. What a wild team!
Talent bloat aside, what sticks out most for me about Tampas dominance, is how effective Hedman is at complete domination. When he's on the ice, it's like they are 6 on 5.

This Tampa Bay lightning team have literally followed the same path to back to back championships as the the Detroit Redwings of the 90s even down to their 62 win season. Never thought I would see this same path to greatness.

As a lifelong habs fan, this video is incredibly painful. This is the first time i'm watching the highlights after 2021 because I just couldn't do it. It's like someone took a syringe and shot up a whola lotta "dread" into my veins. I really wish we never made the finals that year and just lost to the jets in round 2. It still stings so much it's crazy.

Montreal might not even make the playoffs next year and they barely made it this year but this is what happens during covid times. Bottom teams get pounded and pounded and pounded in the same division and the better teams get knock out early. Way to go Tampa and Montreal showed great heart.

@Karl M I knew that already. ESPN hasn't been same though since losing NHL NASCAR IndyCar Champions League and World Cup rights away to other networks. They where literally the only sports provider until there own ratings started dipping. Plus they have NBA which can cause scheduling conflicts.
@Karl M Honestly yeah I think NBA could probably have three networks covering there sport. So having both NBC and CBS added with TNT would be cool and make sense.
@Karl M what I've also noticed is that some of the people on TNT are former people when the NBA was on NBC and I think I remember seeing that they did it with both TNT and NBC. Also sometimes NBA doesn't always have a Friday game on a television Network and most weekends so a third network like CBS would be pretty useful to get as much basketball on tv.
My favorite sport is baseball, but the absolute greatest moment in sports is when the gloves go flying up in the air, when The Cup is clinched. It happens for a few seconds, once a year........but instead, The NBC cameras were on the empty net waiting to see if the clearing would go in. HORRIBLE!!!!!
Unfortunately I think the cameras are programmed to follow the puck wherever it goes
