I was always told it was a "crow foot" wrench, but a "reach around" wrench makes more sense, you learn something new everyday.
"I look away for safety" needs to be a sticker
I just wrote this down lol. I do use that method quit a bit, taken a lot of shots to the cheek.
@@HerbOMatic It's a more safe version of the safety squint, which is always used by men everywhere
@@HerbOMaticmy wife uses that method too
@@9HighFlyer9 lol
@@HerbOMatic to be clear, we've been married a long time. What I meant was she used to use that method of "vision protection." Nowadays she just doesn't do any dangerous work.
Herb, you lead a very interesting life
Thanks Justin, I have to, I get bored easily!
My watching your videos I thought you were a guy with a crazy bomb shelter and a much of vending machines but here you are a airplane mechanic and a pilot
Ya I was thinking the same thing, what else lies beneath???
you would make a good teacher you have a good way of describing how and why you do things
“When stuff goes wrong, never stop giving up!” 😂
We're Tigra and Bunny, and we like the boom...
My wife makes fun of my references she's says they're too old and nobody will get them. Glad to see she's wrong!
Your plane's coming along nicely, can't wait 'til it's all finished. Great video Herb
This is my new favorite channel! Can’t wait for the next video!
I'm working on it!
I look away for safety T-shirt would be pretty cool as well 😂
"if you don't feel like dying" I can't stop laughing Herbs. I feel like you are destined for great things in life. Your sarcasm is beyond hilarious. Entertainment and learning at the same time. "If your prop comes off"😂
Herbs a talented air plane mechanic as well, who knew? thought he was only into vending machines, bomb shelter renovations, and red heads 😂 you can’t be to carefull when torquing the prop bolts, it could be your life ✅
I thoroughly enjoy the aviation content. Been mesmerized by flight since i was a wee little shat. Hope to experience small single engine flight someday...
You got a mind that’s perfect for that kinda work!
"A little dribble on the chin." 😂😂
Teach the copilot to be gentle with the sensitive throttle knob.❤❤❤
Not too gentle ehhh?
Just the way you calmy said that at the ending was just top notch funny. 😂
Comedy all the way through to the very end!
I'm a big fan of kegle clamps myself!
Tshirt request "Give up the Ghoost"
Awesome Herb!
Shrinker/stretcher set, say that fast 10 times in a row. 😆
19:20 I had the intake off my sienna and wish I had taken a picture after pulling all the towels out of the block. I did go in with a borescope to double check after tightening the last intake bolt.
It's a good job the wife was there to PROP you up or this job could have ended up in a big spin 😂. Pray tell, will you film the first flight ✈️ so we can all sweat with you 😉
Love the intro!
Thanks Kevin! Those are pretty fun to make, I more or less have to come up with stuff as the clips flash across the screen. I mean they are an accurate representation of the previous episodes.
That's awesome 😎, I can imagine installing that propeller was pretty nerve wracking!!! Thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍👍
🤣 Playin' on repeat in my head,... 🎶 And I'm talkin' to myself at night, Because I can't forget 🎶
I can't wait to fly Herb-o-Matic Airlines!
Just wondering are you a “A&P” mechanic? Learning a lot, I’ll never use this information but I find it do fascinating. Thanks for sharing!👍🏼
Some people use safety wire on bikes, its a cool look. I'm working with an A&P, hope to have my license soon.
Herb .... You're definitely a weird mf'er 😂😂😂.... Don't ever stop I love watching your videos keep up the great work man
Dont wipe on the windows, dust and probably aluminium particles from grinding will severely scratch the plastic windows. Rinse it of with water
I shuddered when I went back and watched that part!
I have to go but I wanna see the video about her manifold pressure I missed that day in flight school .lol
Indeed! who needs Butterflies in this world - they just plug up Carbs anyways... "When this thing stops or goes away..." lol
I'm surprised that you didn't cut those baffles right back and only have a small area of doubled up material mate. Extra weight means more fuel needed for your trip, and it would be a shame for you to run out of go juice at 10,00 feet and have to send the wife out to push. :D
You should send the link for the 'mechanics bible' to the Boeing guys.
I would but they might whack me.
👍✅🤣As always funny and informative, tks👏
Thanks PShow, I shortened it for Brevity.
@@HerbOMatic or was it for levity?
@@HerbOMatic 👍✅I thought it was short because it was cold 🤣
Propellers are only fans.
Is giving up the Goose legal during Thanksgiving? "Ghoost".
If you find his explanations weird, remember he used to work for boeing
8:10 😂
High speed, low drag.
when you have it all together do you still have to get it inspected before it goes for a spin cause your doing super work
So when are you getting your pilots license?
Totally 2nd!
I cant be sure maybe you were third, I think you should fight 3rd and 4th just incase.
With Herb, it's not 'Safety First' - it's 'Safety Thirst'. A slight improvement from the last video on the gratuitous butt shots, should definitely improve the algorithm response. And while it's unlikely I'll ever need to safety wire something, I at least have a better understanding of it now. Looking forward to the test flight!
bud you need to get some Heavy duty and fabrication tools like press bench etc
I followed your instructions for my plane, but it didn’t work out. I have a pile of magnetos on the floor, a rubber wrapped around my head and lube on my chin. What am I doing wrong. I thought the magnetos were optional.
My redhead is also angry at me. Yours seems a bit more happy.
He said shop head
Please use respirator when working with aluminum. You don't want that dust in your lungs
first
pass the solder vapors.
if I had a hobby where my life depended on math, I'd have died long ago
I hope no hamsters escaped after you pulled the plug and before you screwed the fan on.
What flows through the center of the prop that it needed that "O"ring? (I know NOTHING about aviation)
Oil is pushed on there to control the pitch of the prop blades. Some planes have fixed pitch props then they are solid chunks of aluminum
@HerbOMatic if I wanted to try and look up how that works (the oil changing the pitch) what are some key words to use?
Thanks!!
"How does a constant speed propeller work"
Safety wiring is the worse it tight spots,,
Hey, just I subscribed! Can I have a cookie?! 😂
Sure, just one though. You're so bad.
why cant you Tig Weld it
It's heat treated aluminum. Even the manufacturer doesn't weld any aluminum. All rivets.
What happens if the prop comes off while the girlfriend is in the plane!? Just make sure her name begins with the letter K?
